I'm not sure if anyone is astrologically predisposed to get a tattoo, but I would guess that people with a Uranus/Venus connection may be more likely to have unconventional ideas about beauty, Earth signs with some kind of linkage between Venus and Uranus or the sign of Aquarius, perhaps, may be more likely to relate this to the sensations of the body. Many people cite the feel of the tattoo needle as the reason they enjoy tattoos, which is a very sensual, earthy concept, but it's by no means an umbrella indicator.IP: Logged |

well to some tattoos is like cutting yourself. the pain makes your brain release chemicals (endorphins?) to make the pain go away and this becomes a high for people.IP: Logged |

mars is the needle, pluto the force...depends on the image tatooed though i'd think. Is it a butterfly in the meadow or skull and crossbones. I see introverted types getting tatoos to bring their internal world external, so could be neptune as well.IP: Logged |

There as to be some aspect to Venus, Sun, Neptune, Uranus, Mercury or a strong 5th house/leo influence. One of my older sister's friends is really into tattoos and she is a Sagittarius and my Aqua and Scorp friend really like piercings. I really only come across Fixed and Mutuable signs going into the hardcore, getting sleeves and numerous pierings and the Cardinal signs seem to like subtle and substance, my Aries best friend as what I call subtle piercings, like the nose, the belly button, and a Marilyn Manroe vs my sister's Sag friend's nose bridge piercing. Tattoos are so normal now that I don't think there are any special planetary aspects that would indicate such.More extreme forms of body mods (such as scarification or embedding) might. In any case, I have one tattoo. I do have a Venus/Uranus aspect, but I don't have anything going between Mars/Pluto or Mars/ASC, or Neptune/Mercury. IP: Logged |

from a personal standpoint (if we're going in that direction) i can't for the life of me stand tattoos... may be my moon/venus earth [also have a libra stellium] but i like to think of the body as a beautiful landscape and see tattoos/body piercings as ugly billboards, they just distract me from the view.edit: oh and if youre asking specific body parts my best guess would be the part that correlates to a sign/planet that is emphasized in their chart. like arms/hands for gem rising, back for libra or sun conj venus maybe also an angular sun/leo dynamic, mid chest again for leo, breast area for cancer/moon emphasis, etc. IP: Logged |

My Virgo Rising/Virgo Moon friend has a LOT of tattoos and absolutely loves them. She also has a thing for piercings. You'd think out of all the signs, the super Virgo wouldn't be into it. She does have an Aqua Venus, though. IP: Logged |

Uranus is the rebel planet so I would guess a very strong Uranian influence.IP: Logged |

The Rising Sign and the 1st house might indicate the type of tattoos someone would favour. Think about what you have and how that ties in with your ruling sign, and the position of the planet that rules it. Also, planets in the first house. I don't think whether or not people chose to get tattoos will be shown on a chart, unless they chose to go extreme, like maybe a spider's web over their face, then we might be moved to look for some sign of being deliberately different. Angelina Jolie Her chart must have indicators for this ! And it's very cliche I know, but Aquarius and Sag placements might have an effect. IP: Logged |

I think Tattooing is a combination of:1. Saturn - structure, skin, changing the skin; 2. Pluto - penetration, fundamental change to the skin; 3. Mars - cutting of skin. 4. Uranus - change. One astrology book, have to get it out, says tattooing is prominent in heavy Mars people. A Jolie has Moon in Aries and that Venus square Uranus aspect. Now I think it might be a combination of things that might lead to tattoos, not just one aspect of sign. For example, I'm Aqu Sun opp Saturn/square Uranus and Aries rising but I have no interest in tattooing myself. So maybe, it's just a trend thing. Also maybe it could be classed as fetishistic (as alluded to), so maybe we should study the astrology of fetishes. EDIT - tattooing was a cultural aspect of the Polynesian cultures in the Pacific. It was brought back to Europe through sailors. I'm not sure if there was prior tattooing in Asia prior to the contact between Polynesians and Europeans. However, given that it was sailors that went to the Pacific and the Polynesians live in the ocean, and given that "true" tattooing involves some artistic merit and watery colours, Neptune would have a significant input into tattooing. For Polynesians themselves, it is a customary thing and from my understanding, is a coming of age thing. So because of the coming of age and the forefather connection, that points to Saturn and culture would be Lunar in quality, I'd think. IP: Logged |
