has anybody had a conjunction opposition between either mars/venus/pluto/moon etc... and never felt the typical things that you would expect to feel?

i have met a couple of girls where their venus has been opposed my mars and i have'nt really felt the the intense physical attraction and wonder if its been the case for other people.

let me know your experiences!

Yes! I think attraction synastry tends to be activated in conjunction with other things--like the kind of relationship two people have (or could have), their biochemical attraction level, life stages, the personal lives of each person, how each person is using/feeling/activating his or her natal aspects, and cultural issues (people tend to be attracted to people whose cultural background feels familiar to them, though of course there are exceptions.)

Also, just astrologically, as DarkDreamer astutely pointed out in another thread, different people will feel synastry differently based on what they like and want personality-wise.

For instance, a man with a Sag Moon and Jupiter conjunction in a funnel chart, with all his other planets "funneling" through that conjunction, might be more attracted to a woman with a pile of planets in her ninth house, a Sun-Jupiter conjunction, a love of travel and philosophy, and several Jupiter contacts in their synastry than a woman whose Venus squares his Mars and trines his Pluto.

One person's idea of a great relationship might be very Uranian and full of surprises, and find Uranus contacts more satisfying and exciting than Venus contacts.

I find synastry more useful for working with existing relationships than for checking to see who is attracted to who...in my experience, lots of people use synastry that way because they have unrequited feelings for someone, or a very projection-oriented crush on someone they don't know (good rule of thumb: if you don't know someone well enough to ask for their birthtime, you're using the synastry out of desperation), or a relationship that's more in the fantasy than reality realm because it is long distance and they only see each other once a month, or the person is in another committed relationship.

Asteroids are especially used this way. Trust me, if you check out your synastry with your dentist, 27 random strangers, your accountant, a newborn baby, and your dead great Aunt, you will come up with some Hot Soul Mate attraction aspects in the synastry...and that is a huge "so what"!!

I also think it depends on the skill of the astrologer, who needs to use lots of intuition and art, not just turn to cookbook-style interpretations. For instance, I have noticed that in some charts, Saturn represents the father, in others, Mars does, in others, the Sun.

We all have some hot synastry with people there's no attraction with whatsoever.

I've only ever had this with a female friend of mine, we have an EXACT Venus/Mars conjunction (I'm Mars, she's Venus), although her Saturn is exactly conjunct my Mars too.

I've always admired her style.

ummmmmmmm

a long distance relationship can be in the reality realm and not just the fantasy realm.

also...asteroid aspects can be very significant..especially the major asteroids including Ceres which is now promoted to dwarf planet.

but I pay attention to the main stuff a lot more than I do with the asteroids

if the main stuff isn't there, I wouldn't even bother looking at asteroids

Relationship Astrology can be very insightful when looking at attraction stuff without being in a relationship. It really depends on how you go about using Relationship Astrology.

I use no more than 4 degrees...unless Sun,Moon,Midheaven, and Ascendant are involved ....that's how Cosmobiologists do it.

I use only 2 degree orb for Uranus aspects in synastry and 1 degree orb for Neptune and Pluto. I am considering using smaller orbs for Pluto because it's a one of many kuiper belt objects. I am considering looking at the other kuiper belt objects in synastry too. They would be given 30 minutes of arc for orbs.

I lean more towards geometrical approach like Cosmobiology, and so I look at midpoints too. I use no more than 1 degree orb.

I agree with what DD said. I have said those things before numerous times.

Look at the whole chart, matt, both of them, and when you compare them in synastry, don't forget whose is the chart.

If you share Mars Opposite Venus with your granny, you're not going to want to get it on with her, are you?

I share Mars Square Pluto with my stepdaughter. I'm just not her type, and though she looks like her dad, that isn't quite enough to do it for me, either! In this case this says more to me that there is a potential for buried issues to explode into a big row. It's a warning sign. Nothing to do with hot sex. I've got a temper, so's she, let's tread a careful path. Luckily, she is sensible with an earth heavy chart, it trines my earth planets. Context, Matt, the context that generally we get on alright so we can work around this one.

I wouldn't

but that's just me

As an astrologer,I've learned that what works for me won't work for everybody else.

I can only tell you that if the orb works for you, then that's fine.

Yes, I'm not attracted to men who have Venus either conjunct or opposed my Mars. Square is OK.

there's this guy who's interested in me & in our synastry,

my venus conj his moon(if he's a pm birth)
my pluto conj his moon(if he's an am birth)
my venus/pluto conj his moon(if he's born @ noon).

i find him hot & wouldn't mind dating him. but em a born flirt so i'd flirt with any single/hot/sweet/shy/young/over confident male.

my ex's sun/mars conj my pluto,
loads of physical attraction!!!!

I & my partner share mars conj pluto in composite & he does make me wet.

i've pluto conj moon in composite with another guy but i don't find him physically attractive..had a teeny meeny crush on him coz he's a real sweetheart & reminds me of my bf. we share a tight venus trine mars too.
