When we look at moons in synastry, does the Cancerian moon have a decent understanding of all the moon signs because of rulership?

I was working on a friend's synastry with her ex-boyfriend. She's a Gemini moon and he's the Cancer moon. There's a possibility they may get back together, but they both need to make changes. I was trying to figure out how they mesh emotionally.

Otherwise, she's a Scorpio and he has almost all his planets in Cancer in Scorpio, so lots of water going on with those two!

Cancer Moons are very emotionally intuitive, but I think that, like any moon sign, they have difficulties finding compatibility with certain other moons/suns. They are most emotionally compatible with people whose moons are trined, conjunct, or sextile with their suns.

So would you say that Cancer moon can empathize with other moons, but it may be difficult for them to find someone who understands their own emotions? (Excepting the examples of the trine/sextile moon/moon relationships.)

I think with any water sign moon or influence in the chart - they can read and possibly better relate to another person. An unspoken understanding....

As a person with strong water including watersign moon (Sun,Mercury,Venus in Scorpio and Moon in Pisces),I am having doubts about moonsigns in regards to things like understanding feelings of others.

I know a lady that has Moon in Pisces, but her son also has the same moonsign, and he's autistic.

as you know, autistics have problems with understanding emotional/social cues

also my exgf's mother has Sun in Pisces and Moon in Cancer. My exgf told me that her mom has a basic dislike of men based on her own past experiences with the my exgf's father. Somebody who thinks that all men are bad don't seem very understanding emotionally. There is too much subjectivity that interferes with objectivity to understand a person's feelings.

religious bigots, racists, sexists, homophobics, xenophobics, can have moon in watersigns. watersigns don't make anybody immune to being a bigot.

I think that there are other factors when it comes to understanding the emotions of others. also hard aspects to the Moon also don't necessarily indicate problems with understanding feelings either.

In my experience, Cancer moons are not any more understanding of other moon signs compared to others. They're very emotional, moody, clingy and nurturing. However, when they're in one of their "moods" they place greater importance on their own feelings than on others. The cancer moon I knew before would always say "My life is sooo much harder than everyone else's. My pain is so much worse!" This is what I've observed in cancer moons. I'm not saying all of them are like this.

She was completely incapable of reading people or having empathy. Strong water influence doesn't necessarily make one more empathetic or intuitive. It makes one more emotional.

I don't think it gives them more emotional empathy. It just means that the qualities of the PLANET itself are most easily expressed in that sign (and Taurus, its exaltation).

I don't think anything in the chart makes a person anything. I think the chart is in synchronicity with who and what we are. It doesn't make us who and what we are.

I agree with the person that said about the moon in watersign can indicate a person being a highly emotional

empathy can just mean vicariously experiencing the feelings of others
it could just be an emotional sponge, absorbing stuff in the environment

That doesn't necessarily mean that they will understand the feelings of others nor even themselves.

another thing, an empathic person isn't necessarily a nice person. Some empathic people can use their understanding of the feelings of others to manipulate others.

empathy is not the same as compassion.

also we're talking about moons in tropical zodiac sign. It's not the same as the ecliptic constellations.

a person with Moon in tropical Cancer could have Moon in the constellation of Gemini. Moon in the late degrees of tropical Cancer will have the Moon in the constellation of Cancer

I think that tropical moonsign can be different if they are located in different constellations.

If the Moon is in projected ecliptic longitude conjunction with a star in a certain constellation, then the influence of the actual constellation is even stronger.

This is exactly the case. Especially with many water Mooners.

Moon in Cancer can be either nurturing or downright manipulative. Intensely emotional (barring being afflicted with autism) and intuitive, extremely sensitive- for good or bad. When lunar Cancerians begin to feel the need to manipulate you, they stop being sensitive to your needs. They become super insensitive- deliberately.

That's not to discredit those more positive Cancer Mooners out there...

The opposite of love is indeed hate, not indifference, for indifference is a form of detachment, and both love and hate are two forms of attachment, and detachment is naturally the opposite of both the two forms of attachment. There are many theories of the relationships between love and hate, but ultimately, hate is death force, which creates untimely or chronic destruction; whereas love is life force, which brings life.

Cancer Mooners need to feel, to be needed.

When you can stand on your own and no longer need your lunar Cancerian, that's when many of her/his issues come to light.

Moon in Cancer natives can stand by you, loyaly defend you, take very good care of you...

But the less evolved types of Cancer Mooners can then turn into your worst enemies.

Note I said "the less evolved types". I do not discredit all natives with Moon in Cancer.

It depends on the Sun Sign.

I don't need to feel NEEDED. But I do need to feel WANTED, adored, cherished. It's my Leo Sun. The need to nurture gets projected outward, so I like having people take care of me.
