apologies if this is retreading old ground for anyone. i have not been to this forum much. but here is my dilemma with the 2 systems...i first discovered numerology in the pythagorean, more commonly used, system. they make sense when you don't know its not the only system. but then i discovered the chaldean through linda. what blew me away out of the gate was my daughter's numerology lineup..though she was born in 83, before star signs, so it was all unintentional, she was born on the 24th, and her first name and full name both add up to 24/6. her full name was finally arrived at after much difficulty, hemming and hawing... but the pythagorean works better in some other cases i know, or rather fits the people/situations better. has anyone else studied these differences and what would make you choose either system over the other? or do you mix them depending on the purpose of your quest? How nice for your daughter that she has the same awesome compound number for her name and her birthday! That doesn't happen very often. For the numbers/letters key and the interpretation of the compound (karmic) numbers, I prefer Chaldean. It has been most accurate for me. In my experience, the number derived from the Western numerology name/numbers key only seems to fit occasionally. I also don't like that they have so many different numbers - soul, destiny, lifepath, etc, etc. All these interpretations get muddled together after a while. Sooner or later your bound to have a number that suits you. I do, however, like the interpretations for the single digit numbers. While similar to Chaldean, they are not so grim or severe and seem to reflect a modern day life. So I guess I use both, but mostly Chaldean. Hope this helps. IP: Logged |

my experience has been mostly with the chaldean system, although i do have to say i do not completely disregard the pythagorean system. edgar cayce used it, and i once ordered the cayce numerological profile from A.R.E's website and it while back then i was not familiar with the kind of system he was using, the interpretations seemed amazingly accurate, i am referring to the single number interpretations just like Jai said this might only be in my case, but i've my inner soul urge number according to the pythagorean system is 6, and amazingly enough, every single guy i've been romantically inclined towards has this birthday(6,15 or 24).so i guess i dont disregard either system, but follow the chaldean more. interesting discussion katatonic love n peace -gooober ------------------ while the soul slumbers God talks to us in numbers.. I have been practicing numerology for over 12 years. I have tried many systems. For name interpretation i find the Chaldean more accurate, though in some cases i use slightly different values for the letters as i go as per the phonetic pronunciation. I sometimes rectify values referring to kabalsitic numerology as i find its the parent of what we call "Chaldean numerology". The "Pythagorean" system is useful for analyzing cycles and personal years, months etc.I also use the western version of Chinese numerology and i find it useful too. i use it to analyse the date of birth. I ALWAYS use both, quite successfully. I use pythagorean for the superficial, more human aspects. I use chaldean for more esoteric and karmic analysis, when I want to know the ultimate fate. IP: Logged |
