Last night, about 5:30 p.m., I saw a pigeon attack another one in our back yard. The attacker flew away, and the attackee was laying on the ground, his chest down, head up, and right wing opened out to the side. He was very pretty, a periwinkle blue, immaculately clean, with big bright eyes and looked in prime healthy condition. I ran to get my mother and told her we need to catch him and take him to Wildcare. So I went over to him and started talking to him, and he got up and walked up this short brick planter box area that we have. Then we noticed blood on the brick, and a small puncture in his chest. So we caught him and I drove him to the Humane Society, since Wildcare doesn't accept animals after 5 p.m. A volunteer from Wildcare picked him up, brought him to her place, and took care of him. I called Wildcare to check on his status today, but I guess the volunteer didn't go in today. Hopefully they'll call me and report his status. I'm sure he's fine, because he was in really good condition considering his injuries. Oh! Another important note: he had a yellow band, so I know he belonged to someone! I couldn't believe this happened, because all I have been thinking of lately, is how my dream is coming true of working with animals, since I will be going to school full time for the next 4 years, to attain a Bachelor's degree in Biology. I think it was a "sign". I felt so good in rescuing this pigeon and that my dream is on it's way! Yahoo!!!!!!!!! To add furthur information, if I maintain the minimum grade point average required for transfer, at the college I am going to now, I qualify for *guaranteed admission* to U.C. Davis!!! It is my dream to go there, because they have 2 specific Biology programs that I am interested in; Animal Biology, and Wildlife Fish and Conservation Biology. I am not sure yet which one would be the best fit for me. If I can't maintain the minimum GPA, then I will have to go to Sonoma State University and do a regular Biology program. Peace ~ IP: Logged |

Hi Saffron ~ Yes! The pigeon is in foster care with Francoise, who called me Friday eve. to give me an update that he is doing well, eating and drinking, but she said he is "very slow" and about 5 years old, which is old for a pigeon. She said she would arrange that we could release him together when the time comes! That will be exciting! I haven't had a chance to peruse those websites yet, but I will do that next! Thanks! ------------------ AWAKE Shake dreams from your hair My pretty child, my sweet one. I Love St. Francis of Assissi. An astrologer I met several years ago, when I first got computer, sent me a long encyclopedic type literature on St. Francis. (I can't remember why she sent it to me?) Anyhow, we have a little bird feeder statue in our backyard of him. Did you know that St. Francis was the first person ever in recorded history to get Stigmata? (Stigmata is an affliction of receiving the same crusifiction wounds that Jesus got). IP: Logged | |
