First, I'm really sorry to hear about your mom. I also do crossing over sessions with clients where sometimes (but no always) the soul of the loved one will present. I also am able to answer questions about the person's life and explain more about what is the "afterlife" (a lot of people are worried their loved one might be suffering or has been punished - never seen that be true) - but those are really different from channellings. It's kind of like having a radio dial and there are different stations.

I know this is going to sound ridiculous, but I became a HS channel spontaneously in 2012.
I had recently been through a number of traumatic events: divorce, homelessness, surviving a terrorist attack in Turkey and come really close to a total breakdown. I moved back to the USA for a bit and moved in with my friend who ended up becoming my mentor and helped me a lot through this awful time.

One day - I sat down in a rocking chair in my bedroom and decided to pray. Not to god, but to the androgynous Universe. I had been working with a type of heart-centered meditation for about 6 months, and I decided to go into that energy and pray to the Universe and just ask if my HS was there. I'd been trying to make contact for 2 years, through trance dance, meditation etc - but to no real avail.

Well - this day, something profound happened. I felt a rush through my whole body, and I felt myself sliding into a different type of consciousness. In the hypnosis world - they would call this auto-suggestion. So - call it what you like, because even after studying hypnosis, regression therapies and psychology - no one REALLY can say they know what this stuff is. Each "camp" has it's own language and ideas - but since the days of Jung - no one has really pioneered this stuff much deeper. Jung calls it the collective unconscious - I call i the 4th dimension. Potato/patato...

So - I had this rush, and then I felt compelled to open my mouth and repeat the prayer I had just said internally. But now...whoa...it was not my voice at all... It was like a Northern Irish accent (never been there and I SUCK at accents - so this was hilarious to me) and my HS introduced herself, let me know that I was currently accessing energy somewhere in the upper 5th and 6th dimensions and that we could talk to each other in this way.

It lasted about 10 min - and then I had to sleep for 2 hours.
Slowly, I built up the skill... until I got to the point where I could channel her for other people for like a max of 45 minutes.
She also sometimes brings me other "teachers" she would like me to meet with - and they explain healing techniques to me - as in, energetic healing stuff.

I only EVER go through my heart centre energy for this and I only ever channel my HS. It's way too tricky to channel other entities in my humble opinion... and for me it's like - why go for a patchy reception when you can get crystal clear?

My HS IS me of course...it's my higher dimensional self - who has access to "the big picture"... she also helps me to give readings for other people by teaming up with their own HS and then we scan their soul-level records and try to help the person shift their perspective and get back on track.

I noticed some queries you had posted in 'Personal Readings' and wondered why you would need to ask if you could access advice from your own HS.

Yeah great question. I personally find it very hard to get any "personal" answers from my HS - because I guess I'm meant to go through my own process and she's not going to just hand me the answers I want. Sometimes...she does... But usually, not.

Even when I read for clients - I get info for them - but then there will be other pieces of info that are blocked or have a curtain over them - because it's just not time for the person to have that info.

When I want to get clear on something for myself, I usually explore my quantum timelines instead. Like - I'll scan out for the version of me who was successful in having a baby and ask her what she did - what am I missing? The answer I got was - just please relax - you're meant to enjoy having a child - not turn it into something else to worry about and "figure out". Once you do that - things will fall into place. So i guess I already got my answer... but like most people, I wanted more! :-)

My friend who channels Archangel Micheal also finds that she can only channel for other people. One would think that someone with an open line to an angel would get advice at every step, but it's not so.

Yes - and I often learn just as much as anyone else. One thing I will do is make a list of questions (not about myself, but about a topic I want to learn about ) and go ahead and channel and record it. I play it back and I'm often quite wowed by what has been said.

I have tried to do this in regards to asking personal questions, and the answers that come back are usually very "loose" - like, that I need to stop digging up plants every few days to see if indeed the roots are still growing - Lol.
Usually when there is some big message that I need to get - it comes in dreamstate and it's pretty unmissable. Or, I do sometimes pull tarot cards for myself and get clarity that way. Most of the time though, I'm quite happy to just let life reveal things.

I do give soul readings as part of the work that I do - and I often tell people that the future is like weather: if you look far enough ahead, you will find some stormy days. So, keep it simple, keep it relevant to your current circumstances and once you've had your answer, let it be.
