Hi there, I have been reading the posts at LL for a while now, and really enjoyed the variety of subjects covered, particularly the posts from those who know so much about Linda personally. She is an all-time heroine of mine and my favourite astrologer ever. I am captivated by the You Tube videos of her giving interviews and recounting stories or memories; her voice is mesmerizing. My mother introduced to the literary world of Linda Goodman as a very young child, and I still read her old copy of 'Sun Signs' (that edition published 1972) despite the yellowing pages and the fact that it is falling to bits and has been sellotaped back in too many times to count! I think a purchase of a replacement copy is probably due, but my mum died when I was 18, so I'm so rather emotionally attached to this one - I think my purchase may well be an 'additional' copy rather than a replacement! I've drawn up a few natal charts over the years, all of my family and friends. I chose to do them manually, using books and ephemeris', because I felt it would give me greater satisfaction than having it all pop up on my laptop screen in 20 seconds. I wish I could interpret them better though, and this is where I am hoping being a member of Linda-Land will help me. I've read a few books on interpreting charts, and love the guide at http://www.bobmarksastrologer.com - but I have a terrible memory for things I've read so a month or so after reading something, I pretty much have to read it again. (very frustrating!) At school I was the sort of person who preferred coursework, because I understood something really well, and quickly, but then forgot it once that assignment was handed in. When I did exams, I had to cram at the last minute so it was still in my head at exam time! I think my lack of skill with interpreting is largely due to my not remembering what I've learned and then getting confused with details that seem very small but are actually quite significant in a chart. I particularly struggle with houses, and when two or more references are used at the same time, e.g. "Virgo Moon ruler of 12th house" - I can't tell how the 3 parts (sign, planet, house) interact and whether to interpret as 'moon in virgo = x description, plus moon in 12th house = x description' or if there is another description that is applicable to the specific combination of "Virgo Moon ruler of 12th house". Also, I can't always tell the difference in something being a 'ruler' of something versus it being 'in' something. Of course, astrology is very intuitive and not something that can be solely learned from paper. You have to 'feel' the signs and planets, and that isn't easy to teach/learn. I've just bought a new book and I'm going to start working through it this afternoon. Wish me luck! I look forward to chatting more with you soon, and hope you will accept me in to the fold. Kindest regards RachelIP: Logged |

Welcome! You can see how to do that rainbow and other smiles by clicking on "smilies legend" on the left when you make a post.------------------ "All deaths are suicides, do you realize that? Every single one. The only distinction is that, with some people, suicide is a subconscious choice, and with others it's a conscious choice. Otherwise, those who commit suicide and those who succumb to accident, illness or "old age," die for exactly the same reason: belief in the inevitability of death." Linda Goodman IP: Logged |

I know exactly what you mean, I have the same trouble with charts, and also with learning/retaining things to memory. What helped me lots and lots was using this card set I have, called Karma Cards. They are meant to be an oracle of sorts, but when you ask a question, you turn over three cards. The first is the planet, the second is the sign and the third is the house. For some reason doing these readings over and over, with various results, made me understand astrology alot better. Let me see if I can find you a link to the card set... http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/karma-cards/ well, anyway, welcome and happy learning! IP: Logged |

Thanks Randall; expect lots of rainbows and smilies from me in the future, they're so great! Thanks for the link GypseeWind - they look really cool, I could certainly use them to help me visualise what is what, I will remember soooo much better that way. I've ordered some from Amazon, should arrive in a few days. Great tip, thanks! Look forward to chatting more.. Rachel x ------------------ "Vision without Action is a daydream...
