In fact, I think that may be
the entire lesson, in a nutshell.

I see that you are not
"idly licking a bone".
But I think its dangerous
to imagine that you
are The Do-er
(or the co-Do-er).

Part of knowing you are not a god,
is knowing you are not your will.
And you can only lift yourself up
just so far, by flexing your will power.

There are traps everywhere, yes.
And those who wait are as lost
as those who think they can
shepherd the process.

The real work, the truth, is subtle.
"Finer than a razor's edge."

I like to point those things out.
I dont think they are meaningless,
or fatalistic, but poignant
to anyone on a spiritual path
(i.e. anyone who knows
they are on a spiritual path).

I dont mean to put any blocks in yours.

Who makes these changes?

I shoot an arrow right. It lands left.
I ride after a deer and find myself chased by a hog.
I plot to get what I want and end up in prison.
I dig pits to trap others and fall in.

I should be suspicious of what I want.
