does anyone have any information on varuna? the reason i ask is because i had never ever thought about it before the other day when suddenly it appeared in a chart i was setting up! i did NOT select 20000 (it's number) in the asteroid/planetoid list.

serendipitous things like these always strike me as CLUES. so i would be very grateful if anyone has any insight into its meaning. i do know that varuna was an early and very powerful hindu deity who transmuted into a somewhat lesser one with time and religious changes...

That is a link I have found on Varuna (and others).
Interestingly Varuna is exactly on my DSC and my Draco Moon. And as a child I drowned and nearly died.
The brother of my mum really died through drowning.
Varuna opposes her Sun, which rules her 3rd house of brothers and sisters!

My Mum never learned swimming and in the light of Varuna opposing Mars, ruler of my 4th house, I think I am quite glad that she stays away from water.

But I hope Varuna also has more positive effects than signifying catastrophes caused by water.

EDIT:
Intersting, our family seems to share a Varuna-theme.

My Varuna conjuncts DSC opposes IC-ruler and ocnjuncts Draco Moon

Mum:
her Varuna opposes her Sun

Dad:
his Varuna conjuncts his Moon

my brother:
no really tight challenging aspects (but he was the only one of us children, who didn`t drown at one point in his life; luckily us others have been saved)

my youngest brother:
his Varuna squares his Sun

The orbs are all under 1°.

thank you DD...interestingly enough i "discovered" varuna on the same day i had a flood in my apt!! which has resulted in a much nicer, drier space - after displacing me for a week and costing the homeowner way more than she wanted to shell out at christmas time!

back to the drawing board with this one for me..!

p.s. now it WON'T appear when i TRY!!

My Varuna conjuncts my Venus at a tight 1 degree orb. Don't really know what this means, My Chiron also conjuncts my Venus as well...

quote:
The energy of Varuna is that which is too large to comprehend. In this respect, it has some attributes of the 12th house -- the house of overwhelming or incomprehensible aspects of life that act out of sight or in the deep background.

I read this and thought PISCES! I know I have some karmic associations with Pisces they are always some of my best friends (Pisces is the cusp of my third house, and the 3rd house ruler of my 7th is Gemini, so maybe Pisces boys are so me)?

quote:
Varuna (now in Cancer) also deals with the punishment of liars and those who violate contracts. In earlier times, mortals who did not keep their word would meet his wrath.

Does this mean Varuna has my back as far as love goes, and spreads his wrath onto others who oppose it!
