This is from the Guardian newspaper. Tough questions. I've excluded a sexual one as I'm not sure it is suitable for the forum. Otherwise, they're all there, including ones I don't like.

*What is your idea of perfect happiness?

* With which historical figure do you most identify?

* What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

* What is the trait you most deplore in others?

* What vehicles do you own?

* What objects do you always carry with you?

* What do you most dislike about your appearance?

* What is your most unappealing habit?

* What is your favourite smell?

* What is your favourite word?

* What is your favourite book?

* Should the Royal Family be scrapped?

* Do you believe in monogamy?

* What or who is the greatest love of your life?

* Have you ever said 'I love you' and not meant it?

* Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

* How do you relax?

* What single thing would improve the quality of your life?

* What keeps you awake at night?

* How would you like to die?

* Do you believe in life after death?

* My idea of perfect happiness?

Switching off from the world about me and being engrossed in the moment.

* What is your greatest fear?

Bird 'flu pandemic, maybe. I'm not happy squished in the middle of a large crowd.

* With what historical figure do you most identify?

A peasant woman just getting on with it.

* What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

Idleness.

* What is the trait you most deplore in others?

Not sure of the word but it would describe a mixture of selfishness, pettiness and narrowmindedness.

* What vehicles do you own?

A car and a pushbike. The car gets more use.

* What objects do you always carry with you?

Keys. Mobile. Money. Credit Cards. Pictures of the family. Donor card. Tampons. Sorry, not meaning to be crass, there.

* What do you most dislike about your appearance?

It's not something I lose sleep over. I don't know. Facial hair? There's plenty of beauticians in town trying to make a living out of removing it so that's a good one to worry about.

* What is your most unappealing habit?

Oh, I think my husband would say spreading my stuff everywhere. He says I do it if we just arrive somewhere, and all of a sudden the room is full of my things. Like a dog spraying up a lampost, apparently. Territorial. Or maybe he thinks too much, he's Virgo Rising, as well.

* What is your favourite smell?

Fresh manly sweat.

* What is your favourite word?

I'll have to think about this one.

* What is your favourite book?

"When Bad Things Happen to Good People" is right up there. "Wuthering Heights" for fiction is hard to beat.

* Should the Royal Family be scrapped?

No, as long as they don't cost me money. They've got enough of their own, why do they need mine?

* Do you believe in monogamy?

I don't have strong views about it. I behave how my partner expects me too, if that is a question about my personal conduct, but isn't that what most mature adults would do?

* What or who is the greatest love of your life?

My sons.

* Have you ever said 'I love you' and not meant it.

No. I don't repeat it like a parrot, if I say it, I mean it.

* Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

'that is not acceptable behaviour'.

* How do you relax?

Wasting time on the 'net. Music, film, books, pressing the switch off button. I learnt off my dad, saves the bother of pills and therapy.

* What single thing would improve the quality of your life?

More money? It is always handy.

* What keeps you awake at night?

Trying to remember if the cat is in or out and whether she would like to do the opposite of the answer.

* How would you like to die?

At home with a morphine drip.

* Do you belive in life after death?

Yes.

Firstly, I love the Guardian. When I lived in the UK, it was my daily paper. Wish we had one like that here. Secondly, I wish you had put in the sexual question, makes my Uranian brain tingle with the possibilities... LOL

*What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Everyone I know, or would ever happen to know, being content and getting thier hearts desire... ideally. But as long as my family and friends are happy and healthy, I'm good.

* With which historical figure do you most identify?

I don't know. Fictional? The Mad Hatter. Time is irrelevant, and absurdity is devine.

* What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

Giving too much energy to things that don't matter in the end... I think I've kinda ruined any chance for my own success with that one..

* What is the trait you most deplore in others?

Intolerance. Seriously ya'll... Get the eff over it... we're all sharing the planet. And if "God", or whatever you claim you are "upholding the teachings of" really wanted you to do the crap you do, they would have done it them bloody selves. Just love each other. Trust and believe, that is a greater Eutopia than whatever you think you are getting in your "afterlife".

* What vehicles do you own?

An Explorer and a Camry. Can't wait for this insurance BS to be over and i can get my hybrid. I would totally just have a bike, if I didn't live in Uber Rural Maine...

* What objects do you always carry with you?

Money, chap stick, phone, glasses.

* What do you most dislike about your appearance?

I always wondered what it would be like to have perfect skin.

* What is your most unappealing habit?

Mouthing off, I guess.. can't help it. Leo moon and merc in Aqua... tends to leave me with a foot in my mouth most of the time. And the amazing ability to not give a flying eff, and feel immense guilt at the same time... Funny, that...

* What is your favourite smell?

Summer.

* What is your favourite word?

Family

* What is your favourite book?

History of Religion

* Should the Royal Family be scrapped?

I don't think it really matters. I believe they are like Bush, figure heads at this point.

* Do you believe in monogamy?

Yes. I think it is possible, but it certainly takes work. I think we would all be better off if we didn't hold such stock in it... but that's just me...

* What or who is the greatest love of your life?

ME! Lol... I can't yet answer that. It has yet to happen.

* Have you ever said 'I love you' and not meant it?

yes. I was a douche bag in my youth.

* Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

Seriously? Seriously...

* How do you relax?

I put on my bathing suit, jump on the pontoon boat, and float my troubles away....

* What single thing would improve the quality of your life?

Stability, I bet. But EFF that!!

* What keeps you awake at night?

Work. i dream about things I may have forgotten to do, or not done as well as I could have... Damn 10th house Cappy Venus... friggin' work perfectionist....

* How would you like to die?

Fat and happy, thank you.

* Do you believe in life after death?

Yes.

* How would you like to be remembered?

However I should be remembered. Everyone will have their own opinoin, and they are entitled to it.

* What is the most important lesson life has taught you?

Be who you are, do whatever you want to do, just so long as you don't hurt anyone. And remember kids, I am your friend. ~Margaret Mead

It was 'how often do you have sex' ~ it's not that bad, but I wouldn't want to upset anyone.

Oh, and I'm not going to answer that, my husband might be reading.

and I missed these two!

* How would you like to be remembered?

My family saying, 'do you remember when?' - I don't really feel the need to be immortalised.

* What is the most important lesson life has taught you?

It is hard to answer this seriously with a cat sticking it's bum in your face. Probably that somethings aren't worth getting upset over, take a deep breath and move on.

*What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Ultimately? Probably always having something to do that I feel is meaningful.

* With which historical figure do you most identify?

I'm not sure yet. Maybe Ben Franklin.

* What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

Every coin has two sides. I can't think of something I want to get rid of without thinking about why it's helpful to have.

* What is the trait you most deplore in others?

    Aggressive cruelty

* What vehicles do you own?

A Jeep, and several pairs of shoes

* What objects do you always carry with you?

Cell phone, cards (ATM, License, Insurance, Blockbuster, etc.), keys, money (if I have cash), contact lenses, sunglasses

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Not looking to another person to substitute something lacking in me.

With which historical figure do you most identify?
Marie Antoinette. Thoughtless bint with no concept of real poverty.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
Exaggeration

What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Bossiness

What vehicles do you own?
A bike. I did part-own a 24 year old beige volkswagen that was like a pimp's car but I lost it in a custody battle. Aww nuts.

What objects do you always carry with you?
Three moleskine notebooks that are like diaries so I dare not leave them anywhere as I often write sentimental shite in them when I'm drunk

What do you most dislike about your appearance?
My big conk

What is your most unappealing habit?
Getting defensive with people who try to help me

What is your favourite smell?
The sea

What is your favourite word?
Pod

What is your favourite book?
"Sophie's Choice" - William Styron

Should the Royal Family be scrapped?
Yes. It has no place in this world. Who the eff do they think they are roaming around the country landing their helicopters in people's gardens for a laugh at £20,000 a pop? Senseless and thoughtless, whilst some kids I know don't own a toothbrush. I don't mind the Queen that much because she seems to have a bit of humility, but the rest of them are evil and they dress really badly for people with so much money. Wasted on the lot of them, the buffoons.

Do you believe in monogamy?
Yes but I'm never sure the person I'm with believes in it too.

What or who is the greatest love of your life?
I don't know. I hope it's a he, I hope he's sexy, I hope he likes my nose and I hope he loves me back

Have you ever said 'I love you' and not meant it?
Yes, but I will never ever ever do that again.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
"Absolutely" and swearwords

How do you relax?
With a book.

What single thing would improve the quality of your life?
A place where I could settle for a long time - not necessarily owned by me

What keeps you awake at night?
1) Not having a place to settle yet
2) Mice in the cavity wall

How would you like to die?
1) Having accepted death as a part of life
2) Quickly!

Do you believe in life after death?
Yes

How would you like to be remembered?
As an old person of "local flavour" eg the crazy lady with all the goats and cats, who chases people off her land and smells a bit ripe. People would say "Remember that crazy lady with all the goats and cats who smelled a bit ripe? She was effin nuts she was"

What is the most important lesson life has taught you?
That you really must be brave and be yourself because if you don't then you will make yourself and others very unhappy.

Re: Happiness

Home, hearth, with a two way flow relationship where we love equally. No one has a heavier or lighter balance.
sounds a little like plumbing.

historical figure:

I am not sure it is 'identify' so much as aspire to and right now I would say QE I.
strength, intellegence, passion, all of it I would guess. The complexities of that woman were enormous.

trait you most deplore: Others

stupid rudeness; that which differs from the intentioned kind. It usually involves the uncaring self involved ninny. They really have no clue whatsoever.

Deplore in self:

Not making eye contact in public is one.
Vehicles:

auto only; shame- I would love a bike

constant companions as objects:

Keys, a few months ago I would have also said cigs and a lighter.

dislike about your appearance:

legs, bit like a Draft pony. To cheer myself I shop at a Walmart once or twice a year.

unappealing habit?

I will stay away from the twitchy gross... (everyone has at least one) and go for the more revealing.
Evading personal questions. Rarely a direct answer, and really annoying. I am braking the habit

favorite smell:

Toughie. I have the olfactories of a bloodhound. Right now? Fresh washed spring air, after rain the night before.

favorite word:

flatulent

favourite book:

dictionary

Royals?

NOMB but, no.

believe in monogamy?

Yes

greatest love of your life:

It would appear we have yet to meet

Have you ever said 'I love you' and not meant it?

yes, to my mother- I don't believe I do.

phrases do you most overuse:

"like", "so anyway" and curse words

How do you relax:

the pg version is to say yoga and a glass of wine.

What single thing would improve the quality of your life?

They say if you have a loved one you live longer, of course they also say that about pets.

What keeps you awake at night?

the hamster on the wheel in my brain.

How would you like to die?

the hamster will quietly, and gently fall off.

life after death?:

Currently, no.

How would you like to be remembered?

as interesting, not just a pain in the ass.

most important lesson life has taught you:

Everything happens for a reason.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Inner peace.

* With which historical figure do you most identify?

Frida Kahlo

* What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

Procrastination/Indecision

* What is the trait you most deplore in others?

Judgement over ridiculous things, that have nothing to do with the heart and soul of a person.

* What vehicles do you own?

1994 Toyota Corrola, currently being used for storage. A 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee, currently repoed by the ex. And a sunny yellow bicycle, circa 1970-something, mine all mine!!

* What objects do you always carry with you?

Nothing is an always. I swim alot. But, for a MOSTLY, I have; celly, keys, smokes, lipgloss, journal/writing utensil, and camera.

* What do you most dislike about your appearance?

I need to get my front tooth and the one next to it re-crowed, because they make my smile crooked. Could do without the lines here and there, but, I find them livable.

* What is your most unappealing habit?

Do we have all day? No. OK, actually, I'de rather not answer that one.

* What is your favourite smell?

Coconut tanning oil

* What is your favourite word?

Redemption/Epiphany (couldn't choose)

* What is your favourite book?

This Much I Know is True - Wally Lamb

* Should the Royal Family be scrapped?

I do not feel qualified to answer because I am an American.

* Do you believe in monogamy?

Yes, and hopefully, I can find a man sometime who does too.

* What or who is the greatest love of your life?

I love everyone. But the great loves have been; My Grandfather, My middle brother, My friend Dale, and My son Chad. Only one remains in tact, which is what scares me about loving people. OH, and this dog, MOJO, I have a strange, unearthly love for him as well.

* Have you ever said 'I love you' and not meant it?

NO, never, not once.

* Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

"Dammit Man"
"Why?"
and a bunch of cuss word variations, and some very creative twists of my own, that nobody wants to hear, I'm sure.

* How do you relax?

Take a shower, drink hot coffee, and turn on computer.
If I'm actually dragged out somewhere, I like to listen to live music, dance and get schnookered with friends.
OH, ultimate relaxation is swimming and being in the sun.

* What single thing would improve the quality of your life?

I've created my own prison, and so I just need to figure out where I put the key.

* What keeps you awake at night?

Things people said or did not say during the day.

* How would you like to die?

Drowning or being bit by a shark whilst surfing.

* Do you believe in life after death?

YES

* How would you like to be remembered?

The way I really am, and not a funeral home version. I have people in charge of these things, they won't let me down!

* What is the most important lesson life has taught you?

NEVER SAY NEVER, OR YOU WILL FOR SURE, DO THAT THING YOU SAID YOU WOULD NEVER DO!!!!

*What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Can I just post Gypsee's recent post here? It's that feeling of all just being well with with the world. A feeling of being in the right place at just the right time. Synchronicity. I wish you could recreate that feeling of perfect happiness, but you can't. Maybe that's why so many people either become depressed or turn to drugs/alcohol.

* With which historical figure do you most identify?
Can I pick a fictional historical figure? Elizabeth Bennett in Pride and Predjudice. Can be prickly and cold on the outside, but soft on the inside. Would cut off her nose to spite her face in order to protect herself.

* What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
Impatience with others. I wish I could be more tolerant.

* What is the trait you most deplore in others?
A lack of self-awareness.

* What vehicles do you own?
My trusty audi (which is a lovely car, but very poorly treated). An under-used bike. My legs.

* What objects do you always carry with you?
I am really bad at this. As long as I have money, I consider myself well-planned. But I often forget even that. Always? My body.

* What do you most dislike about your appearance?
Large bosoms. Very difficult to look good in fashionable clothes (I can look like a slighty deranged farm girl who doesn't get out often). Very distracting to others. Can occasionally be a plus, but generally a minus.

* What is your most unappealing habit?
Telling people when I am in a bad mood. They don't seem to appreciate it. I think forewarned is forearmed, but that does not appear to be the case.

* What is your favourite smell?
Not copying Gypsee, but I think coconut. It reminds me of holidays, relaxation, laughing, good times.

* What is your favourite word?
There are so many - words are just great. I read something by Valus once that I totally agreed with - sometimes there is one unusual or perfect word that describes something. It's perfection relies on it's sound, how it makes your mouth move, the senses/feelings that it awakens. I will quite happily sit and think of that word until it comes to me, rather than substituting with a less evocative word. For my own satisfaction, no other reason.

* What is your favourite book?
Pride and Prejudice without a doubt. For modern trashy, anything from Marian Keyes.

* Should the Royal Family be scrapped?
No, but only because of the history/tourist value.

* Do you believe in monogamy?
I struggle here. When I look at others relationships I generally find it easy to identify why people stray and why we shouldn't be too hard on these people. I can see why, logically, it is a ridiculous concept. However, I would be devastated if someone I had given my heart to (and this would not happen easily) had an 'undeclared' level of intimacy (mental or physical) with another. Don't know how that will ever resolve itself.

* What or who is the greatest love of your life?
I have to say my daughter, as I will never love another in the same way that I love her.
A tw*t.
I'm hoping another is still to come.

* Have you ever said 'I love you' and not meant it?
Never, and never would.

* Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
Super (it irritates even me)
F*ck

* How do you relax?
Easily I think (though my mind never switches off).
Wine.
Watching the sea.

* What single thing would improve the quality of your life?
More energy.

* What keeps you awake at night?
Nothing. Occasionally a strange bed can do it.

* How would you like to die?
Quickly and unexpectedly. However, if I get to see what happens after, I would change this answer.

* Do you believe in life after death?
In terms of another life on earth - I don't think I do believe that. I am open to arguments though.
In terms of the spirit/soul living on - yes.

* How would you like to be remembered?
She was always true to herself.

* What is the most important lesson life has taught you?
You should never stop trying to change the things that you feel aren't right, and if you can't change them, step over them and move on.
This is slightly at odds with my desire to be more tolerant!

There was another one about sex? The answer at the moment is NEVER. Not ideal.

This sometimes goes for me, as well. There are times when I've taken a strong stance against something (for myself), only to find myself wondering when I'll find myself thinking or feeling differently- because it's happened before.

I just found this:

30 Days of Truth

Day 01 → Something you hate about yourself.
Day 02 → Something you love about yourself.
Day 03 → Something you have to forgive yourself for.
Day 04 → Something you have to forgive someone for.
Day 05 → Something you hope to do in your life.
Day 06 → Something you hope you never have to do.
Day 07 → Someone who has made your life worth living for.
Day 08 → Someone who made your life hell, or treated you like **** .
Day 09 → Someone you didn’t want to let go, but just drifted.
Day 10 → Someone you need to let go, or wish you didn’t know.
Day 11 → Something people seem to compliment you the most on.
Day 12 → Something you never get compliments on.
Day 13 → A band or artist that has gotten you through some tough ass days. (write a letter.)
Day 14 → A hero that has let you down. (letter)
Day 15 → Something or someone you couldn’t live without, because you’ve tried living without it.
Day 16 → Someone or something you definitely could live without.
Day 17 → A book you’ve read that changed your views on something.
Day 18 → Your views on gay marriage.
Day 19 → What do you think of religion? Or what do you think of politics?
Day 20 → Your views on drugs and alcohol.
Day 21 → (scenario) Your best friend is in a car accident and you two got into a fight an hour before. What do you do?
