Listen, of course I would love to be friends with aliens. Sometimes I daydream about sitting in the Mos Eisley cantina, enjoying a beer with 10 other different races from all over the galaxy. Maybe even hit on a hot she-alien with 8 boobs, you never know.

But frankly, the truth is that we don't know what aliens' intentions are. Hell, we don't even know our fellow humans' intentions a lot of the time. This isn't high school or a social event where our biggest concern is etiquette and being politically correct. It's a matter of survival and potential life or death. Potential global genocide actually.

Do I hope I'm wrong? Hell yea! Am I gonna welcome them with open arms for the sake of manners should they ever come? No.

This is a situation where I believe in "live and let live".

I wonder if aliens crack jokes like humans?

And where do they hang out?

Do they like McDonalds? What kind of music are they into?

(My brain is currently frazzled from sunbathing, hence my glib one-liners. I will come back to topic later and say something more intelligent)

Deepseablues, I didn't read all your post (it reminds me of a Tolkien novel and my attention span is a bit short today), but whether we are symbolically "enslaved" or not, I bet that Myanmar fisherman is happy to go home after being a slave in Thailand for 22 years.

I bet they crack jokes. A lot of the shows and movies like "Coneheads" and "3rd Rock From The Sun" depict them as robotic without a sense of humor. But then, as time progresses, they learn to be more human (emotional, funny, indulgent...).

More advanced technology may mean a tendency towards more processed foods, so McDonald's would probably appeal to them. I mean, I like it occasionally!

If there was any music on Earth that appealed to aliens, it would probably be Frank Zappa and Sun Ra! Maybe Coltrane in his free-jazz phase. Then again, those musicians in the Mos Eisley cantina sounded like they were into Django Reinhardt.

I wonder if they smirk at comments about Uranus, as well?

I believe there's a chance that they're out there, and wondering the same thing about us. I don't believe that they're actually here, though.

Lol. Or Pharaoh Sanders in his "I will make this saxophone sound like a constipated cow even if it kills me" phase.

Or if they were more into funk music, maybe a little Parliament?

Or Kiss for the metalhead aliens?

Deepsea -
quote:
what I don't understand is why you are putting such a negative and fixed skew on my statement, which was actually quite vague and ambiguous, yet you've put meaning I never intended into my words, without knowing my true beliefs..

I'm sorry. I should've explained myself. I was going to add a couple of sentences explaining myself but someone else distracted me at the time, and I left the post as it was.
The only things in my posts that were specifically directed at you - were my questions (not everything else I talked about).

Once I started writing on this topic I couldn't stop, because I guess a few things have added up for me... and there were many times in the past when I kept my views to myself. Your post was kind of like the last drop (a very tiny, insignificant, non-offensive, and as you said - vague and ambiguous.. "drop" - but a drop nonetheless). So my glass just spilled over... and 80% of it was not at all personally directed at you.

And I definitely - ABSOLUTELY - do not dislike you. That's not even.. No. Just no!
I promise!
This wasn't even slightly personal. I am really sorry it came across that way, and I completely see why it did - reading it back now. I should've been more careful with the way I worded my posts.

The thing is, very often people who hold these beliefs about malevolent alien beings, are referring specifically to reptilians or what they see as reptilian "allies".
I've had conversations with new age people in the past, and conspiracy theorists... and kept quiet so as to not offend them, so my views on this - are bottled up and waiting to explode lol
I know that you didn't specifically mention this, but your post did bring back memories of all these past conversations I've had... and I ended up saying things to you, that I should've said to some of these people - past tense.

The questions I asked you were not supposed to be accusatory. They are questions I've been wanting to ask people for quite some time... people who hold these beliefs about malevolent aliens (usually reptilians).
I'm more than aware of religious rhetoric talking about the devil, demons and so on.. which is likewise damaging to many. But generally, new age people are non-religious and they criticise religious institutions for these reasons.

I find it very odd to come across new age individuals, who will talk about love and light, world peace and rising to a higher vibration (possibly entering a higher dimension) - and at the same time endorsing a belief-system that is based on good vs. evil (us vs them) religious-style rhetoric, and proceeding to bemoan the evil reptilians.
This is something that has angered me a lot, on several occasions. I am not at all saying you have done this, or that your post falls in this category.
Your post simply reminded me of things I've experienced in the past... things that had a strong emotional impact on me.

Here's something I shared on LL before from a scifi of mine in the making, the first draft as a sentient lizard race from another star system interviews a human who has lived among them for years as their species is really curious about humans (and also both scandalized and disturbed, some of them even seeing humanity as the evil conquering species of the galaxy):

quote:
Hezin (sentient alien lizard called a ziv interviewing a human who is now traveling with them as their species finds humans very difficult to understand, just as the reverse is true), "How exactly does one tell the difference between male & female among humans when their colors are chaotic and leg sizes about the same?"

"Color and leg length isn't part of gender in humans like ziv. Instead you look to the shape of the body, especially the hips and torso. You can't always tell this way, but usually you can. Men usually have a lot more hair on their face, or at least have to shave their face more. For some reason many women shave their legs while men just shave their face and let their legs get hairy. Men smell different, too, and so does the cologne they wear instead of perfume. Men are usually stronger, but not always. The main thing is that men have their genitals on the outside while women have genitals that are on the inside like a ziv."

"How are the eggs hatched?"

"They're not laid like ziv do, so the hatchling, called a *baby* hatches from the body."

[Silence, as Hezin twists in a way that expresses distress and even shocked horror.] "And I think that's more than any ziv wants to know. And yet, despite this, humans are obsessed with sex, right?"

Odette,

Thanks for explaining. I really thought you didn't like me, I'm kinda stunned that that isn't the case! The internet is a weird place I can't really tell how people are coming across.

Your post also reminded me of things from the past that had a strong personal impact and I guess I went a little overboard wanting to explain myself and I also had a very weird day yesterday that didn't help with my perceptions. Glad to know I was wrong and to understand your posts

deepseablues,

I don't think it's an issue of us "seeing eye to eye" or not, because you haven't really stated anything for us to agree/disagree on. I'm actually more sensitive than I appear to be, try me.

I just find it a bit ironic that you tell us you're enslaved but then not willing to elaborate on it because it would take too long. However, you wrote a mini epic beating around the bush about it and leaving us more on the edge of the cliff. I said it reminded me of Tolkien because he'd spend pages describing what the hobbits ate for dinner. I love Tolkien by the way.

So, again, what is enslaving you?

I don't think my question was particularly vague, deepseablues. You said in your first post:

"Yes there are many aliens living among us, some are benevolent, some malevolent, the game plan is huger than you'd ever imagine, and so are the stakes..."

so I asked would you care to elaborate. How is that a vague question, especially when your comment was fairly cryptic in the first place? I was just curious what evidence you had for these aliens existing. (I'm not doubting it, I was genuinely interested in your knowledge/experience).

There is tons and loads of evidence of aliens existing, do you really need me to list all the thousands of examples? Not to mention everything that goes unrecorded? People who worked for the US government have come out and said yes, grey aliens crashed in Roswell and the government kept them in captivity and did experiments and forced them people working for the government into secrecy. And that's just the tip of the iceberg! If people choose to deny the outright evidence that is there, that is their choice. If I tell you about people I know who have been in contact with aliens, or if I have been, are you going to believe me, or are you going to think I'm a crackpot like all the other thousands of people who have come out about contact? Do you guys really think the government is honest? There is so much corruption and cover up in the government its sickening, if people don't see it that is because they choose to.

I can recommend some good books and articles if that would help? But really all of the knowledge is both out there and within you, if you really want to access it you will.

Anyway I'm sorry for having come into this thread at all now... despite all the niceties the energy doesn't feel pleasant and writing in this thread gives me a strange anxiety and I feel misinterpreted and attacked as I have often felt on this site. I guess I'm not very good at this whole explaining or forum thing, I should have just kept my mouth shut! It seems like I'm just p*ssing people off, I can't seem to please anyone and I've been told I'm not supposed to people please so much anyway, so I'll say adieu

Wow deepseablues. I hope you don't think I was attacking you, because I certainly wasn't and I'm sorry you feel the energy in this thread "doesn't feel pleasant". I was interested in your stories and actually WANT to hear other's proof that aliens exist, because I find the prospect of this fascinating and even exciting. I'm no sceptic by any means.

Sure, I can research it myself, but when someone comes across as knowledgeable about the subject, naturally one would want to pick their brains a bit, not to shoot them down in flames, but because it's informative.

Anyway... thanks for sharing what you did share. I do think you're being a little oversensitive about other people's motives in this thread though.

I met a woman once who talked about being stalked by shapeshifting lizards.

And I didn't think she was crazy as she lacked the obsessive behavior and supreme ego (thinking they were that important) and other qualities I've come to associate with street schizos, delusional paranoiacs, and others. She was essentially a normal person who could function as well as anyone who was hesitant to share her experiences, though also confused why she was the only one who seemed to be stalked by people who'd turn into lizards right in front of her as if toying with her.

I know some will say she was crazy for seeing that at all but I'm not one of them, basically if I was being stalked like that I'd have reacted very similar to her, whereas those of the deep end can't help but talk about them, can't function in society, and typically have some sort of "I'm so important" complex that goes with it, and/or these bad people include people of power (be it the CIA or politicians or actors), whereas for her she never seen these shapeshifters before (that is they weren't family, co-workers, or anyone who was part of society as far as she knew).

However, I didn't think she was right about them being from another planet (which she came up with after doing research which she began AFTER seeing them), I figured they were more trickster spirits and she should learn to harness her openness to the spirit world to get a handle on it. More specifically that was my first guess and I could go on and on about other possibilities (and I thought of Twilight Eyes by Dean Koontz).

Well, deepseablues, if you ever change your mind and decide to share, my offer to listen is still on the table.

Sure, we see things differently, as do everyone else in the world. Does that mean we breakdown and close off communication? No, we communicate and try to understand. That's what being in a world with different people is about.

As for your theory on privileged people not feeling enslaved, I can only assume it's something with money?

Sure, there are many things in life that we're obligated to. Like jobs and paying the rent. But I'm just thankful I'm not shackled in chains, performing manual labor for free, while living in sub-human conditions. That's what I think of when I think of slavery. Maybe you can enlighten me?
