The way I see it, the tools for such a person are gradually being put into place.

Shared resources
The need for resources
A consensus of acceptable and unacceptable State behavior toward other States
Wealth is now more or less denominated in a small handful of currencies

Put it this way, the internet is now live in sub sahran Africa, even 30 yrs ago that area was considered a hopeless backwater

When this system runs into turbulence, the cry around the globe will be for "someone" to fix it..ie...the stage is set

Add in, Christians and other religions, who USED to be examples of morality and ethics etc, are giving that Authority away rapidly

Some may say "good, we no longer need a "God" construct", which will then put the ball into man's court.

Well throwing Gnosticism into the mix its worth noting that the Antichrist in that sense is Jesus's opposite or other-half/twin Pleroma, his divine-syzygy hehe

quote:
The Great Archon, or Aeon-Creator, of the Universe; according to others it is the passion of the female Aeon Sophia, who emanates without her partner Aeon, resulting in the Demiurge (Greek Δημιουργός ,[1] a creature that should never have come into existence. This creature does not belong to the Pleroma, and the One emanates two savior Aeons, Christ [Jesus] and the Holy Spirit [Anti/Opposite/Yin-Yang-Christ], to save humanity from the Demiurge. [False God of Genesis II - Satan]

Quite the theological minefield betwixt all the various theorems.

Then let us not forget the Matrix rendition of the Gnostic interpretation, perhaps the Antichrist / Savior will come in the form of a lavishly attractive computer genius.

Would that be the UK daily mail, juni?

Could it be that doomsday has been imminent since at least the 11th c?

Russians the other day reckoned the meteor that hit there was the end of the world...apparently there were also meteors in cuba, and friday in the sf bay area. No one i know saw the last..

kat, I think is was. I was just pondering how wasteful to live in fear like the doomsdayers

We are all born to die so when and how isn`t something one should dwell on in such a futile fashion. But... life wouldn`t be as comical if they didn`t exist.

Well, just wanted to point out that "Anti" in Greek of that era means "instead of" where as today it is taken to mean "against".

I do agree with JuniperB, why waste time worrying about the end of the world?

Life is short, enjoy it while it lasts, worrying won't add a single second to your life.

Too true, and yes the comic relief is, well, fun..sorry, ami, no disrespect meant, but i will believe this only when i see it.

The uk mail is treated as an extended Funnies rag by most brits...and by others as reason to despair...rather like our own FOX corp

I'm afraid the end will always be nigh (sigh)

edit: i heard it was lightning, not an earthquake, that struck rome on his announcement...? perhaps there will also be a flood, meteor shower and rome will burn again?
