i've read here and there about the aquarian ego being something of a "thing". as an aquarius, i agree with this, to an extent, in theory, but then again, as an aquarius, pretty much everything is theory. sometimes i get a sense of it; about how we are just as egotistical, if not more, than leos, but usually it feels sorta off (because we are naturally so detached and in our heads and usually WANT to be). then tonight i made a discovery. i was hanging out with three friends and realized, my ego is the GROUP. i feel energized and animated when the group itself is energized. and my purpose, if i may call it that, is TO energize it. now on some level that involves having (and giving) attention, ultimately. right?

okay this is the closest i've come to understanding the aquarian ego paradox. but it was like a flash of insight that i'd like to explore more if anyone has info, ideas, theories, etc..

I know exactly what you mean and I cannot for the life of me see why many people can't grab this (to me) screamingly obvious concept.
I always energise the group because then it becomes the most powerful thing, like a giant achieving unit working as one.
perhaps Aquas are the ants of the astological kingdom!!
But it is a conundrum as to how we are so individualistic and yet can drop the ego when it comes to the benefit of a group.
And I always feel the need to share the rewards equally even if do most of the work

Not in a sanctimonious way. It just makes sense! Then everyone feels a part of it.

I strongly disagree,

From my own personal experience, they dont even have an ego to begin with.

Both due to their fixity might be stubborn but the platitude of egocentricity is different between Aquarius and Leo.

Its not good to compare yourselves with Leo though since y'all are not octaves of your opposite in a manner similar with Geminis and Sagittarians. But the Water Bearer of Intuition for the masses sentiment should suit Aquarians nicely even though Aquas may be detached lone souls who nevertheless have many many friends. But these sudden Uranian lightning bolts of intuition probably come into being when you are among other people.

The only thing I've noticed about Aquas and egos if you get a bunch of Aquas together. I always tend to clash with other Aqua Suns. It's like, THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE.

I know 3 Aqua Sun people have an ego the size of Europe. They're a more "freaky, detached Leo". Scorpio Moon, all 3 of them.
Everyone has an ego, it's how one expresses it though.

I cannot say how your group dynamic works. However, you seem to be confusing the general concept of 'ego' (meaning, a problem with believing you are magnificent) and group dynamics. It's great that you feel you energize your friends.

In my experience...this was opposite. They were self-absorbed and panicked when anyone stood against them in any subject. Often drama-queens. Truly believed they were more talented, more vibrant, more fabulous and amazing than any other, even their friends. Sorry, my experience with them. You may not be that way. I don't know you.

LibraLove, we are secretive about having egos lol.

I don't think it's necessarily a fixed thing, but as I stated in another thread, I call the Leo/Aqua axis the "attention axis."

I kinda agree with you amowls, I never rally notice aquas having egos.

Chances are the average aqua is nice and kind that you won't notice it.

I did bump into one Aqua that I just couldn't get along because she had the ego of being always right and having her ideas her way.

But after her I find that the others are pretty much l I don't argue because I agree anyway and on the "same page".

So chances are I probably don't notice, But she was an exception thought.

Now that I think about I think I must have boosted one Aquas ego, I was working with him in team and I pretty much glorified what a nice person he was.

I agreed it was well deserved anyway.

Well you guys are better then those smug Libras, that think there all that, At least you guys are nice.

I think your right my sister although she is a Capricorn she has a Mercury in Aqua.

she doesn't want to admit shes wrong half the time, were as with me a Gemini Mercury I try to look everything from logical way.

But we've learned to accept each others view point, although both of us are always firm before and after we enter a debate.

amowls,

Do you have mercury In Aqua? I wouldn't say always more like 9/10 time right. But I agree most of the time.

I'm glad were on the "same page".

Nah Aqu are definitely egotistical except we hide it and pretend that it doesn't exist.

It is a strange combination of being very hardheaded and egotism and knowing that you are just so brilliant and unique and yet being in a group so others see this yet not wanting to be a part of them - "U Can't Touch This" type of thing going on.

I agree with all the sentiments on here. Other Aqu overall grate on me, the ego and control. I want to be the one that does that We're a very difficult bunch.

Anyway, I like to see some of the polarities as:
Aries - I am
Libra - You are
Leo - Me am
Aquarius - We are

wow, this is all so interesting! haha we are at once egoless and egoful..

well my definition of ego is basically hanging on to a sense of one's self or mind as being right, better at the expense of true learning. often, usually, it's a fear thing, or a comfort-zone thing. so i guess aquas are used to being alone, in their minds, and spend an inordinate amount of time analyzing and problem solving. which would make us both 1) probablyy more adept at seeing things from a greater perspective than most people and 2) more inclined to believe that means we are right/better and possibly build up our egos too big and screw up the whole point of #1. haha.

conundrum indeed!

Well as you said we analyse, are detached by nature and spend a lot of time by ourselves not to be influenced and to allow our mind to logically process. Who can beat logic? If something is logically put to you without emotion, how can you defeat that? Also throw in Saturn which is about structure, tradition and rules and you feel that you are the system or the establishment that can't be defeated.

This kind of lead me to another thought. I remember some months ago there was a post about the Aquarian hypocritical nature. I can't remember who established the post but I think it is the combination of the somewhat opposing quality of Uranus and Saturn - one tears down structures, one puts them up and maintains them. Aquarians want freedom and the best for others but on their terms. If others establish their freedoms and things on their terms, Aqu doesn't like that and won't follow. This is about control and ego indirectly don't you think?

Hiya ((( Cakes! )))

This sounds right to me. A very good friend of mine (we dated a million years ago) has his agenda and thrives when he has a group that will follow. He will not, however, follow any other group, idea, person, etc. There's no give and take, but only give and give...hence the conundrum. Doesn't sound egotistical to give, but it's more like he'll bestow all of his good qualites on those who adore him...
