venus in 12= a compassionate nature, perhaps pisces/neptunian relationships, but no placement indicates unhappiness per se...

I think the problem with this placement or so I've heard, is that its hard to decide what 12th house Venusians really want, since this is the house of hidden secrets or perhaps a better way to put it is unconscious desires. I know someone who has a 12 house Cancer Venus, it adds a more mystical side to his Venus than would seem otherwise...

Hi Sweet, I'm new here but I think I see what your concern is. Venus in H12 can denote somebody who feels unloved. To see whether this general feeling affects your romantic relationships, visit your H7. To get an idea about why you might feel generally unloved, look to the houses Venus rules (Taurus, Libra).

Some people say this aspect describes somebody who is prone to secret love affairs and my astrology instructer once told me that a H12 Venus can indicate a poisoner.

I have a 12th house venus and I am prone to secret liasions. which i also have jupiter conjunct my descendant. I will tell ya want I want 12th house venus is like having venus in pisces I wanna merge into something I want to have a profound experience nothing superficial some guys I like I have admired from a far. worldly love does not meet my expectations as what I think love should be and settling as some people do is just not for me.

Not to mention I am a sucker for the tragic love storys wich ironically also plays out in my own life. But hey You asked if 12th house venus does without no we dont hehe

No, Venus IN a house would not indicate such a thing, to my knowledge/guessing.

I guess aspects are more indicative of relationship troubles. 1st (self) and 7th (other/relationship) in negative aspect would show what you ask. Negative aspects from the 7th ruler to other planets would also show the trouble. The type of trouble.

I have Neptune square 7th ruler Sun. I cannot think of how Neptune would relate to my problem. There are two others with this natal, so should be similar themes.

what do you mean by secret liaisons? Do you mean just having relationships with people or "affairs" that you just don't reveal to the rest of the world? or do you mean like having secret affairs even if you're with a partner?

Venus in the 12th can indicate someone who gives more than they expect to get back in relationships.

They tend to be less demanding and vocal about their needs when relating to others, and thus would be prone to staying in relationships that aren't 'balanced' or are not clearly defined - perhaps even shady.

Sometimes people with venus here grew up in families where vocalizing and asserting an individual's need for affection/parental attention was discouraged due to other siblings being more needy/dominant etc.
Thus these people learn to make do with what little they can get.

In my opinions, this ability to give selflessly without expecting much in return (or not being clear in what it is they are expecting form their partner or relationship)is why you often find a link to secret liaisons and relationships being associated with this venus/house position.

But don't be discouraged, like with everything else in astrology, this is only one minute facet of this position, one of a multitude of possibilities that this placement can play out as.

thank you Redstar!!

That was a really encouraging/insightful interpretation! The thing about giving selflessly, not expecting much in return, growing up in a dominant household, I've never heard before linked with this placement, but I must say it rings true!! Thanks again!

You're very welcome etherealenlightenment

I haven't seen much written about that either, but fortunately I've had the pleasure of knowing a good few individuals with this placement, and these energies and situations were often present.

On the bright side - these individuals are some of the most selfless, gentle and caring individuals who exude this divine grace no matter what the circumstances (very piscean/neptunian).

Perhaps so, until trSaturn hits your 7th house and well, to bad for the unsuspecting person..

I have Venus in the 12th house and I use to be like what was described above did not say much swept things under the carpet..

But if I don't get back what I give out I will give a warning but if I see wavering or no progress your ass is dropped and I won't look back no matter how much it hurts me..

Hi All,

Coffee said, "No, Venus IN a house would not indicate such a thing, to my knowledge/guessing".

To my knowledge, a natal placement of Venus in H12 gives the potential as I indicated. The degree of reality this potential makes depends largely upon the lifetime transits it meets with and how the rest of the chart is aspected. I actually know of two people with this placement and my description (and Redstar's analysis) does fit.

For me it indicates the part of me that doesn't like the lime light and doesn't like the party scene. I like easy going activities like fishing, hiking, going out to eat; quiet activities are fine. Also this placement is indicative of a person who is not very expressive of their love for something or something. Makes me look unenthusiastic. I think that if this person had trouble in a love relationship it would be because they don't let the other person know that they are loved or have interest in them...It might come from shyness, but if the other person likes to display their love and affection and doesn't receive it as much as they expect then they might take that as not liking them. An example would be Venus in Leo...That's where the problem might come from.
As for clandestine relationships....I think for a lot of people it's not true. It goes against what I believe in and my character. I prefer to do one relationship at a time and especially would not pursue a relationship that would be considered immoral.

Hi Taurian Scorpian,

I didn't mean to say that all the descriptions of a Venus/H12 will occur in one person. In fact, every natal aspect carries several possibilities and often only one of them is actualized.

Hey ASCLibra,
Yea I get what you're saying. Because of that fact, it's hard to pinpoint a sign/house/aspect to be indicative of a person's personality because it could come from other influences in the chart, which is why we call it a 'possibility'.

For example, they say that Venus in 12th house give more than they expect in relationships... I don't think that I give more. However, I understand myself well, I know that I could be taken advantaged of, and unless I can completely trust this person, I feel safer having my significant other to be more expressive and giving than I am, even though I know I am capable of giving more than I do at the time or even if I might want to. Actually I think this part of me is from fear of rejection, which could come from Venus in 12th, as it is in the house of Pisces, a water sign, and very sensitive and could make a person self-conscious, as well as from my Moon in Scorpio (fear of rejection).

I think 12th house venus is awesome!!

The 12th house encompasses a little bit of every other house so 12th house venus is understanding and compassionate. They believe love is everywhere and can manifest in every way. Some people think love is a matter of life and death; or a matter of status and material gains. Others believe that intellectual connection is most important. And there are those who think love needs to be secure etc etc. I think 12th house venus is able to understand where they are coming from. And when 12h venus fall in love (even if it's a secret affair, or involves sacrifice they are up for anything because they believe that the love is there (even if their relationship isn't public or that they have to sacrifice certain things), and that is what matters.

So to answer your question, no, 12h house venus does NOT equal unhappy love life. It mean you look at love as something all encompassing. When this is your view, that often means you will sacrifice what others might view as important (publicity, money, time, security) in order to achieve what YOU think true love really is.

I have venus in the 12th in Aries, I agree with Redstar, that the childhood was a bit barren... I also have saturn in the 4th house trining venus in 12. The older i get, the more I am able to find my venusian qualities. Those are two very difficult placements for children, but in adult life they turn into gifted placements as you have found a love for yourself borne of hardship, and that love can never be taken away....

I have venus in leo in 12th and i can guarentee i wont budge for someone who wont budge for me. The second its not a two way street i will stop everything !

I dont care about someone who doesnt cae about me or show the same affection. What am i an idiot? I DONT THINK SO!

Why would venus in 12th make us like a pisces? I have a pisces DC and i still dont have that attitude towards love. Love is both ways for me and it is about balance.

I have had secret affairs but so has many other people without this placement. It keeps things hidden so when venus in 12th is triggered something HIDDEN related to VENUS is being triggered.

I believe other placements might have to do with selfless love. Venus here hides venus.
Maybe a lover who is sick or maybe a lover in prison etc.

I have Venus in the 12th too, however its in Sagittarius exactly conjunct Uranus. I admit that I like my affairs to be private. I'm not big on public displays of affection past hand holding & a peck on the lips. With my last partner, he was into sex in public or ... and that definitely wasn't my cup of tea. Our Venuses squared ( Venus in Virgo 3rd house), so I never gave an inch on the issue.

My current partner has Venus in the 5th house and is also into public sex ( I must attract this lol!) but his Venus is in Aries and trines my Venus & Uranus in a 1 deg orb. I find myself warming up to the idea or at least find myself allowing him to guide me. We shall see!
