Can you have your Moon in Capricorn and his Mars in Capricorn, and still not have any Synastry aspects together involving these planets? IP: Logged |

There's 30 degrees in each sign. A synastry conjunction really needs to be within 4 degrees, and I'm sure some Lindalanders would argue with me on that point for being generous in orb. Plenty of space for non-conjunction. However, being in the same sign still gives off some compatibility of energy. IP: Logged |

blue moon, thank-you for explaining that there are 30 degrees in each sign. I did not know that basic astrology tidbit. My Cap. Moon - 4 degrees His Cap. Mars - 22 degrees This must mean there is too wide an orb. distance between us to have that conjunction. True?IP: Logged |

IMO an 8 degree conjunction can still work, provided it's in the same sign.Just because there are no aspects though, that doesn't mean there won't be some sort of natural affinity between those two. IP: Logged |

^^^I agree, just having someone's mars in the same sign as your moon can create enough buzz.IP: Logged |

Thank-you 3X! We definitely have a buzz ( like that word), that is why I was questioning the nonexistent conj.IP: Logged |

Generally, in synastry we need to halve whatever orb we would allow on a natal chart. There is some disagreement on how wide this would be, personally I would say 8 degrees for a conjunction on a natal, 4 on a synastry. But others on LL would say narrower is required. As long as we are consistent. I would not allow 8 degrees for a synastry conjunction nor 16 degrees for a natal. I'd say that was too wide. There's some elastic in astrology, but there is a danger in stretch so far we are trying to force things to fit where they don't. It is the astrological equivalent of trying to squeeze yourself into underwear 2 sizes too small. You might want to think your butt is that tiny, but sorry, it isn't. If you know the basics, you will know the chances of you sharing the same Moon/Mars combination with someone you bump into in the street is not that improbable. Conjunction? Far less likely. Yeah, the sarcasm got on my nerves on this one. 30 degrees is 30 degrees. At one end you have a conjunction, at another you have a semi-sextile. Then you have a whole load of space in between. If it isn't the answer people want to hear, tough, it's the answer you will be getting.

BM,I ABSOLUTELY agree with you on this one. I used to use far more generous orbs, but they didn`t work, except for creating a vague feeling of similiarity (in case of the conjunction). But having the planets in the same signs does neither bring a couple together nor does it make their relationship last. For me some kind of "epiphany" struck me, when I realized that the aspects originally actually are derived from the astronomical connection between Sun and Moon, especially full- and newmoon - opposition and conjunction. If you transfer the time a fullmoon is considered a "real" fullmoon into degrees of orb, you actually get an orb of about 3° to each side. It`s NEVER more than 3°; that is the reason I use this orb, at least in synastry, and even in natal I tend to take those aspects, which are within 3° as VERY serious, while the others may still be valid, but not as strongly felt.

Thank you. Sometimes the basics get forgotten, or worse, leaped over on the way to conclusions that were formed before picking up a chart. IP: Logged |

blue moon ~ Were you upset at my posts? I would like to understand astrology in a little more depth. I'm a new learner. I remember going to the bookstore with my mom as a pre-teen and reading books with her. I appreciate your answers. Hopefully I am comprehending all the info. correctly. IP: Logged |

Online it can be hard to work out if someone is being sarcastic but it seemed a genuine enough question. It doesn't help you any that astrologers will disagree about what makes an acceptable degree for a Conjunction. But few will disagree that is far too wide for a synastry conjunction.

Yes I believe there's energy between the 2 based on the respective planets being in the same sign, but of course there's more to be said for them being in orb. Anyway, have you heard about plactile aspects?? Two planets being in the same degree (of any sign)? There are delineations for synastry plactiles here:http://www.cosmitec-astrological-compatibility-advice.com/compatibility-love-horos copes.html IP: Logged |
