What would a Narcissist have had to do in a past life.

Negative or positive?

The reason I say positive is because in their mind they do nothing wrong. And also are unaware of the wrong they do. Has their souls reached a state of having the right to do this? And that they are just misguided on their talents?

But I could also see more heavily the negative.

What do you think?

I'm speaking with the personality disorder in mind, with the symptoms as described in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.

I believe that doesn't come from a past life, but from how one was raised in this life. Many such narcissists are ironically very insecure who build themselves up at the expense of others and need constant praise and admiration because it's the only way they can keep from feeling utterly worthless.

Though my mom has never been diagnosed, I believe she has it as she has the symptoms and background for it. (Again, going by the symptoms, not the countless pop psychology blogs about it meant to vent rather than understand, with mothers a favorite one to be called narcissist, that confuse narcissism with other personality disorders as borderline, psychopathy, histrionic, and in a lot of cases, just plain immaturity on the one said to be narcissist and/or the one claiming the said person is narcissist--ironically, some people who go around calling everyone a narcissist or even "waging a blog war" on them seem to fit the description of having an actual narcissist personality disorder themselves!).

I suspect her Leo ASC and Mars make her more prone to it, and her Scorpio sun (and other Scorpio) also make it so that she can't overcome the hurts, trauma, and indignities growing up that I believe made her a narcissist (that is, the Scorpio also indirectly contributes to it). Just to be clear, I'm not saying these placements mean that you will have, or even likely have, this disorder, but that those with these placements who are constantly treated like **** growing up along with some severe abuse probably will. Had I been forced to endure what she did in childhood, I'd be messed up as well, though given my own placements I'd probably be more of a psychopath (and probably not a "high functioning" one either, but in and out of prisons if not death row) rather than a narcissist.

But as it so happens, I know one of her past lives very well. She was essentially a displaced woman (in a world without mercy for such) who married a French pirate while having an affair with yet another pirate (whom she married, then divorced, in this life). She was bitter, but then she had reason to be. I don't think she was narcissist back then in that life. I do believe that how she died (which was horrible and tragic) did influence her conditions in this life, in that her dying state of mind shaped this one (not "higher powers"), which brought a bit of that life into this one...but this time she had a different natal chart to work with. (If she had a life in between that one and this one, I don't know about it.)

Interesting enough, someone else said he knew my mother was once a woman (hundreds of years ago) with serious political clout (may have been behind the scenes) in France with jokes of her loving her own reflection above all. It was pretty vague, but of possible interest for obvious reasons, and being French would match with her in a later life (possibly even her very next one) marrying a French pirate in New Orleans.

Well, it could be argued that Narcissism would logically result from being unconscious of past lives in which one indeed was a person of some "importance," as PixieJane suggests about her mother, at the end of her post.

I perceive that my own narcissism earlier in life was "healed" by my long work in accessing and healing my past lives (which indeed included being personalities (multiple times) of note, who "knew" they were "special" (chosen by "god," ya know!) and were treated as such in their lifetimes.

Not sure I would have been labeled with the actual disorder, but the narcissistic traits of exaggerated self-importance, superiority, and sense of entitlement in life certainly applied, in my earlier years (even if I knew how to "behave" in public), before tapping into past lives. Perfectionism was a big problem for me. I was also depressed much of my 20s. The trait of feeling an inner emptiness definitely applied.

(LOL...I am looking at the Mayo Clinic site's page on NPD and it says this : )

"People with narcissistic personality disorder may not want to think that anything could be wrong, so they may be unlikely to seek treatment. If they do seek treatment, it's more likely to be for symptoms of depression, drug or alcohol use, or another mental health problem."

True, I did seek counseling then for depression. (I am not implying that I still am not currently a depressive sort--I am. But at this time chalk it up to general "old soul" type blah's, like "what's the point?' kind of depression.)

..At this point in my soul's evolution, this lifetime was one to clear out old karma and take responsibility for all of my previous actions across lifetimes, so I was fortunately able to come to grips with and objectively analyze this part of my personality, through the lens of a past-life origin of this and other personality "complexes" I carried.

It has been a hard "theme" to crack, the feeling, comfortably persisting over multiple lifetimes, that one is "chosen" and "special." ...Finally accepting that that "god" of old I was listening to was a demented psycho led me through a variety of emotions, to ultimate peace about the strange journey I have taken.
