Lynda Hill’s Newsletter - Getting it Right the First Time: May's Scorpio Full Moon and Mercury Retrograde - please pass on!

The best time to hold your tongue is the time you feel you must say something or bust. Josh Billings

Accept your genius and say what you think. Ralph Waldo Emerson

When you talk, you repeat what you already know; when you listen, you often learn something. Jared Sparks

You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be misquoted then used against you. Anonymous

INTERPRETER, N. One who enables two persons of different languages to understand each other by repeating to each other what it would have been to the interpreter's advantage for the other to have said. Ambrose Bierce

May's Scorpio full Moon falls on the evening of Friday May 8 in the United States and around the middle of the day on Saturday May 9 in Australia. The Sabian Symbol for this full Moon is very interesting in the light of the fact that Mercury is just now going retrograde, Mercury retrograde bringing snafus and problems and issues to do with communications, messages and the issue of getting things right the first time. The Symbol is Scorpio 19: A Parrot Listening and Then Talking, Repeats a Conversation He Has Overheard. The following are my Keywords and Cautions for this degree:

Keywords: Transmitting information or knowledge. The need to integrate things into consciousness. Recorded messages. Answering and fax machines. Mumbling. Translators, birds, parrots, news reporters, stool pigeons. Telephone operators. Messages from strange places. Automated responses. New languages. Talking to animals. Talk radio. The media.

The Caution: Rote responses that are ill considered. "Towing the party line" without having any opinion of your own. Going over the same territory. Losing meaning through repetition. Repeating without knowing the real situation. Meaningless banter. Tunnel vision. Gossiping. The media.

The Sun degree is very telling and promising and full of potentials, most of which are not yet arising but are on their way. The Sabian Symbol for the Sun is Taurus 19: A New Continent is Rising Out of the Ocean. This degree speaks of enormous potentiality emerging, sudden eruptions of talent or fields of endeavor. The greenhouse effect. Global warming. Atlantis and other ancient underwater cities. Evolution. Patience. Developments that are slow but sure. Endeavoring to hold life together under the enormous pressure of the new. Cautions for this degree include: Continually seeking "new worlds" rather than finding a place in the existing one. No responsibility for the birth of the new. No respect for the old or established. Not shifting or evolving. Staying stuck in old realities.

As is so often the case and particularly so now with Venus and Mars emerging out of Pisces and into Aries, we are evolving and growing and learning and arising. Life feels fresh and new very often for those of us who are lucky enough to have good lives with our needs and wants taken care of. One issue with the "parrot" degree can be that we listen to the garbage that's being spread by the media, the government, our associates or those around us, particularly around issues to do with this most recent threat to our peace of mind - the swine flu. There is always something we're being warned about and this degree can bring those issues to the fore, to the light or into our consciousness for us to consider. I believe that a lot of these issues are purely to frighten us and keep us in line. Of course, the trick with this degree is to be discerning; not everything you hear is worth listening to or passing on to others. There are many very positive things to say about this parrot degree, however. It can show people who channel information, who translate so others may understand, who listen and discern and pass on messages that are very useful, time saving or uplifting. The parrot degree can show incredible intellect all the way to those who just repeat things because they have no mind of their own or nothing better to do with their time. One very bright and amazing parrot that comes to mind is Einstein, the talking parrot. This wonderful bird shows us how intelligent parrots can be. Click here to see the video. This video is for the fun of it - gorgeous! Also, this one of Snowball the dancing cockatoo. I love cockatoos, have many of them around, they visit our homes and generally entertain us with their antics.

The aspects of Saturn to the Sun and Moon will provide us with some discipline, form, patience and structure in the lead up to this full Moon. The trick is, with Saturn on this degree, hardening of feelings and a lack of empathy and grace can interfere with emotions but can also show us where we perhaps get too involved, too upset, too wound up emotionally, after all, one can't blow one's nose safely into "an ornamental lace handkerchief", especially with Saturn placed there. Tears are for those times when they really mean something and many may be rather careworn with this degree highlighted by the hard taskmaster.

Mars is on Aries 13 - a quintessential Aries degree - A Bomb Which Failed to Explode is Now Safely Hidden From Discovery. Unless carefully handled, emotions could get out of hand with anger or surprise arising, sometimes out of nowhere. The trick is to defuse situations, or, at least, to watch one's reactions for overwhelm or snap decisions.

Venus provides some help in watching from the sidelines while being fully involved in something. The Symbol is Aries 7: A Man Successfully Expressing Himself in Two Worlds at Once. This is a great degree that can have us splitting our energies and times between things, or persons, that need our attention, but there can be a need to be careful of infidelity of any kind. Staying true to those you love can be tricky as others may have their own agendas that they're keeping close to their hearts, but being open and loving can lead to successfully negotiating all kinds of issues.

The North Node brings us clues to potentials that are all around us now in this emerging time. The Symbol is Aquarius 4: A Hindu Healer Glows With a Mystic Healing Power. This degree speaks of divine healing potency, natural healing methods, going on faith, humility in the face of greatness, yogis and fakirs, finding one's center, glowing health, radiating love, spirit and calm, tapping vast reservoirs of healing forces, auras that radiate, urine therapy, pranic energy, reiki healing, etc.
During this week of the full Moon, Mercury turns retrograde. This deserves it's own blog entry, but suffice to say that the retrograde occurs on Gemini 2: A Nervous Gentleman, Dressed in an Elaborate Santa Claus Costume, is Filling Christmas Stockings Secretly. This can show gifts being dispensed, receiving from unknown or unexpected sources, the longing for superficial gratification, rewards coming, surprise visits, token gestures, furtive acts, charity, philanthropy, secret affairs, the need for a quick getaway, etc. More about this later. A great way to feed into this energy is to do something out-of-the-box nice for someone - make their day by doing something special or wonderful or unexpected.

Basically, the message of this full Moon is to check what's going on in your mind, in your heart and in the world around you. Some things will ring true, others will not. Be discerning about what you listen to and pass on to others. Keep quiet about things that will not further you to talk about. Keep your own council unless you have something valuable to say - then, who knows, you could come out with something truly amazing, truly healing and truly beneficial to yourself and others.
