Okay, here's what I once did for a guy whose birthday I already guessed (down to the exact year) but who didn't feel that was enough for me to prove my trust in astrology.He didn't even give me a time of day, so consider yourself lucky that this guy did.
First, I looked at all the possible rising's, which seemed to fit him most. It was partly easy because I had just broken up with someone who had the same sun sign, but judging by their behaviour I reckoned he must've had more in common with my ex. So I went for anything between early Leo rising and Virgo rising (my ex is a Leo rising).
That bit, you obviously don't need because you have a guideline already; just use 2 pm as the time of birth, but give yourself at least 45 minutes to spare in each direction.
Then comes the most important part;
In the example, this guy had spent some time in a mental institution and he was clinically depressed. So I went for Saturn in 12th house (could indicate being forced into a mental institution, or severe clinical depression) and then I started fitting all the objects (planets) in the houses.
I finally came up with a Leo rising after all, and his birthday somewhere around quarter to 8 at night (he was an Aquarius, like my ex).
In the mean time he said he'd ask his mother, and would only tell me what she'd said after I'd figured his chart out. So I gave him the verdict and he told me that his mother could only narrow it down between half past 7 and 8 pm. Spot on, so I'd say this approach works!
So, all you have to do is fit his "planets" to the houses they are in!
