I have Neptune sexile my Mercury and I am not a liar. I think it gives imagination. I write and find myself interested in spiritual subjects as well. I think this is part of the influence.

But I also wonder if the aspect, especially when it's tense, can give a bit more than imagination. A bending of truth maybe? Or a certain omission of it?
Do you have this aspect?
Do you know anyone who does?
How does Mercury/Neptune work in your chart?

I'm not out to offend, just to learn more

Lying pathologically probably only becomes a problem to those with Mercury in hard aspect to Neptune, so Mercury sextile Neptune is a lovely aspect.

However, everybody lies, no matter what kind of influences they may have. A Libran influenced person may lie to keep the peace. A Leonine could lie to boost their own ego. We also shouldn't forget that Neptunians may 'lie' because they actually believe what they say to be true or they just don't want to see others hurt.

I have Mercury Quintile Neptune and I'm not sure what this does for me besides provide a very vivid imagination. I've heard though that this placement involves a certain, special talent between the two.

I have the opposition and yeah, I've lied before (I'd be lying if I've said I've *never* told a lie ) but not pathologically. Maybe it was to save my own ass from my parents when I was jung and did something wrong ROFL, or perhaps it was to save someone's feelings...but never prolificly. LOL

They do say it makes one mentally unfocused though, with escapist tendencies. One who's a heavy daydreamer. That I can heavily identify with, especially having pisces on my 3rd house cusp.

I agree - I think everyone lies. Even little white lies so as not to hurt someone's feelings or to cover something we shouldn't have done.

I don't have any Neptune/Merc aspects.

I really don't mean to offend or make any weird implications here. I'm just curious. I realize we are all somewhat 'guilty' of lies from time to time.

Dulce, I found your post about being at times mentally unfocused interesting. The daydreamer stuff...I can see what you mean about that coming about with the aspect. Like being pre-occupied, in a way. I have moon in the 12th, and like to daydream

I have this aspect in conjunct and I am a heavy daydreamer But I'm not really a liar.. Maybe because the conjunction is located in Sag which gives honesty? But I have a tendency for understanding things in more than one way, maybe multiple ways. I guess this is a common thing, though, so I don't know if that is a neptunish thing But my imagination runs away with me sometimes. And I have a thing for writing.

I know someone with this. He's a photographer. Something about the way he speaks is very hypnotizing. He's also very good at jokes, but in a psychotic way? Haha. Nah, he's not crazy, just a little kooky to me.
He seems to know what people are thinking.

Heeey I've got Neptune sextile my Mercury in Scorp & my Moon in Pisces!

I am pretty quirky and I talk about the most random ideas. I'm also really spiritual.. But I do talk about things people don't like to bring up.. maybe thats just the scorp. I used to write really twisted sexual stories about people I knew when I was in 8th grade. hahahahaha.

Sometimes I can say things in a certain way that it is bound to be misunderstandings. It's like a think for myself: "well, I didn't lie, and if they ask me about it, I can say I meant it the other way" Lol! But I never do this to be mean or to hurt or anything, and it doesn't happen so often. White lies, I guess..
Oh no.. Now I just sound like a really bad person, or something..!

Thanks all, for demystifying this mystifying aspect for me a bit

It looks like whichever signs Neptune and Mercury are in make a big difference...good to keep in mind.

Hi MVM

Poet and novelist George Mackay Brown has the Square.

I wouldn't jump up and think 'liar' if I saw this on the chart. Used positively I would think creative use of words and concepts. It is possible to use tense aspects positively, dynamically.

actually, what you do with it is more of in question here that what you have.
as in - I CAN lie, but I choose not to/ I don't.

Mercury-Neptune could give one the skills/talent to make a fascinating presentation of fact - but will they use that to
a.make others laugh
b. entertain others
c. trick others
d.day-dream.
etc
none of these is a matter of Neptune-Mercury, but rather sign-house placements and other aspects to them. (ie. any aspect from Saturn will guarantee a just use of this skill)
