A group of tourists on a boat ride through the Florida Everglades got a front row seat to an incredible site: their tour guide wrestling a 10-foot python.

WBBH-TV reports guide Tommy Owen was out on the boat with a family Tuesday when he spotted the massive snake in the water. He says his instincts took over, and he hopped in after it.

"I didn't even realize it was 10 feet - definitely thought it was over 6 feet - definitely bigger than me. I didn't realize it was three times the size of my arm," Owen said.

Owen says he was able to pin the snake down enough, using what he calls "snake jujitsu," that his partner was able to kill it.

"With a snake especially that big, you get one chance to grab it by the neck where it doesn't bite you. I had him, eventually exposed the neck to Warren. I want the head away - that's the most dangerous part of the snake so I exposed the neck and he was able to eventually make that cut," Owen told WBBH-TV.

The family on the tour caught the whole incident on camera

It was non-indigenous--looking at the vid still it's either a South Asian Burmese or African Rock python--and in Floria that is a big, serious problem as these snakes are killing native species, so people think if they see one, they need to kill it.

Idiot. I have experience handling large non-indigenous snakes like these. They are always more dangerous than you think, especially in the wild, especially when you don't have the right equipment, especially in a small area like a boat and most especially in the water where you cannot see their whole body and they can move far more easily than you. OMG. What an idiot.
