And then he got bored.
Then he said let there be no light.

Do you really believe in such a God?
Then you are a fool.

The light was and will always be there.
Just as darkness does not exists in a room when you light a candle. It was never there. Same way your own darknesses and egos does not exists.

Buddhas contribution to the universe is immense. When he says the self does not exists. It never existed. Therefore he appeals to the logical minds even though they are one of the most egoistic people on earth. Egoist because they are motivated by awards such as nobel prize etc. They seek recognition.

The capital period of my intellectual development was when I could see clearly that what the intellect said might be correct and not correct, that what the intellect justified was true and its opposite was also true. I never admitted a truth in the mind without simultaneously keeping it open to the contrary of it.. And the first result was that the prestige of the intellect was gone." - Aurobindo

Mostly open to interpretation. The Old Testament is pretty darn old. Certainly the minds who wrote it down and to whom it was first communicated are different than ours today. Different people and experiences and beliefs, etc. There was a time when the creation of the world was seen also as a rather grand birthing. First there is the darkness of the womb, then there is light. From Chaos to Order. On and on with interps and the like.

I don't actually believe in the "flick the switch" theory myself (pardon my irreverance) but there are those who do. Whatever floats your ark, I say.

Juni yes my friend and thats what I call karma. I don't have any if I speak the truth. Truth when spoken calls people from everywhere to you. Its not a boomergang that it must return to the sender in a negative way. One seed makes the whole world green. So it is with truth. It brings life to a dead world.

Eleanor - Hehe..whatever floats your ark. Nice one. Hmm..I think that you understand what is christian/jewish conditioning. Or atleast not an closed minded person.

Juni, Ever hear of "Ex nihilo"?

I wish that it is the first thing they start teaching anyone in any temple and not just the three faiths.

Quote: The finger pointing to the moon is not the moon.

i.e don't get attached to words of the scripture. You will get caught on the authors finger. Get a glimpse of the moon that he is pointing to. Get a direct experience

And the disciples begged "Master give us the commandments". Jesus replied "I give you no commandments... you must love one another as I have loved you".
