Cool. Are you in Africa? I studied Vervet monkeys in my Beh. Eco. class. IP: Logged |

Yes I am in Africa, but lied about the lions, elephants, giraffe, rhinos-was joking. But seriously it is true I see Vervet monkies around my area. I hate them. When I was living in England, I saw wild foxes late at night and squirrals running up and down the trees IP: Logged |

We live across from a golf course and there are dozens of ducks that hang out there. It's amazing to watch them all fly away at once.. very cool. And there are also schools of quail that go up and down the streets. I've also seen a family of Peacock's that have been living down the same street for years. IP: Logged |

Saw a badger yesterday, though on the side of a road. Seen the live version a few times, but not often, they are shy. There's a mandarin duck on the river (nearby). He's new. Geese and mallard ducks live there all year around, they get fed a lot by locals. River = rats. Plenty of those critters about. Not so many on our row of houses, there are three cats living here. The neighbour's cat was chasing after a bird which my neighbour told me was a yellowhammer, not a blue *** like I said, not being great at ornithology. Native red squirrels have been squashed into the fringes of the U.K having been invaded by the grey type. I've only seen a red squirrel once or twice. Plenty of grey. I live in a town now, so not many of them running around here. p.s the name of the bird has been censored Foxes like feeding off dustbins in English cities. Now sacks have been replaced by wheelie bins I wonder how that will change things? Not seen many around here, not the right place. IP: Logged |

This is a Biological animal forum so you can put the species name as long as it is a true and correct species name. IP: Logged |

I used to live in Anchorage, Alaska for 24years. While living there, I saw:
- Moose
- Fox
- Lynx
- Black Bears
- Canadian Geese, Mallard Ducks,
- Beaver
- Rabbits
- Various Birds i.e. Bald Eagle, Maggpies, Ravens, Pheasants,
- Shrews
- The Alaska State Bird - The Mosquito -lol
- Frogs
- Fish - Rainbow Trout, Salmon
- Squirrels
hmmm ... that's all I can think of at the moment I now live in Palmer, Alaksa. About 45minutes north of Anchorage. Out here I don't see as much wildlife, which to me is surprising cause it's rather rural out here. Seems like the wildlife has grown accustom to Anchorage's City Life. lol.
- Moose (one, and only once in the last 5years I've been living here - which was strange, In anchorage it was common to see moose daily, especially in the summer months)
- Swans
- Canadian Geese
- Mallard Ducks
- Eagles
- Red Breasted Robins and other various birds
- Shrews
- Insets
- Rabbits
I know it's not wildlife, but we have dogs that run free in the immediate area, Ferrel Cats, Horses (not free roaming of course), Goats, Chickens, and domesticated Rabbits.

That's sad that there are Feral Cats way up there in the arctic! We are dissecting cats in one of my Bio labs right now, and one of my classmate's cats was pregnant, full term, when she was euthenized. (We use feral cats). They slit open the uterus and 2 beautiful, gorgeous, so CUTE baby kittens came out. It is so sad. They are fully formed, to me, they look like they could have been overdue, pretty large in fact. They even have their little nails on their claws. It is sad, this is what happens when people don't spay and neuter! IP: Logged |

I just discovered a family of Red Squirrels living in our Italian Cypress trees! My dog and I were swimming/playing the pool right nearby and I saw them jumping from tree to tree to fence, and back again! They are so cute! I counted 4 but there could be more, as mothers can have a litter of 3-7 offspring. I looked them up and it says that the babies stay with their Mom's until they are 18 weeks of age, which is about 4 months or so! I hope I see them again! IP: Logged |
