Just curious: for those who do have a religion, what is your style of worship? Formal? Informal? Structured? Relaxed? Where do you like to worship--in what kind of building?IP: Logged |

when i was younger i prayed every night nowadays i only pray every once in a while-unfortunately- i am going through a "rough patch" spiritually but deep down i know it wont last forever..i fast a few days in Ramadan just to support my fasting friends, i also know my way around a church (been to sermons, weddings, etc..) i know a few prayers, most of which my grandma taught me, however reciting them absent mindedly doesn’t give me any gratitude at all.. thats why sometimes i repeat the same prayers 10+ times just to make sure im actually thinking of what im saying. to me, my relationship with God is personal, i dont need someone to dictate to me what to say, or how to act or to judge my methods.. He who knows us better than ourselves does not need all those formalities.. now that I think about it, all I have been saying in my prayers lately was that I’m sorry on and on again in tears, oddly I think that’s enough..

I just pray. It works.------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |

this is my favorite church. http://www.galinsky.com/buildings/churchoflight/index.htm i like the peace of a temple too. except i hate it when the taxicab overcharges you coz they know u r a tourist that came from the temple. ramadan seriously seems awesome and healthy too perhaps.. i eat halal food (i think) sometimes if it is offered in the breakfast buffet. actually 100% of the time if it is offered i will eat that. it tastes different in a good way to me. Regardes - ahh what great picutres. I was raised Catholic, but my parents (Irish Catholic) never forced it on me after my First Communion. I wasn't confirmed because I loved learning about all the religions of the world. Studying international relations in college was amazing in letting me explore various cultures/religions. I lived in Rome and just fell in love with churches. Living a 15 min walk from the Vatican sorta has that effect. I do not like the "Modern" churches at all. I am old school and formal. I love the architecture, the Gothic and roman arches, the stain glass, the smell, the old wood pews, the old books. I love the choir and traditional hymns, not at all into the Christian folk or Christian rock stuff they do now. It actually saddens me to see some colleges try to make Church "casual". That being said, I take a lot of religion with a grain of salt. I use Mass as a time for meditation and the time to reflect (in a pretty place, yes), but I do not take anything literally at all. While I love the history of the Bible, I feel that it is outdated, specifically the homosexuality/abortion/birth control. I don't receive Communion or go to Confession. I could probably be just as happy in a Temple or a Mosque, assuming they were pretty, lol. Churches are just familiar so I gravitate there. I take what I want from it and enjoy the tradition, history and unity but I just adjust it to my taste ------------------ Aqua Sun Gem Moon Aries RIsing IP: Logged |

Common garden type non-practicing Christian. I agree Randall, prayer is the way to go. IP: Logged |
