Fayte, thank you for what you said about Jesus and the cross. I've such a problem with that whole concept...A God that is love sending a son to die...a such a horrible death....a God that is omnipotent, omniscient...why would it even be neccessary?
There is a church here in my area that promotes the risen Christ rather than the crucified Christ. By that I mean that in their gift shop/bookstore they sell necklaces and such of the risen Christ.
It's a kind of new-age-christian church and the image they project is at least a more positive and less guilt-ridden one than the typical churches.
Anyway, I guess my point is, I don't know why Christ is on the cross...but I don't like it.

Blessings

something to ponder.
Saturn's Child! You understand it seems, how it feels to me too. Something is not right.
I'm not sure how much I should point out about serious Biblical flaws and contradictions, in all versions. And for those who think there is only one Holy Bible...wrong!!!!

wow
lot of thoughts in my mind right now

i love the imagery of the bible but i have learned to take it more personal
like im the book
im adam/ eve
creation
moses
job
Jesus
death
revelation
i have my Garden of Gethesemane(sp)
there are things that true love sacrafices itself for
when i examined my life i realized these are the struggles i choose/ this is living
to accept responsibilty for your
path through life
utilize these parables
truths
all things are necessary
sometimes when there is two poles like this
hate......................................love
and a persons here
hate..here.................................love
maybe we need to tip it with hate so it wil ping back to love
but say one is here
hate.................here.................love
then one should love to push to love
Christ represents the ultimate polarity master he knew what was needed when it was needed
people want to subtract elements when they identify with one element of something but to reduce a matters elements makes it become closer to anti matter.
evolution involves more ingredients of matter merging
wood is of the earth
matter
to be hung up on matter
until matter dies and evolves /transfrms/merges into higher spirit
Christ to me represents finding and accepting ones true Divinity
recognition
acceptance
transformation
revelation
the death on the cross showed Christ changing into a butterfly!
an eye for an eye yes sometimes
turn the other cheek
yes sometimes
to be wise enough to know when which is needed = Christ conscience
balanced elements =perfection

i think i've read somewhere that the cross was a pre-christian symbol meaning "as above, so below"...the vertical pointing toward the heavens and the horizontal representing the physical plain.

if so, making christ on the cross a christian symbol might have been a way of incorporating pagan symbols into christianity...a powerful symbol used to equate the idea of gods and goddesses in heaven to the idea of Jesus as a god on earth.
