oh, okay, i think i figured it outyou look at where the sun is in the progressed chart, and move every other planet forward as many degrees as the sun is from its natal position. hmmm.... IP: Logged |

it's a-degree-for-a-year progression, say, you have Venus at 15 virgo and you are 32 now so your progressed Venus is at 17 Libra nowIP: Logged |

HSC, it's there in the drop-down menu at astro.com under Methods - it reads 'progressions, natal, and solar arc combined' . IP: Logged |

Hi Heart Shaped Cross,If you go to astro.com and go into their extended chart selection. When you reach that page, go to the pull down menu under the "Methods" heading. When you click on the arrow and it pulls down, just press the letter "N" 6 times and it will bring you to: "Natal, progressions and Solar Arc combined*" Choose that one then click on "Click here to create chart". It will bring up the chart with natal placements, current transits are in red, progressions in green and the Solar Arc planets in blue. I've been using it for years and almost prefer to my Matrix Winstar Software. IP: Logged |

unfortunately I dont have any good links to recommend actually it is a very easy method, I recommend you do all the calculations by hand and then write them down and compare to you natal placements; I dont like that astro.com does solar arcs together with progressions and transits, it's impossible to make out anything there anyway, when you have the solar arc planets calculated you can see what aspects a given planet makes to your natal placement, I use 1 degree orb because 1 degree equals to 1 year and then you read these aspects as usual transits examples:
solar arc Sun sextile natal Venus, solar arc Venus conj SN = I madly fell in love and it felt like a connection from my past life solar arc IC conj natal Jupiter (in the 4th) = the native bought his own apartment solar arc Merc sextile natal Jupiter and solar arc Jupiter conj natal Merc = I got promoted to the position of a corporate trainer, (Merc rules my natal 6HR and Jupiter rules education, delivering trainings, lectures etc) solar arc MC moved on natal Neptune = I went to school again to study psychology A friend of mine used to have lots passionate but short-lived love affairs but when solar arc 5H cusp moved into Cap he realized he wants a long-term commited relationship solar arc Uranus trine natal Venus and solar arc Venus opposite natal Uranus = a very intense and passionate affair that ended as unexpectedly as it started solar arc ASC conj natal Venus = a friend of mine settled down and got engaged, he is planning to get married this year solar arc Venus conj mean BML = an intense and obsessive relationship solar arc IC/MC square Saturn = my friend's mom died so mainly you have to look at major aspects solar arc planets make to natal planets and angles for solar arc angles we consider all aspects in which the number of degrees can be divided by 30 it is also very important when house cusps or angles change signs: we suddenly change our attitute towards matters ruled by the house according to the sign charactristics e.g. the native may decide they want to settle down and start a family when, say, their 5 or 7 H cusp moves into Cancer
or solar arc 3H cusp moved on natal 9H cusp = the year when graduated and got a degree (* edited: oops I think that was my solar return 9H cusp on my 3rd natal, not solar arc) the same, but less prominent, I'd say, when planets change signs when doing solar arcs it is easy to rectify your natal chart looking at aspects to and from the angles for significant events IP: Logged |

www.astrowin.org why don't you guys use google? there's a dozen free programs out there and all of them calculate SA. maybe conjunctions are easy to eyeball. but what about semisquares, squares, sesquisquares and oppositions? what about midpoints? you wanna calculate those by hand, too? you can learn all about SA by reading the free essays on www.noeltyl.com - counselling insights, notes and the third one I can't remember its name.
