What would I look at in a chart of a friend running for city office?I'm not sure which planets/signs/houses might rule such things. I'm not interested in trying to predict the outcome, but it might be good to know how this person might be affected by the process. IP: Logged |

Libra rules law. It also rules Capricorn's solar 10th house, which is why Capricorn's are so into politics. Aquarian energy also seems quite drawn to politics.House-wise, I'd look at the 10th and 7th. Possibly the 11th if you have an idealist. IP: Logged |

Hi LeapingLemur! He has Mars in Libra, and opposes his Aries Moon. His 10th house is occupied by his Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Pluto. To me this would indicate that he may be cut out for this sort of thing--natally, anyway. What should I look for in terms of transits or progressions? IP: Logged |

WOOOOOW!!! Your friend might do REALLY well. His chart is very strong for a politician, his chart is even more presidential than Obama's as well. You look to the 9th House for lawyers, judges, politicians. With Saturn residing there, it's an authority figure (many presidents have this). With the Sun ruling the 9th House and residing in the 10th, it suggests that 9th House subjects could be part of his career, but it's the Pluto in the 10th (Pluto and Saturn=Power). Pluto in his 10th House is also great to have. I'm wondering if he is already a teacher or professor or something of that nature, a librarian, and organizer. But his chart looks very good for being a successful politician. If he doesn't win this time, he'll probably run again. It's probably a good idea that he does run again. Thanks GCV! I'm not great at interpreting, but I'm working on learning and I thought he might have some good natal indications of this aspiration. So your good news for him is also good news for me and my education!Should Neptune in the first be any concern... especially while campaigning? IP: Logged |

i think that just makes him idealistic, wanting to project his dreams onto the world (as long as they're good, why not?)IP: Logged |

The MC is exactly square Neptune. I'm not sure how that would or does play out.IP: Logged |

No problem. I've observed over the last election that both Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama experienced transiting Neptune crossing the ASC. I think what it does is makes it easier for other people to enter your life, even if you don't want them to. I learned it as a signature for co-dependence, but that's NOT the only interpretation. It makes your boundaries porous, which is necessary for politicians.Imagine Hillary and Barak had to allow hundreds of extra people into their lives to help them with the campaign. They might not have wanted to that, but it's necessary. But with natal Neptune in the first, I don't see how it should cause any problem. It may be helpful for him to present whatever image he wants. He's got that tight Fire Grand Trine of Neptune, Saturn, Moon. This suggests motivational self-sufficiency, that's a good thing, but when he begins to really think that he can do everything by himself, that Neptune might help him to allow others into his process. The Moon-Saturn trine suggests great amition. The Saturn-Neptune trine can be a kind of charisma. His ambition may have fallen asleep at certain points in his life, but it comes back. He may be photogenic or have many photos taken of him. He also has a strong need to be NUMBER ONE which is suggested by the Moon in Aries. It looks like he's got the juice to get the job done. I wish him good luck. Now it's off to bed for me. Good night. IP: Logged |

Hi Acoustic God,Remember that JFK had Neptune conjunct his MC. It was Saturn-Neptune conjunction that was conjunct the MC. It was also suggestive of his terrible back problems. Neptune is infection, weakness. Saturn is the skeletal structure. Sometimes the MC/IC Axis represents the spine. The Saturn-Neptune conjunction also suggested the earlier family business of his father being a Hollywood Producer, photography, the Kennedy's had some kind of special connection to photography and film. Neptune is the chemical, the vision, Saturn solidifies the chemicals, freezes the vision. A lot of politicians do have strong Neptune signatures. If they use it positively it can be for compassion and vision, if used negatively is suggests lies, deceit and scandal. OK, now I'm really getting into the bed. I promise. But I need the night light on. IP: Logged |

Nope, LeapingLemur... looks like you were right on track.Geocosmic Valentine, you've been very helpful! Thanks for your time and analysis! AG... I looked over those links. Thanks for posting those. He is a very driven, personable guy. He previously worked on local television and really loved it. He does have a liking for the spotlight, but he likes to use it to do good things. He has a lot of good ideas and a genuine concern for the welfare of the city. He's quite easygoing, which worries me somewhat, but he rarely fails to deliver. It's an interesting combination, especially when you consider that he's a Virgo! IP: Logged |
