http://www.christiantoday.com/article/taiwanese.town.builds.church.shaped.like.a.shoe.to.attract.female.worshippers/76355.htm quote: Church has taken on a new look in Taiwan, where a giant Cinderella-inspired glass slipper has been built as a house of worship, hoping to entice more women to church. The church, which was completed yesterday, is located next to the sea in Budai Town, on the east coast of Taiwan. It towers over the surrounding buildings at 55 feet tall and 36 feet wide. The architecture of the shoe-shaped-building, which is made out of 320 pieces of blue-tinted glass, has been designed to intentionally target female worshippers
Make of it what you will. I don't know much about Taiwanese culture specifically so I'm not sure what's inspiring this (and take their word on what they say in the article), if they're charging money to use it for weddings and such, and if it's specifically for photo ops and weddings or if it serves worshipers in other ways as well. This made me wonder if it serves a specific purpose only: quote: The church is designed to host weddings and provide photo opportunities
Does this mean that it's STRICTLY for that? If so, then the title is being disingenuous, but many news articles are. OTOH, if it's a "full service" church, then will it be attended after women marry? Will Taiwanese men mind going to church there, or will they feel silly and prefer another church? I can't say, but it's interesting! IP: Logged |
