"Cookie" He's a 3 year old black, brown, and white Abyssinian guinea pig. He likes to eat junkfood and paper. I'm sad cause he's getting old and has a bald spot on his head. He can't run as fast as he used to either.

"Ansarath" He's a 1 year old black Abyssinian guinea pig. His nickname is "Annie". He actually likes to be picked up and to climb to the top of things. Kinda weird for a guinea pig I think. He's the bravest guinea I ever knew.

They both come running when they hear their names.

"Nickel" He's a blue and purple Betta Fish that I got a week ago. He's still a little scared of me.

My beautiful fat, loving kitties-Solomon and Bella.

I have a beta fish too-Jonah. He lives on my desk at work. I will soon be taking him home though. He enjoys swimming, darting back and forth, eating dried blood worms (rare treat) and staring at his finger puppet friends.

This was published on Shirley MacLaine's website not long after she first began it. Now the little kitten I talk about in the essay is nearly three or four years old and is still as precious to me as ever. Lately she has taken a psychotic liking to wet food, constantly yowling for more and waking us up in the morning for more. But oh, do I love my sweet Callie.
------------------------------------
Pet Spirituality Contributed Stories
In Your Own Words:

Callie
[by LMB]

Right now, she is laying half on the wrist pillow below the keyboard and half on my lap. She likes when I use the computer and she seems especially happy as I'm writing this now, as if she knows it's about her. She's four months old and looking up at me with those big brown eyes. She is my saving grace. Her name is Caledonia Grace, Callie for short, and she is walking with me on my path to healing.

I was three years old when I picked out the little black and white runt of the litter. We named her Puss for "Puss 'n Boots" and we grew up as sisters for nineteen years. She was with me when, as a nine year old, I cried and cried on my bedroom floor because I couldn't find any meaning in life. She was with me when, as a twenty year old, I cried and cried because the meaning I had found had become lost. This past summer, however, I was able to work at a wonderful summer camp spreading creativity and spirituality. I was the most fulfilled I had been in ages. My mother called me up to tell me that Puss, having been ill for months, passed away at the age of 19. My knees felt like tissue paper and I fell to the floor, inconsolable.

Two months later, after returning to an empty house, empty of my life-long sister (and I have always been an only child) I couldn't bare the loss. I adopted this four month old tortoise-shell-colored calico kitten.

The first thing she did when we brought Callie home (once she came out of hiding) was jump up on the shelf that held the framed picture of Puss. She stared for a long time. Then she jumped into my arms and purred.

She would surely be my saving grace on this journey we call life.

I don't know if my kittens are saving me !

My last cat was beautiful, the centre of my universe and her name was Magiki. She lived to be 15 and died last July. I spent lots of time grieving and I'm so sure I felt her become reincarnated. I loved her with all my heart and although it's so much easier now, living without her was so hard.

Now I have 3 kittens. They are terrors ! So different from my Magiki. Magiki was such a relaxed cat now I have 3 hyperactive kittens with claws everywhere.
There is the black and white female we called Daisy. Very boisterous although she is the best behaved.
The black female we called Buffy, a bit wary of me, she's a Daddy's girl, loves my boyfriend more than me !
And the black male we called Randy Giles. He doesn't really like either of us much. They are all Capricorns, just over 9 weeks old.

I don't regret having them, it's just opened my eyes a bit. I no longer look at kittens as cute and fluffy, more calculating and sneaky....I'm sure they are all plotting against me

Chloe, our Great Pyre. A white floofy ball of pure love and our family guardian. At 115 lbs & still growing, she`ll top out at about 150 lbs. Shes 18 months old. We purchased her to guard our family of 4 leggeds and ours-elves.

Thunder, Chesapeake Bay retriever. Our goofball Aqua we adopted because he was thought untrainable (way too much Uranus energy ) and they were going to put him to sleep as he didn`t fit the expectations of his breed A 110 lb freight train in the house.

Abby, a brindle & Jasper a white , our Lhasa Apsos also adopted from a puppy mill. They have a history of interbreeding and have many health probs. Abby is blind, severe dermatis issues and arthritis. Jasper is blind in one eye and has allergies. Bro & sis, they are 10 years old and the perfect lap warmer, warning barkers and pure devotion.

The fish, frogs ect. there`s too many to figure out. The 150 ga. aquarium has whatever the original owners planned to flush. The pond is also full of oddball fish and native residents. We usually take them in on short notice, then find permanent homes for them.

Birds are chickens and what ever else needs a temporary home. No clue how many chicks but they`re every breed size color and temperment. They all are tame and run around with me when I work outside. A family of bats we built homes for in a shed. Peacocks, parrots, finchs or whatever comes in.

Next post is the kitties

This is so great! I love hearing about everyone's beloved pets. They are the greatest gifts in my life.

My little buddy, Milo, has kept me from focusing too much on myself since leaving my drunk Sag man. He's my proof that you can NEVER get and give too much love!

He's everybody's friend, and you ought to see the oversized, rough and gruff construction boyz turn to cooing masses of mush around him! LOL It's too much!

Remember you asked Nephthys

Our home kitties are:

Goldigger 'Goldie' a calico who I found shot thru the spine, raging with infection & starvation. I brought her home to pass away in peace. She astounded us by living and is the sweetest funniest cat. She climbs our 8 ft fence like a squirrel.

Josie, a torty siamese we rescued and is the snootiest because she thinks she`s people & snubs the other kitties. She`s a prermanent lap fixture.

Keisha, a snowshoe siamese rescued from a Detroit shelter. Huge girl, clumsy, vocal and always in your face with her desires.Demanding and she`s on/under my feet more than my shoe. A real joy to trip over in the am . Her siamese heart is as big as she is & a furball of love.

Chris, a Himalayan rescued from an abandoned farm. King of the house & doesn`t let anyone forget this royalty or that he`s hungry, neglected and wants you now .

Gretchen is a tiny blue & white Persian (4 lbs) & full grown. who was rescued from a cat mill . It`s believed in breeding caused her health & size issues. She has nasal sinus probs because her nose is too flat . A fluffball of love and devotion.

Oliver 'jolly Olly' A smoke Persian I still count but he past over this last fall. He was my first rescue kittie and the love of my life. I got him bald from ringworm, full of parasites and so sick. We shared the ringworm for 3 years until I could get it dormant. He had serious lifelong health issues with his kidneys and UTI`s. He held all my secrets, tears and understanding of me like no other could. I miss his wise owl eyes and love so much.

Next post, the llamas

I love hearing about all these sweet pets! Juni...I think I would be right at home at your place.

Right now, I only have three pets.

Rocket is my 11 year old ShiTzu/Poodle/Scottish Terrier mix. He is a Pisces (born on my birthday) and just the sweetest, happiest little guy imaginable.

Cupcake is a 6 year old grey tabby kitty. She was born wild in a huge pile of cast off wood. We noticed one day that the owners were about to bulldoze it, so we caught little Cupcake. She was about 4 months old and all claws and spitting at first, but now she is the most loving little cat. She never did get very big.

Muffin is Cupcake's daughter and looks exactly like her mother (thus the name) except Muffin, having been born and raised with good nutrition, is a bit bigger than her mom. Both are spayed now and live a life of leisure that Donald Trump would envy.

I have also had horses, goats, fish, more cats, more dogs, chickens, pheasants, quails, robins that fell from nests in storms, parakeets, mice, a bat, a racoon...anything that was stray, hungry, injured, or needed a bit of love. I am so happy to be among like-minded animal lovers.

Fishkitten, you`re always welcome to my piece of heaven

I currently have 9 llamas. It`s always subject to birth, adopting out or in.

El Chipito :the Chipster is a male, brown, tan & white. Small for a guy but his wool is so long, it almost drags the ground. The boss of the males.

Palatino: Pal is a giant of a male, pure black and very gentle. He looks forward to being part of the outdoor Christmas plays of Christs birth.

VeJays Argus, wow the first baby born here and my very special guy. He`s soo loving he nuzzles and nuzzles your hair.Maggies boy.

Mahogeny Mist:Maggie is an elderly lady who`s given birth to 3 of my llamas. She`s a joy to handle & all the farm visitors favorite. She was my very first llama.

Sweet Peas is a lady we rescued. She needed a lot of care at first because she was expecting a cria (baby). Her previous babies were born with a heart defect so they passed at birth. She was ill treated because of this plus rebred, so we took her. The one she was pg with was baby Angelita who lived for 10 days. She is now spayed and will always be a family pet.

Dharma, another maltreated cria (baby) we took in and had a long process teaching her to love and trust. She`s a beautiful paint & she`s 5 now and I`m thinking a baby may be on the way

Majick, our little girl who had the brain worm that survived with no apparent neurological damage.Unheard of for such a complete recovery. She`s Maggie`s last cria. A spoiled brat after the 24 hr a day nursing care she required!!!!

Raindancer, a stunning appy short girl like the Chipster with glorious long sugar spun wool. Full of humor and playful. She will be bread to Chip this spring for a cria.

Maya, another of Maggies girls. Soft, gentle, an auburn color and huge for a lady. She`s 4 now full of herself.

We lost a grand dam last year to old age. A rescue who brought so much joy to the farm. Cocoa Beware was the guard llama and she took such wonderful care of her flock. We all miss her.

What a great idea Nephthys.

Juniperb just hearing about those lovely llamas puts a silly grin on my face. Someday. And your kitty jolly Olly in particular sounds wonderful. A wise old soul I bet.

As a scorp, I like an intense, exclusive relationship. So right now it's just me and my one feline friend. A virgo-type cat, VERY tidy, exceptionally large ears, softspoken, well-mannered, enjoys eating veggies - especially peas (?!). Although he likes to keep to himself, he has an odd way of knowing when I'm feeling a tad under the weather and suddenly becomes all attentive and concerned. Right now he's giving me an uneasy look. He's a private type and is probably worried I will reavel to much. So I'll end by saying this: many doors ago when I was a little girl I told my mom, who had two kitties, that one day a magic cat would mysteriously show up at the backdoor and he would be all mine and I wouldn't have to share him with anyone. Many nights I waited at that backdoor - nothin'. Flash forward ten years later and there I am comfortably ensconced with a book on the sofa when what do I spot at the back sliding-glass door. You guessed it. Being a shy virgo it took him a good 2 or 3 weeks of nightly visitations to feel safe enough to cross the threshold. I had been reading a book that night about what had possibly happened to the ten lost tribes of Israel and had just started the chapter about the tribe of Benjamin. So the mysterious lost kitty became Benjamin. Better late then never I guess.

A pavement special is a dog that has different breeds of dogs in it-if that makes sense.

My sister just brought a dog home last night-A Jack Russell.Name is MIlo and only just 2 months old- born on the 10 January making him a Cappy dog.

Hey Tink...since time is an illusion, it often seems to take a long time for some things to manifest. Once we know in our hearts something is going to happen, we expect it to show up right away. But things usually pick their own time...the best time...to actually manifest. You held your kitty in you heart as a child and in your arms as an adult. So cool how things work out.

Sweetie Pie and Locutus (of Bird): Fem and Male cockatiels, had Sweetie pie for going on six years now and Locutus for just over three years.

Tweep: Male Lovebird - he is caged w/ the fem cockatiel, they just love each other, it's so cute, he preens her and *gulp* feeds her (not so cute if you know how birds feed their young)

looove reading about everyone's pets. yes, juniperb, quite amazing and wonderful of you to have taken in so many "four-leggeds"...

i have a basset hound/lab mix who looks like Valcor from the Neverending Story movie...her name is Moose, she came with that name and barked at me ferociously for trying to change it. She is sweet and very human like...gentle yet has a frisky side!!

Three cats....Jooji, black and white, the skinny, skittish one i got her as a sick kitten at the SPCA...very sick lil one! Healthy now! Oscar...my mom found him in a dumpster...he is also black and white, very sweet, kinda a pervert...he likes to watch you undress, shower, use the restroom...and he makes this face...so i usually shoo him away...but otherwise he is very sweet! and talkative! and then there's Tiger, a tabby, very affectionate, she loves my daughter, they have a special bond!

*hanging head in shame* i have been quite the irate and impatient owner with all of them lately. single motherhood, staying home all day with the wee one drains me and i end up taking it out on the pets....any suggestions on how to make it up to them?? i feel guilty, stupid and downright terrible about it. i used to be the best dog mama and cat lover...now i have to summon patience and affection sometimes when i feel so worn out.

So right Fishkitten. That's one of the lessons he's taught me. What is true in the Eternal Now sometimes takes a while to manifest in the here and now.

Gosh, spiria, I thought my Ben was the only weirdo cat out there pushing open the bathroom door to watch me pee.

Hi lovely libra

Cleaned or uncleaned> With so much wool sheared off in the spring, I don`t have time to clean and card it.

We only do blanket/saddle cuts yet that yields a lot of cleanable wool. The llamas are starting to blow their coats now so I won`t know for about 6 weeks who needs sheared & quanities.

As the time nears, keep checking in here and we will see whats available.I promise it will be affordable Did you know you can spin your dogs coat (med to long hairs) ? I`m collecting my great pyres brushings to have a leash made out of it
