I guess 12th house.
Never really checked any Alcoholic charts.

Not sure why the 12th is used because you drink something through your mouth. Seems more a 3rd house activity.

depends what the reason for getting drunk is ..
i.e what motivates ..
is it to the point of physical addiction ? ..
stop drinking and the nerves start to play havoc ?

carl,

It has nothing to do with boredom. It has to do with unhappiness, feelings of inadequacy, and/or a desire to anaesthetize the pains of life.

pure goji berry juice and arak cocktail ..
~ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ouzo ~
get p*ssed and stay healthy ..

inspired by drinking 'yogi teas' ..

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
i once drank a bottle of vodka a day over a woman ..
went on for a few months ..
looking back over transits of that time .. be no wonder
( that was very early '80s .. never been on a 'binge' since .. )
i've not had goji's since new-years ..
just took delivery of some ..
chance to feel the difference ..
.. relaxing ..
i'd say binge on goji's rather than alchohol ..
'xcept too many goji's could see a sprint to the loo .. aided by escaping volumes of gas
wouldn't be suprised to learn that someone has experimented with fermenting goji berries ..
keep thinking of herbal wines often drunk warm .. herbs 'n spices ..
Alcoholism runs strong in my family
My maternal grandfather was an alcoholic like both of his parents
He had Moon in Pisces like me, and he had stationary Saturn in Pisces oppose Neptune in Virgo.
He had Heliocentric North Neptune Node conjunct Midheaven with 23 minutes of arc
He was also strong water
Sun and Pluto in Cancer, Jupiter and Ascendant in Scorpio, Moon and Stationary Saturn in Pisces
He also had Sun quintile Neptune
midpoints:
Neptune conjunct Mars/Midheaven - '07
Mars conjunct Jupiter/Neptune - '08
Neptune oppose Uranus/Node - 1'18
Uranus square Mercury/Neptune - '50
Mercury square Mars/Neptune - '09
Mars semisquare Venus/Neptune - '47
Moon semisquare Sun/Neptune - '47
Ascendant semisquare Mercury/Neptune - '39
My mother is a recovering alcoholic
She has
Neptune in Libra 5th
trine Sun in Gemini in 12th
square Venus in Cancer in 2nd
square Uranus in Cancer in 2nd
sextile Pluto in Leo in 3rd
sesquiquadrate Midheaven
parallel Midheaven
(Neptune-Midheaven bilevel)
midpoints:
Pluto conjunct Sun/Neptune - '12
Ascendant oppose Neptune/Midheaven - '59
Midheaven oppose Venus/Neptune - '17
Neptune square Venus/Uranus - '09
Mercury sesquiquadrate Mars/Neptune - '49
Sun sesquiquadrate Moon/Neptune - '51
Node semisquare Mars/Neptune - '17
Node semisquare Jupiter/Neptune - '57
she has too much water with Ascendant,Mercury,Venus,Jupiter,and Uranus in Cancer with their dispositor,Moon and Saturn in Scorpio
My Aunt Dominga/my mom's paternal half sister is a recovering alcoholic
Neptune in Scorpio in 12th
conjunct Sun in Scorpio in 12th
sextile Midheaven
midpoints:
Neptune conjunct Jupiter/Node - '39
Neptune conjunct Saturn/Uranus - 1'11
Neptune conjunct Venus/Mars - 1'13
Neptune conjunct Mercury/Mars - 1'23
Sun semisquare Neptune/Node - '11
Mars semisquare Neptune/Midheaven - '38
Neptune semisquare Saturn/Ascendant - '14
Neptune semisquare Mercury/Node - '31
Neptune semisquare Venus/Node - '41
Heliocentric Neptune Nodes square Neptune - '05
Heliocentric South Neptune quincunx Midheaven - '00
My Uncle Eddie/my mom's paternal half brother was an alcoholic
He doesn't have any significant Neptune aspects
so looking at midpoints:
Venus conjunct Neptune/Ascendant - '37
Venus conjunct Uranus/Neptune - 1'03
Saturn square Neptune/Node - '43
Moon sesquiquadrate Uranus/Neptune - '21
Moon sesquiquadrate Neptune/Ascendant - '46
Neptune sesquiquadrate Mars/Jupiter - '13
Ascendant semisquare Sun/Neptune - '26
Neptune semisquare Mercury/Venus - '37
He has Heliocentric South Neptune Node quincunx Sun -'22
I have never had a drinking problem,and I was only a social drinker when I was in nightclubs. I was influenced by being in the navy where a lot of drinking is common. I got a drunk a few times. I haven't drunk alcoholic beverages since January of 1999.
After I got into Astrology IN 1998, and kept noticing that both ultrasensitivity and alcoholism runs in my family with both strong water and Neptune influences running in my family, I realized that ultrasensitivity and alcoholism are strongly connected to each other. Alcoholism being one of the negativity outlets for ultrasensitivity. I knew that if I continued drinking alcoholic beverages, I could wind up an alcoholic because I am an ultrasensitive person with both strong water and Neptune influence too.
Moon in Pisces
Moon square Neptune
Mercury parallel Neptune
Venus parallel Neptune
Mars square Neptune
Jupiter conjunct Neptune
Saturn oppose/contraparallel Neptune
Uranus semisquare Neptune in Right Ascension
Neptune sextile Pluto
midpoints:
Mercury conjunct Sun/Neptune - '13
Moon oppose Saturn/Neptune - '17
Saturn oppose Jupiter/Neptune - '05
Neptune square Venus/Midheaven - '17
Mars square Mercury/Neptune - '49
Mars square Venus/Neptune - '53
Neptune semisquare Mars/Jupiter - '17
Neptune semisquare Venus/Ascendant - '48
Neptune semisquare Mercury/Ascendant - '54
Jupiter semisquare Neptune/Ascendant - '39
Venus semisquare Neptune/Node - '38
Heliocentric South Neptune Node
conjunct North Lunar Node - '59
trine Midheaven - '14
as you see my uncle doesn't have any significant Neptune aspects nor water.
So there has to be other things besides Neptune aspects and strong water influence
Neptune midpoint pictures seem to fill in the blanks. Neptune Nodes could do the same
remember that Neptune configurations manifest according to what a person chooses to do with the Neptune energy.
look at me....I have a so-called afflicted Neptune,and I never had a drinking problem. I have been staying clear away from alcoholic beverages as well as drugs. I don't even take aspirin for a headache. I prefer herbal remedies. Psychiatric medications gave me side effects too,and so I stayed away from them. I found that cod liver oil tones down my hypersensitivity.
People i know who are alcoholics have neptune in 5th and 12th like your family as well.
My mum has neptune in 5th. She gambles though and went through a period of taking drugs. It manifest differently. But it shows addictions if badly afflicted in those houses.
any Neptune aspect can indicate that
It really doesn't matter where Neptune is placed. Heck.....I don't even put much emphasis on house placements because I am more geometrically oriented in my Astrology.
there are people with easy Neptune aspects that have addictions too and not just hard Neptune aspects
Stephen Arroyo talked about how he found hard Neptune aspects in the charts of serious spiritual seekers too.
free will is the ultimate factor
I dont drink. Well hardly! Allergic to pubs but may have a glass...share a bottle or three....occasional meals....with friend.
I smoke. Dont enjoy the tobacco, but do the other stuff, so I am an alcoholic (who doesnt drink alcohol)
My 12th has Capricorn there with Saturn as the ruler. Saturn squares Neptune (Sag in 11th house)
The postive aspect being Saturn conjunct to 11th house ruler Jupiter. 11th is 12th (end of) from 12th (smoking/alcohol)
Which means that I would likely give it up at some point. The current transit of Saturn in Virgo wil conjunct my Jupiter at 22 degrees, which is the best time to stop any 12th house activity.
Thats cut out the tobacco for good and switch over to pipes.
There is a family link. Not talking astrological.
my whole family is addicted to something.
My mum with neptune in 5th is addicted to gambling and drugs and even coca cola and the internet.
Her brother my uncle is addicted to drugs and has neptune in 1st.
My grandfather who is addicted to alcohol has neptune in 5th also.
I have neptune opposing moon on my MC and IC ( 2 deg orb ) and I dont do ANY drugs. I dont smoke and I drink once a year and that might be a glass of red wine.
I dont get addicted or hooked on anything ever!
Yes, all of that, and more. But also, sometimes, boredom. Which often coincides with loneliness. But still, boredom.
I use to get drunk alot, I was a regular booze hound. But I had to stop after going to the doctors...I have Neptune in my 6th house, Mars in Cancer in 1st, it might also be all the water I have in my chart. Quite a few of my planets are in water houses to boot(most sit in 12th an 4th house)..an I'll will admit I drank because I was unhappy and felt like I needed an escape from my so called reality. Now about as close as I come to a drink is the Patron screen saver I have on my computer..
In my research, Neptune in 6th is a major factor. Afflicted Neptune in general and possibly afflicted Neptune in 5th and 12th should increase the urge to get drunk.
I have a very strongly aspected Neptune in 9th, exactly trine Saturn in 5th Leo.
Have not even tasted beer nor have the slightest inner urge to drink alcohol. It is as if I have been genetically programmed to abstain from all forms of drugs/alcohol.
