Best Buddies Pet Pantry is an all-volunteer 501c3 non-Profit organization that provides free pet food to families in need in Porter, Lake & LaPorte County Indiana. During these difficult economic times, American families across the nation are struggling to make ends meet and must rely on food banks to supplement their food source. Unfortunately, pets also suffer and do not get proper care and nutrition. Sadly some are disposed of along side the road and sometimes starve to death. Many family pets are given up to animal shelters. This causes overcrowding and increases the number of pets euthanized. The pantry's mission is to reduce the number of pets surrendered to shelters due to lack of food and keep families and their pets together. Best Buddies Pet Pantry is now in it's third year of service in the community. It operates as a mobile "pet pantry on the go", taking pet food to various distribution sites. The pantry also provides free pet supplies, cat litter, flea & tick treatments (when available), information for spay/neuter services, low-cost vaccine clinics and emergency pet food assistance. Currently the pantry helps approximately 500 families in need every month in Northwest Indiana.
Community involvement & awareness is needed for the pantry to continue it's mission! Can your business, school, church or club organize a pet food drive and collect food for the pantry? 3rd Annual Holiday Pet Food Drive
November 15 - December 31
Please donate to help a family pet in need! Pet items needed: any new dog &
cat food, food for fish/birds/rabbits/ferrets, dog biscuits/treats, cat treats, new/
gently used collars & leashes, plastic shopping from grocery/discount stores,
pet food coupons. Donations are tax-deductible and can be dropped at any
donation box (see locations on page 3). Receipt can be provided if needed.
Our sincere thanks to everyone who supports the pantry's mission ... by making donations, transporting,
sponsoring for events, prepares for distributions, volunteers at distributions and fundraising events,
storage, advertising and spreading the word about Community support is greatly appreciated and enables
the pantry to continue it's mission of helping to keep families and pets together!
