From relationshipastro.blogspot.com:

quote:
You Complete Me: Grand Trines in Synastry

In our experience, one of the most powerful indicators of special relationships occurs when a simple trine in one person's natal chart is effectively turned into a Grand Trine by another person's planet(s), particularly when it involves personal planets. For example, in one person's chart, Mars is in the early degrees of Sagittarius and trines the Moon in the early degrees of Aries. A planet in the early degrees of Leo would form a Grand Trine in this native's chart, but doesn't exist. Her partner's Sun fills this pattern, as it is in the early degrees of Leo. This powerful connection is especially potent when it is reciprocated. A special bond exists between the natives."

Does anyone have experience with this? I have this with the guy things are NOT working out with right now--my Cancer Moon-Saturn conjunction is trine my Pisces Jupiter, and those planets are trine his Scorpio Sun-Mercury-Saturn stellium. But we both have feelings.

Does this count with asteroids, nodes, or angles too?

we have this. his venus libra trines his gemini chiron and my sun/merc/mars stellium. it feels pretty great. i'd say he expands my point of view easily and brings a sense of affection and warmth to my thinking patterns (if that makes any sense), and i think i help him gain a bit of additional objectivity, in general. overall it feels like a strong, easy, mental connection. i'm not entirely sure how chiron plays into it, but there is definitely a healing component, as far as learning courage in communication, for both of us.

how close are your orbs with him?

I have a grand trine with my mother

My Sun is in 5'20 Scorpio trine Moon in 3'11 Pisces, and my mom's Jupiter in 4'29 Cancer forms a grand trine with it. It also opposes my Sun/Moon midpoint in 4'15 Capricorn.
Actually my Sun trine Moon forms a kite with her Mars in 5'48 Capricorn sextile Saturn.

The kite isn't really all that great. There is a history of love and hate relationship, not getting along, and she was both verbally and physically abusive to me. She and I get along now, and she knows that she can count on me for financial help which I readily give.

Her Saturn in 3'04 Scorpio conjunct my Sun and trine my Moon. I felt it is a highly controlling influence, but some stability too.

I had a water grandtrine with my ex: his sun, his moon, and my sun. Not sure about the 'you complete me' factor (though it may have felt that way at the time since it was in water) but it did volumes for telepathy and emotional connection. It made things kind of 'easy' sometimes, I felt alot of support.

Around 2 degrees in this Grand Trine.

We actually also have Mercury trine Jupiter as a double whammy, but the orb for his Jupiter trine my Sun-Merc conjunction is much tighter than the orb for my Jupiter trine his Merc (and although he has Sun-Merc conjunct, my Jupiter only trines his Merc.) We have a double-whammy Sun-Merc square at a wide (5 degree) orb and a tight (1 degree) Mercury-Mercury square, which is very evident, I guess more evident than the Grand Trine.

hmm, i wonder if grand trines might also be "lazy" then. our orbs are tight too (under 2 deg). maybe cuz it's my sun, i notice it more.

do you feel jupiter more? in our synastry, his jupiter conjuncts my aqua stellium, but it's a bit too wide to be a grand trine for him natally. maybe that's another reason i feel it strongly.

Well, it sometimes felt like a Jupiter-influenced relationship...but we have lots of Jupiter contacts too, including my NN conjunct his Jupiter.

I definitely feel drawn in/attached to him, and vice-versa. Too bad things are too hard.

Glaucus, any elaboration on the kite not being all that great?

If you're still around 13 years later.
