I tend to go by basic dictionary definitions.
Somewhat similar,
but one can have faith in something and not subscribe to a religion.

faith
1.
Complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
2.
Strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.

Synonyms
belief - trust - confidence - credence - credit

religion
1.
The belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, esp. a personal God or gods.
2.
Details of belief as taught or discussed.

Synonyms
faith - belief - creed - denomination

you know what is funny?
90% of people reffer to religion as strictly christian religion.
from my point of view religion is: pagan, christian(orthodox and catholic),muslim,hindu..what else? it is monotheistic and polytheistic.

I have been called ”religious” because i pronounced the word ”God”. People literally freak out when you mention this word. Like ”ugh, you”re gonna preach me the bible, and condemn me to hell! stay away!”
But if i speak about moon rites, divination and candle magic, yoga etc. its ”wow! you are spiritual, evolved and mystical.”

In my opinion, religion = a set of rites practiced in the name of a divinity.

whereas faith is the belief in a divinity/deity without necessarily performing any rite/routine.

So, no im not going to preach you anything. I found God not in teachings, but as a result of my past experiences. There is nothing for me to preach.

I am going off topic here, but my point is that i wish people to respect their own rules like ”freedom of religion”. You gained yours from former christians in past, then why should you condemn us, christians of present days and turn exactly into those you so badly hate?
You feel attacked, we feel attacked too,so can anything good come out of this? its pointless. My religion or faith is stupid? so be it, it is my choice. Let me be stupid and live stupid. I love my stupidity, i enjoy it, it is liberating. I am happy with a non proved God.

My boyfriend is a pessimistic atheist. I cannot tell you how many times he got on my nerves with his intelligent comments about religions. And how many times i got on his nerves with my illogical arguments on God. In the end we realised we love eachother and nothing else matters.
But you do need logic to survive in this world, and you also need that spark of spirituality that has no meaning whatsoever. I believe that science is meant to work with faith, not against.

Here is a set of my favourite illogical quotes on divinity :

“Can a mortal ask questions which God finds unanswerable? Quite easily, I should think. All nonsense questions are unanswerable.” C.S. Lewis

”I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn’t, than live my life as if there isn’t and die to find out there is.” Albert Camus

“I could not say I believe. I know! I have had the experience of being gripped by something that is stronger than myself, something that people call God.” Carl Jung

”My theology, briefly, is that the universe was dictated but not signed.” Christopher Morley

”God is not what you imagine or what you think you understand. If you understand you have failed.” Saint Augustine

“It is easy to understand God as long as you don’t try to explain him.” Joseph Joubert

“But I always think that the best way to know God is to love many things.” Vincent van Gogh, Dear Theo: An Autobiography of Vincent van Gogh, 1937

”God is not a cosmic bellboy for whom we can press a button to get things done.” Harry Emerson Fosdick

”You can tell the size of your God by looking at the size of your worry list. The longer your list, the smaller your God.” ~Author Unknown

”God is, even though the whole world deny him. Truth stands, even if there be no public support. It is self-sustained.” Mahatma Gandhi

Talk and action.

There's a lot of talk that goes on here. It's one of the many things that has helped to turn me away from it all. Kind of disgusting on all fronts.
