I can't find your e mail. See if you can post your chart in the Beginners Forum. That would be so much easier for me

I had no idea that this thread even existed. And I don't think I've come here before.

Honestly, I am criticized so much in this forum that I don't have much interest in sharing with a general public (not you, Ami) that neither likes me nor wants me around. My core values and outlook are diammetrically opposed to those espoused here, and I've been told often that I'm full of the brown stuff because people can't handle me.

No offense. I want to see people besides you, Ami, who actually request to know more about me and how I got to who I am.

YTA, who doesn't want you around?!?! i actually think more people would like you around than the opposite.

Even think our thoughts are a bit a like on 'where the money goes' and etc....

but don't forget most people here are younger, and didn't get far ahead in life like you did.

but why do you think people don't want you around?

It's not a matter of money... and I honestly don't have that much. I've been trying to impart advice on attaining success, not that I'm the foremost expert. It's just that I've been around teh block and I think I know where the potholes in the road are. I can't make people listen if they don't want to.

It isn't just about education or career. It's about everything else. Marriage, raising children, etc. Majority of folks don't agree with me and don't appreciate what I have to say.

You don't need someone to tell you in your face that they don't like you. It is evident by the way people behave. I can catch a hint and move on.

It's not just the young ones. It's also those older than I am, and a lot of them are moderators.

it's okay to disagree...there are like a few billion of us humans on Earth, and we should expect everyone has an opinion of their own.

I think everyone expresses themselves in the way they are raised, what is normal for one person in self-expression, may leave another with their mouth agape. But once a person sees that, then it is all normal.

by about the money, i meant for example we both think it is extremely silly to pay for a bag, what could possibly pay off some peoples mortgages...

though i do have a banking question that also edges a bit on law....if a bank and you signed an agreement where you get an extremely good interest rate back, and it's in an agreement signed by both ends...then the central bank of said country lowers interest...so the bank tries to weasel it's way out of it, by telling you basically 'accept this much lower interest or take your money'....you've only got months left on the contract in any case...do you just keep the money there, as a contract is a contract whether they like it or not....

or just go look for a proper investment that can get you back the same interest in the same time period?....or choice 3 go to a competing bank, that could possibly give you just slightly a higher interest than that set by the central bank of the country?

banks get away with everything, but also the other side shouldn't be stupid either...so what is the most 'sane' thing to do in your opinion?

I'm going to answer this question from a consumer's standpoint and not from the standpoint of a corporation/organiztion. Keep in mind that I am not a consumer banker.

I'm not sure where you call home but I am going to answer from the standpoint of an American or a Brit.

I am also going to assume that the said "contract" is about savings and investment, and not about a loan. Essentially, higher interest rates are beneficial to the saver and detrimental to the borrower.

When you enter into a fixed rate agreement, as in a Certificate of Deposit, you are contractually locked into a pre-determined interest rate. Regardless of market fluctuations and other contemporaneous factor, whether exogenous or endogenous, the bank is legally obligated to pay the interest rate at which it contractually established with yourself. Note longer term CDs pay a higher rate because you take additional liquidity risk and interest rate risk.

If the bank says: here's your money.. take it and leave... Then you go across the street to Joe Lawyer a polite letter kindly reminding the bank that it entered into a legally binding contractual obligation. At the same time, you call up Tom Regulator at the Central Bank to advise them that a certain bank, which has been issued a banking license by the government, is using unfair tactics to strong arm consumers into accepting a lower interest rate than what the signed document stipulates.

It depends on the return differential and how much is at stake. A 1% interest differential on $1,000 investment non-compounded for a three-month time window, is only $25. Would you want to raise a ruckus and bother bringing your money to another bank, fill out all that paperwork nonsense? Most of the time, it's not worth the effort. Of course, if you are talking about $10 million, the story is different.

Yes, consumer banks fleece consumers. That much is known and true. I hate being fleeced myself. I'm a corporate banker and I deal more on a relationship banking level. We make money by making friends. So, the natural thing is not to tick off friends. Business is very different.

WOW, so much to learn from you. I think our like my dad's soulmate or something as what you said is what he kind of told me when i told him whatever lets go find another bank...(his reply was more like an angry but trying not to show it "ugh after my long lifetime... i'm not stupid!no one messes with me this way, there is a contract so it's not up to them"

yes it is more in the 'story is different' numbers, so the interest is great but we also don't want to deal with lawyers, as any money made, they'll find a way to take it...except half of the people we know are lawyers so no comment...

The system is a US system the one used, so will take your word for it...okay brilliant and nice to see people who appreciate sticking for what they've got...my next posts turn then will be 'fun' questions but in a different post...
