Are these the weaker version of trines? I heard they are more energetic than trines, but the bond is not as strong.Anyone know more about these? IP: Logged |

Well, I couldn't validate for you, but that would be nice. Having them be more energetic. It would make every intricate detail important to have, and your not likely to receive them all at once so there's always something to read. It may be just something astrologers say since they don't write small aspects in books so if there valuable you'd go to them. Cynical me.------------------

I heard trines were lazier...?? i heard that the power is there with the trines, but it's not activated automatically because it's just very easy.
I also read that sextiles are more active in their harmony, if that makes any sense.I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time  IP: Logged |

i dont think so. i believe i feel sextiles almost as much as squares and conjunctions. i dont really feel trines and oppositions that much.
that doesn't mean that trines & opps dont have an affect on me..it simply means i pick up on the other aspects more..notice the energy.

I have someone's Pluto exactly opposite my Venus and I bloody well feel it  Maybe this too depends on orb and the energies present in your own chart? I think a tightly orbed sextile would pack a punch, maybe even more so than the lazy trine, since the trine energy flows *too* harmoniously, and thus may be completely unnoticeable, ala conscious versus unconscious thought.

redstar - yes i definitely think it depends on what you're "used to" - based on your natal chart. i know that others will feel certain aspects more or less than i do.IP: Logged |

I am fascinated by you not feeling oppositions-*hence the cheeky reply above*-I can understand not feeling trines, but my novice brain hurts with concentration trying to wrap my head around this  This is totally my own ignorance of the subject being expressed here, and does not in any way invalidate your experience, on the contrary, I want to learn more. Do you natally have no oppositions, or too many? Do you feel oppositions in transit? P.S I have the same ASC and Moon as you, but Pisces sun - I think you have the better hand with that Cap to keep it all in check! IP: Logged |

I might as well have a Pisces sun..the water and fire take over earth at all costs  I only have 3 oppositions in my natal..all from Chiron. Not sure how this might tie into it... I have always found people with whom I have oppositions comforting and easy to get along with. I have had MANY friends with Cancer sun, ASC, and Venus (opp. my sun) and many who have Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, or Mars in Taurus(opp. my ASC, Venus, Pluto). One thing though..I do not get along with Gemini suns very well at all..they oppose my Moon.. Which is the only *personal* planet I have an opposition to in my natal. Hmm.. IP: Logged |

Haha I am totally a Fire and Water abomination- poor Earth neevr even had a chance.Thats a pretty active Chiron you have there, taking on 3 oppositions at once! quote:

Maybe theres something in that observation about your moon, since I am the opposite, I attract and get along far too well with Gems,
even when they oppose my moon and square my sun (though there can be some hairy moments there). What is your most dominant aspect type? Is it an easy or a hard one? Maybe that ties into it too? I have no oppositions between planets in my chart, but feel them strongly in synastry. IP: Logged |

Trines are my most dominant (i have 11), while conjunctions & squares are in close 2nd place (i have 9 each)

I feel oppositions very intensely that it's throws off my equilibrium when there are too many. My ex and I had so many, the atmosphere was always so charged, that I couldn't relax. IT almost gave me an ulcer. I get so bored with trines though, and with the squares there are so many quarrels, bickering all the time. It's this feeling of being annoyed 24/7.But sextiles are a different animal. The feeling "changes', it's energetic, yet sometimes feels comfortable, but then it's energetic again. It feels complementary. augentier, you said you can feel sextiles as much as squares and conjunctions, what does the sextile feel like to you? i always felt sextiles to be weaker, but i think that is because i did not pay them enough mind (thinking them to be weaker). my boyfriend's moon sextiles my sun and it is a very obvious, envigorating feeling. IP: Logged |

Sextiles are opportunities not givens. Trines are more givens but as mentioned, they're very "lazy" and often don't lead to much. So as a result, sextiles can be very productive and rewarding provided you work them. IP: Logged |

I feel sextiles as more of an energy buzz..they always seem to be the aspects I like most in synastry. They are exciting, intriguing, and I believe are only really noticed in their best light when the people involved really know and like each other. It's like the potential is there with a sextile, and if you both get together then that potential just became reality. The intensity, to me, then becomes very powerful and doesn't "settle down" or become comfy like the trine. I think a sextile STAYS exciting. I also think sextiles need a smaller orb..up to 5 degrees maybe?With someone I love I have LOTS of sextiles and they are all the ones that would describe what I love best about us(even though we also have lots of challenging aspects).
The few sextiles I have in my natal (Sun-Pluto, Sun-Eros, Sun-ASC, Neptune-Pluto, NN-Chiron, MC-Chiron) seem to describe the potential I have yet to put forward, but I feel them deep down.

I feel trines AND sextiles VERY strongly. Especially when its a Libra or Aqua Sun, Moon, or Merc trining my Gem-Merc conjunction. I also feel the Leo sextiles strongly to my Sun-Merc as well.------------------

Gemini Sun 24˚
Libra Moon 14˚(conjunct Pluto 0˚ in 2nd house)
Gemini Mercury 25˚

No, they are different than trines, which are facilitators. They are opportunities. In synastry, they are open doors of possibilities between partners. It's something they are aware of. These are certainly not weaklings.IP: Logged |
