Hello Did something go awry with the boards? I hope everyone is well in these interesting times of ours. I am still struggling to learn as much as I can about astrology, but the perfectionist in me is a drag. In spite of being fully aware that astrology is a complex and ever-changing topic, I want to know the ins and outs just like that... Like I somehow expect myself to be a budding Linda Goodman after reading a few books. Silly, I know (Sun and Mercury in Virgo). Yesterday I looked into astrology courses because I learn anything better in a classroom situation, with demonstrations etc. There's a five day summer school in a beautiful college in Oxford (UK) which sounds brilliant. Pricey, yes, but I am tempted. It's held by the Faculty of Astrological Studies. Of course, being suspicious upon first glance of just about everything, I wonder if it's nothing more than what could be learnt in a book with a hefty price tag. It would be great fun though I am sure. A few months ago I had my chart read and a year's forecast done. It was brilliant, really motivating and confirmed quite a few things. The astrologer gave me the phone number of someone she knows who teaches/holds a group... I am not entirely sure what they do but she said it would be beneficial for me to develop my psychic abilities. I was reluctant to call the number but think I will as I would definitely benefit from meeting some like-minded people right now, if nothing else. To be honest, I didn't know that the insights that I experience were something that could be developed, rather something that were there or not, in varying intensities. Oh, I just registered to change my name by deed poll too. My full married name vibrates to the number 29 so I am going to change it back to my maiden name. I did create a topic in While the Soul Slumbers about it. A part of me feels silly for doing it... but at this point I am willing to try anything Well, I'm not sure that anyone will recognise my username really as I have never been a notable member here but there we are, hello anyway If anyone read this... well, apologies for waffling IP: Logged |

hi, vivid! "what's occurring?" is a favourite catchphrase of my exhusband, caught my eye.if you are in the uk i believe liz greene has a school in london...don't know if it is connected to that F.A.S. you mention, or what the prices are. but my astrology school was really watkins books in covent garden. a treasure trove indeed where books practically jumped into my hands (well one really did!)...got my how-to books on casting charts there and that is where i REALLY learned about the subject, DIY! I have loved the phrase since watching Gavin and Stacey I must confess Liz Greene is involved in the Faculty... that I mentioned, which usually operates in London but are holding their five day summer courses in Oxford. Maybe I just need to kick myself in the backside and persevere with books :/ Would love to learn in a classroom environment though. Do you have a favourite book? I was beginning to think I may not get a reply :P IP: Logged |

not book, but books...i don't know how far along you are, but starting with introductions, alan oken's "complete astrology", especially the earlier historical part! anything by grant lewi, esp "heaven knows what" and "astrology for the millions", jan spiller, stephen arroyo, dane rudhyar and liz greene. linda's "sun signs" and "love signs", and anything that teaches chart erection, even though you can get them online now actually calculating, and DRAWING the charts themselves was what got me going. i started with the charts of those closest to me and went on to include everybody who crossed my path...robert hand's book on the koch houses has a great chart erection process, step by step...i think just hanging and browsing at watkins brought so much information my way, and i'm sure there's even more now... That's quite an image! Very nice. Thanks for the book recommendations, I will check them out. I have been reading Linda's books since quite a young age but am ready to take my interest to the next level There's so many books about that it's hard to know which to go for. I'm currently reading a couple by Stephen Arroyo which are definitely helping Thanks again! IP: Logged | |
