Okay, so my parents got this new dog. It's a lab/border collie mix but mostly lab. She's one and half years old and extremely hyper. If you open the door, she takes every chance she gets to bolt past you and run down the street. They just got her Thursday and she's ran away four times already.
And the second you close the door she's all over you. She jumps up and tried to mow you over...just extremely hyper.
And if you leave her alone for any amount of time, she tears the place up. She has chewed two pairs of my shoes, torn paper all over the place, pillows from the couches thrown around...and I'm pretty sure she pee'd on one of the couch cushions. But aside of that no peeing or pooping in the house.

It's just the running away and chewing things that irritate the crap out of me...ugg!!

Any thoughts?

Is she spayed? it not that may help a bit. she sounds like a high energy dog. maby you need to take her on long walks or to a dog park if there is one nearby. she needs to burn off some energy.

nooo not spayed...yet lol.
I'm hoping that will calm her down a bit. And I'm kind of afraid to walk her because she's very strong and I'm afraid of her getting lose and taking off...ugg!
But I can probably take her lol..
I'll give it a try..
thanks Dee!

If your afraid she might get loose play with her in the house. throw her one of those tug toys and make her bring it back. over and over and over until she uses up her energy

Make the dog do all the work. LOL

Hi Winkaway
you may want to consider taking a couple training classes with her as well

I agree with Dee, if you have a back yard get her to expand most of her energy running and playing games.

She sounds adorable

Border Collies are one of the most intelligent breeds, and one of the highest energy. + labs are high energy too.

Your dog needs a good long morning walk first thing in the morning, play time, and a good long afternoon walk or run.

Adequate excercise is not optional, it is mandatory.

Dogs are so affectionate and loving you are QUEEN to her so when you and your family arrive home of course she is going to smother you and be so happy and excited! Like the others said, just positively reinforced training will combat her excitedness.
