While living in India I found some Hare Krishna organitzations and I found them amazing, giving food to people who needs it and spreading love.

Also that Beatle George Harrison was a Hare Krishna right?
I don't kmow that much about it because I am 25 and this movement was famous in Europe long ago but now it isnt.

Anyway... I thought they were peacefull hippies but then I found out that they have very radical ideas like...

They speak like everyone who isnt a Hare Krishna is suposed to be an inferior human being, or... woman who use cosmetics or nice clothes are lusty and kind of ' evil' and sex is considered disgusting even if you are married ( can just be used for making babies).

Even I found there some stuff a bit sexist, like... woman can't teach the scriptures and woman are suposed to just serve their husbands or fathers.

I am sure is not like that everywhere. I just freaked out a bit because my idea about hinduism was that they are super tolerant with other beliefs and that they arent that radical.

How did it become like that?
Its a pitty because their mantras and spirituality is really beautifull.

Do you know anything about it or had any experience related to it?

Thanks!

They don't eat meat, because the animals are treated badly, but they drink milk (cows are also treated badly).

Acording to them they are no eating meat because they think they will be reincarnated into a pig or cow.
Which from my view its not the reality of reeincarnation.
Also I am vegetariam myself, but I know a lot of amazing people who eat meat and I don't think they will turn into pigs cows or chiken.

Hi Shulia

I think you might find that that's true of many organized sects, eastern or western.

With each group, all the organized groups of religions/philosophies have socially-scientifically researched and planned-ways on How to recruit followers. (It's like marketing salesmanship.)

After a while, you get 'habituated' to being with them. The longer you stay, the harder it is to break from them if you uncover something terrible and unseemly.

Really comes down to the quality of Character of each 'individual' that has been chosen to comprise their core-group.

That is... they get 'human'!

I gained familiarity with that group and attended some of their house-meetings a handful of times, when I was in college in the 1970s. Campus was filled with Religious(philosophic) groups, from the Krishnas to the Jesus Movement, then later, I attended house-meetings with Buddhists.

Neptune had entered the sign of Sagittarius.

From what I've gathered, these (AND western religions) are very interested in the Purity of the soul, with corresponding works (behaviors).

"Lust" is a heavy vibration ... as when intoxicated. Remain that way too long, and it can lead a person to making some VERY bad decisions, with life-long (unwanted) consequences.

e.g. extra-marital sexual affairs, leading to pregnancies, STD's, broken homes, issues of emotional betrayal/disloyalty;
divorce, social embarrassment, and heavy financial penalties.
e.g. 'Lust for money' (like addiction to thrill in a gambling or overspending addiction) can also do horrendous damage in relationships of various kinds.

Indulging Lust-energy for too long is like living off candy-bars and sugar for your main nutrition. Rots away at your spiritual life and can drain Higher Potentials in life.

But, what you were saying about them blaming their own potential-moral-failures on women????, is an OLD repeating story.

Women tend to get scapegoated in the narrow traditional dogmatic sects (eastern and western).

In the old and new testaments (bible) the WOMEN were dragged out to the public circles, and put to death by stoning, when caught in the act of having sex with a man.

You know too??? It wasn't even noted if that sex was consensual? She could have been in the act of being raped by that scumbag??!

Women's interests NEED to be Protected and Defended.

No longer to be treated as Secondary-Citizens... EVEN if married.

I want to point something out about YOU.

You said your were... "just freaked out a bit because my idea about hinduism was that they are super tolerant with other beliefs ...
... It is a pitty because their mantras and spirituality is really beautiful."

This and the other statement you made about 'giving food to people who need it and spreading love' IS a BEAUTIFUL simple and very Fresh spiritual viewpoint to have.

Maybe in the Future we CAN have more people who individually carry that kind of Light.

EACH person is accountable for How they fulfill the Law of Love.

Love GOD with all your Mind, Heart, Soul and Being--

And Love your Neighbor 'as' yourself.

What does the LORD require of you?
To act justly,
and to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with your God.

-- Micah 6:8 {scripture}

Oh thank you so much Mirage your answer is full of love and gave me hope. Maybe there is not a perfect religion but somehow the truth is here and we can find it anyway inside of us and there will be always people like you who give light.

I think in the future religions will maybe get more tolerant and closer to the truth and to understanding and loving others.
Till then... its better to just pick the good things and leave the rest.

Its a pitty because I think spirituality can make this world better more than politics.
And so much people who look for it get freaked out and then lose also the good things spiritual windsom could give them.
But I believe it will improve with time.

Big hugg for you too, I really loved your answer!

I like your Vision of the Future.
And YES, choose the Good you find on-offer. As an old adage advises, Keep the wheat and blow away the chaff.

Politics and Spirituality?
The balance of those two issues have been weighed, sorted; and has been the reason behind loss of thrones, empires, exiles, estrangements, wars and bloodshed for multiple thousands of years.

I do know what you're saying. Ideally the candidate should have a level of being spiritually awake, possess a Refinement of Character, empathy (ability to put self in other's shoes), and miles of practical Wisdom.
(among other things)

I enjoyed your responses....

I had some of their material a while back, and it said that animals are mistreated and violently killed, and we take in that negativity when we eat their flesh--or something like that.
