I know that Chiron conjunctions or trines/sextiles in synastry (depending on the planets involved of course) are supposed to have a generally positive effect and a healing influence. Would oppositions cause the opposite effect, or are they based mainly on the same type of influence?

I’m mainly interested in Sun Chiron opposition.

Ive dealt with the oppositions(double whammy with moons), its definitely painful. I think any chiron aspect is painful, and sensitive point for someone. I think the opposition/squares forces us to face it in a more challenging way. I think the opposition can heal us by challenging us to face it in a different way than you would with conj/trines/etc. My interaction with the double whammy moon oppositions taught me a lot about my emotions, reactions, to people. I learned a lot from it. It hurt like hell, of course.

I've actually read that Chiron squares to Venus are good, but to malefic planets can be pretty bad (this is according to regular Western Astrology, not the Magi).

As far as I know, oppositions are supposed to be easier to handle than squares, probably because the energy is less blocked and more flexible.

What I'm curious about is whether the oppositions imply the exact opposite effect of the positive trines/sextile or they can carry at least some of the significance of the healing influences that other easy aspects involve. And if the aspect is generally negative, who is supposed to play the part of the wounding influence, the Chiron or the planet person?

I also heard that when it comes to Chiron oppositions, the roles can be reversed and the people may identify with each other, according to the symbols of the planets they represent.
