As many of you here know, I'm obsessed with indicators of mutual versus one-sided attraction in synastry.I'm beginning to think that the most "felt" aspects in synastry are double-whammies, even if one part of the double whammy is at a wide orb. And I'm starting to notice that in my "requited" relationships, there are usually: -double-whammy interplanetary contacts (often with one at a wide, the other at a narrow orb) -conjunct angles (IC conjunct AC) -both-ways node contacts of some kind What do you find? I had a Venus-Mars double whammy and a Pluto-Moon double whammy but we also had Pluto/Moon aspect in our Natals, with my Capricorn friend T__________________T.......Oh I felt it and I still do but I am kind of over it(not really>.> but cheshirekat would love to think so) and so with that I think doubly whammy are strongly felt but they are also a b!tch to get over or maybe my cursed plutonian nature is stinging me again... In that post I made in Soul Unions about Marsboy, I noted the huge sexual tension between us (I called him today and he is sick with something and he was like "well I cant hang out because what if we swapped saliva YOU WOULD GET SICK"). DW ASC conjunct Vertex by 1 degree and DW Moon/Mars (Opposing and Squaring). His MC and my IC are also conjunct by 1 degree. My boyfriend and I have DW Sun square Mars (under 4 degrees) and DW Sun conjunct Venus but its a bit wider than I normally count (7 degrees). Our ASCs are conjunct. My ex boyfriend that I dated for 2 1/2 years had DW Venus/Mars (conjunction and opposition), DW Sun trine Venus, and ASC was conjunct his MC. IP: Logged |

Lucia, I think you're right on about this..... Only thing I can remember here with double whammy in synastry is Venus/Pluto, Mars/Moon, and Venus/Mars....all pretty intense obviously. It definitely seemed to heighten the sensation to have it going both ways. I'm sure it's true to an extent with the other stuff as well....and Amowls brought up the Vertex, which might also figure in. I'm thinking it's a sensitive point. A DW with that might be pretty intense too. IP: Logged |

Lucia23, have you studied "negative" double whammies?I have Sun square Neptune DW and Mercury square Mars DW with someone important to me. IP: Logged |

Lana, the more I look at synastry between couples I actually know, "good" synastry includes lots of "negative" and challenging aspects. I have started to look at really grisly aspects as just as important as "fun" ones. (And I'm not going to pretend that your DWs with that important person sound like any fun at all.)Think of aspects as ENERGY that can be activated in different ways. In some intense synastry, the couple do not have a large quantity of aspects together, but the quality of the energy contacts they do have is intense. In other intense synastry, the couple is just all over each other in the chart. The double whammies, to me, "negative" or "positive", can indicate MUTUALITY in how energy between two people is felt. But I'm just groping around in the dark here. I got really interested in this after getting rejected for the first time--my 8th house Leo Sun trying to make sense of how my intuition was wrong, and how I could feel so much while he didn't. It still doesn't make sense to me, but on the plus side I've learned a lot more about astrology! IP: Logged |

Thanks, Lucia. I understand what you mean that it's about energy. What I also find interesting is that synastry aspects represent one kind of energy which can then change into something different in a composite. Do you study composites at all...? Our difficult DW's are smoother in the composite: Sun conjunct Neptune and Mars conjunct Mercury. I like your ideas and the way you bring them up at LL. Orbs are in bracketsSun Mercury, opposition & inconjunct (3/6) Sun Mars, square & trine (2/1) Sun Uranus, square & inconjunct (5/0) Moon Mars, square & trine (0/1) Moon Uranus, sextile & opposition (4/1) Merc Jupiter, sextile & opposition (3/6) Venus Mars, square & trine (5/6) Venus Jupiter, conjunction & trine (9 too wide/6) Venus Uranus, opposition & sextile (4/2) Mars Saturn, conjunction & sextile (3/5) Venus Vertex, square/square (2,4) Also a nodal reversal (4) Im surprised we dont have a DW Venus-Pluto (have 1 way opposition) Sometimes we are poison to each other.

Very interesting thread, Lucia.I had a double whammy with this guy, his Venus conjunct my Mars and his Mars sextile my Venus. I was NEVER attracted to him while he pursued me for a couple of years. Then one day I decided to give him a chance and boy, things just took off. This was one of the best relationships I ever had. Though we ended up going our separate ways, this man was lovely to me and he will always have a special place in my heart. IP: Logged |

Very interesting, Belage. With a guy I knew as a teenager, we had his Venus trine my Mars (3 degrees) and his Mars conjunct my Venus (2 degrees.) He hotly pursued me, and I wasn't interested. We became close friends, and then (after a year and a half) I fell in love with him. It was a complicated relationship that felt very karmic to me. I never fell out of love with him. Through that whole thing, it felt more like he was Mars (the pursuer) and I was Venus (the pursued.) My AC/DC was tightly conjunct his MC/IC, our Chirons were exactly conjunct (0 degrees), our nodes were more loosely conjunct (2 degrees), and my Pluto was exactly conjunct his Vertex. (Also at a 0 degree orb: my Vertex square his Venus, opposing his Psyche, and in minor aspect to a bunch of his love asteroids...an exact Sun-Sun sextile...a Jupiter-Jupiter conjunction at 1 degree, an exact Pluto-Pluto, and some Saturn stuff. His Saturn is right on my DC/his IC.) We were born 2 months apart, so that much give us lots of those conjunctions? But boy, we both felt it!!! I've always seen him as kind of a muse. A lot of my work is about him. Also that Venus-Mars conjunction was in his 5th house, my 7th. IP: Logged |

Are you taking the apply and seperating aspects into consideration?

Agreed. Also noticed that there usually are some aspects under one degree, involving Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars, ASC, IC, or NN. IP: Logged | |
