Imo Venus is how we think sex "should" be. And Mars is how sex really is.So in keeping with that, Venus is how we think our sexuality "should be". Mars is how our sexuality really is.
Imo Mars energy is how you have sex from a long term level i.e the type of lover you are from a general consistent perspective.
When we are in "default" mode, we express Mars. This is who we are as a long term sexual partner. What we are really about.
If you have Mars in Aries for instance, you may be the type of sexual partner who seems fearless and risk seeking.
Mars in Taurus will be slower to open up sexually, preferring for there to be a slow courting process before being comfortable enough to let people in. They can be risk averse.
With Venus,we are trying to impress or "seduce".Its like the proverbial "makeup" we wear to draw others in and what we perceive our "attractive" or valuable selves to be.
When people think of themselves as lovers, they often highlight the ideals of Venus. But its actually Mars that is the action part.
If Venus is how one "imagines" their love life "should" be. Mars is what it really is from a tangible visceral level.
So Venus in Aries imagines themselves a straightforward lover and may advertise themselves as someone who approaches love/sexuality from a "heart on sleeve" pov.
But when Mars is in Cap, the long term partner they become however is different i.e they are a lot more cautious and methodical. Preferring to do "what works" than "what's new"
When Venus is in Libra, one may be the type who is more subtle about advertising their sexuality. They advertise themselves as more romantic and idealistic in their approach.
But if Mars is in Taurus, the sexuality long-term is more earthy, pragmatic and physical rather than intellectually based etc. Strongly sensual rather than conceptual.
Eros as an asteroid is what I understand to be what is "sensual" more than just purely sexual-if that makes sense.
When I think of Eros expression, I think of an Ice cream.
Venus will be drawn to the "look" of the ice cream and its easthetic appeal. It "looks" so tasty.
Mars will be drawn to actually consuming the ice cream and feeling the coolness it brings. It wants the action of "doing".
Eros will enjoy the texture of the flavour, the smell of the cone, the sensation of the cream on the tongue etc.
So Eros on any planet will be concerned more with the "sensual" expression of the energy. It adds a layer of wanting to "savour" the experience. And not only with sex.
Eros on Venus may idealize curves on the body and idolize pictures of curvy people i.e how nice it would be to "touch" them and "caress" them etc.It is aroused strongly from a "conceptual" pov.
Eros aspect Venus in Gemini may for instance ,be the type to write erotic fiction and describe things in such titillating details ,that the reader "feels" like they are there.
Eros on Mars(me)may have a thing with physically touching something. They are more demonstrative.
They may for instance enjoy oral play/sex i.e lightly biting the bum, licking the neck, scratching the back or licking the toes etc.
Mars wants to "consume" and Eros is about "sensualizing" the experience of consumption. So there is often a fixation to break something off and consume it little by little long-term
Look to the element to divulge what your Eros sign finds "sensual" to do.
Eros in fire may go back/forth between the excitement of wanting to consume something vs. Taking their sensual time. The confusion may lead to frustration of dissatisfaction from climaxing too soon or being unable to follow ones impulses.
Eros in Air may have such a "perfect" conceptual image of what they'll enjoy, that they are preoccupied more with talking about it rather than creating it. Or they may do far too many things all at once etc.
