I have four cats, an Aqua-Cancer, a Gem-Scorp, a Libra-Pisces, and oen I'm not sure, but acts like a Libra with a lot of earthy energy. That last one, lately has been acting depressed, and I think it's due to my new work schedule. I'm working a lot of night shifts, and normally, this cat sleeps right next to me. During teh day, he normally goes out and visits with the neighbors, but he always comes home in the evning around dinner time, expecting me to be there. But the last few days, he hasn't wanted to go out and just sleeps all day on the bed or couch. He eats and drinks water fine, and otherwise seems in good health. He justs isn't acting as happy as before. My other cats don't like this new schedule either, but are adapting. But I don't think my boy is. This makes me sad. I hope that after January, I will have another change of schedule and be workign fewer nights, but right now I really need the money. I only wish my boy could understand that. IP: Logged |

Hi GM - I hear ya they are very sensitive creatures - we have 6 and you can throw them off really easy....and we are moving so we have thrown them for a loop! They know somethings up. Just a little extra attention and some extra treats they really love helps, it has for us!Hope the schedule gets better! PixieDust IP: Logged |

Well, last night's shift sucked to high hell - I was sick and feelign terrible b/c of my ovarian cysts, and they wouldn't let me off early. Yet the nurse I was working with snuck out 15 minutes early, b/c she said she was "tired." And she *knew* I was sick and in pain all night and that I had drive 30 miles further home than her. Then I had to deal with the snobby day shift who (of course) were not on time so I could leave early. When I asked the first day shift person who showed up if she minded if I left *7* minutes early, she rolled her eyes and sighed "I guess." I was so shakey and upset on the drive home, I zoned out and got pulled over by a cop for doing 77 in a 65 MPH zone (at least he was kind enough to realized how upset and sick I was, and let me off with a warning). D*mn, this job isn't worth this. I called in sick for tonight (they weren't happy at all about that), and when I go back on Wednesday night, I'm turning in a letter demanding my schedule be cut back to two nights a week. If they want me to work more, they're just going to have to start kissing my a**. This should make my boy happy. My other 3 air-water kitties can get by with a little more affection and treats, but my boy's a little too earthy.. He needs my *presence*. IP: Logged |

Hi GN - gosh sorry for all of the stress. I know how you feel, and it does not make it easier when you have "other things" on your mind. I can feel you need to make some changes in your life. We just quit our well paying jobs and have sold our house and moving to another state for a better life style and less stress. Hang in and ask for assistance and you will be guided! Actually, since I quit the night job, my cat's been much happier. Right before my last day, my boy let me know just what he thought of me working nights: he tore my bedroom apart. He cleared bookshelves, toppled stacked wooden crates I use for cubbyholes and shelves (along with everything that was in them), tipped over boxes and other containers, knocked over lamps, toppled a full laundry basket as well as a pile of washed and folded clothes, dumped all my drawing supplies and papers/sketch pads (well organized too) from my desk...I came home to a huge heap of stuff in my room. I couldn't even get to my bed, as it was literally buried. It took me a week to get it all back to how it was. This cat is a force to be reckoned with when he's not happy. But he made his point, and I've learned my lesson. No more night jobs. LOL IP: Logged | |
