Ahem. For my sake please and international members, can the N American knowlflakes PLEASE use a dating system that does not rely the American dating system. I find the American dating system very confusing and misleading which could lead to me providing wrong information. For example, 4/5/09 reads to me as 4 May 09. Can you please make your months and days clear.

Thank you.

You don't have to worry about me, as I always write my dates as: dd/mm/yy. I have too many international friends not to do this!

23,

You just highlighted an intresting problem.

Everyone, I know writes it m/dd/yyyy I was even taught in elementary school to write the date that way.

But, lately i've been seing dd/m/yyyy

It reminds me of the good old Metric vs Standard debate.

Well I knew this high numbers argument would be used (as well as the same digit date) and that is fair enough for situations like that but like CC, I tend write out the month to make it clear that it is the month that I'm talking about.

AG - for some reason, I still get confused when I look at a date like that, I don't know why. It's the initial apprehension of having to decipher. My problem I guess.

I'm sorry if I sound anal, it's just that I find it confusing and often it happens that I go off and do some astroadvice on the wrong dates! It even happened to me this morning!

Likewise for international users, writing out dates could confuse N American knowflakes, it's a problem that goes both ways really.

Well I was born on the 17th so I don't know how that can confuse anyone, and I can usually decipher a date written from an Non-North American's P.O.V....its never been an issue for me. Though I will try to make sure my dates are clear for everyone in the future.

23,

I get confused about this, too, and am always afraid I get the birthdates wrong, if one is born on a day from 1st to 12th.

You know it kinda reminds me of this funny scenario in this slash fan-fic I've been following on LJ for a while about some foreign guys (who are actually footballers in real life) making it in New York City. One guy decided to write his D.O.B. in the North American fashion as 12/10/87. The other guy had read it with an International P.O.V and come October 12th....he threw the first guy a surprise party.
