Hey guys,

Usually when I do a chart for someone, and the birth time is unknown, I use 6:00am. I had read somewhere that you can use either 6:00am or 12:00noon. What transits would give you a better indication of the time, if you have the dates for their major life events, i.e., marriage, birth of children, divorce, moves, etc. Transits to the MC? Would I focus primarily on the Solar Arc chart or the Progressed chart?

Hello new person who may or may not be staying round. You need to learn how to do astrology. Mainly using house rulers. Then find the areas you are looking for with transits, and you can keep going.

Not really something that can be one from the start of the journey into astrology.

Rectifying a natal assumes that certain events do happen and are reflected in the natal chart.

A local Astrologer once told me many years ago to write a list of 10 major life events that happened in one's life and start off there.....For example - moving to another city, a death in the family, a birth of a child etc....

Try being more less condescending, patronizing to the person!

Also cosmobiologists rectify charts by examining aspects to the Midheaven.
They don't use house rulers because houses aren't used in their system.

Therefore, it really depends on what astrological system is used to rectify charts.

From a cosmobiological view, the poster was right on track because the Midheaven is looked at rectify charts!

It's not easy but it can be done

It may take you a year though. It took me the best part of 3 YEARS to rectify mine!!!!

You do need accurate dates of MAJOR events and then you look at MC transits. I had a few MC/AC and IC transits all together.

Good luck!

Thanks to everyone for your help! It's something I want to learn how to do, so you have pointed me in the right direction.

Raymond,
Thank you for your comments about the other message. And I also want to thank you for never being condescending or patronizing to those of us who are new. I have learned so much about astrology, just from reading your posts. You are always very gracious to those of us who are trying to learn, and make every effort to share your knowledge.

Thank you.

There is a complicated technique from Vedic Astrology too. I am fine tuning it. It will help to have the 10 major life events too.
Sabian Symbol of Ascendant is also very important to get the exact degree, by trial and error once you know the Ascendant Sign.

Can I add my two cents?

I've done the more contemporary way of doing rectifications of a chart, by using major events in one's life. Now I'm not going to knock the system, because it might have its use when an Astrologer tries to rectify a chart for a customer they have never met.

But... major events generally include major (read: outer) planets. Planets or luminaries like Mercury, Venus or the Moon only point to minor events because they occur too often. Minor events can be precise, but what I've been taught is that you should allow some time to pass over major events.

Like Pluto crossing my rising, which changed my entire outer personality (I became very inward and shy, while before that I talked to everyone, even perfect strangers. The moment this occured can be pinpointed simply by looking at my school reports - which were based more on our personalities than our points). I have been told that this was something that happened over a few years, because Pluto moves very slow.

Certainly not denying that Pluto did something to me when it crossed my rising, but... if it takes years to develop; how can you rectify a chart accurately by looking at transits to major events in that person's life.

Personally, I prefer a "tactic" I've used a few times, which seems to work quite well. I just use a person's personality. Because we all know that a sun in Capricorn is not just a sun in Capricorn but could be a sun in 11th too, giving it some more influence.

I've tried it 3 or 4 times, two times I was spot on, the other 1 (and a half ) I never had the chance to ask that person because they are out of my life and have been for a long time.

But it's not a bad track record, and in my opinion you could get more accurate than using major events
