1st house - Sun - Mars: active
7th house - Moon - Venus: receptive

Since the active part was always contributed to men, people started seeing these as symbols of masculinity; since the receptive part was contributed to women, people started seeing these as symbols of feminity.

1st house shows in EVERY chart your "instinctive" being, your physical Self;
7th house shows in every chart the YOU, the OTHER (no matter if lover or enemy).

Mars shows in every chart how you go about things and how you ACT, and Venus shows in every chart, what gets your attention, how you REACT - Venus and Mars mostly in terms of relationships or a social context.

Sun and Moon also show some sort of ACTION and REACTION / REFLECTION, but in a more basic general way; that is why we see Sun as the SELF and Moon as the emotional core.

That is why astrology works OF COURSE also on homosexual relationships.
We are not seeking a woman or a man, but we are seeking the OTHER, no matter what gender we prefer.
