I'd be really interested to see some of the synastry between parents and their children- either your own children or your parents. I think the connections often found in these charts are absolutely magnetic. And what's the story behind your/their birth?Every time I look at my son Q and I's synastry, I notice something important and new. I know we talk a lot about soul mates here, but I believe that Q is truly my soul mate! The love that I have for him is perfect love- uncomplicated and selfless. Of course, he's just a year old right now- ask me again when he's 14.  I was told at a young age that I would most likely never be able to have children for medical reasons, and so over the years managed to convince myself that I WANTED to be childless. I was a free spirit/party girl for years, never slowing down. When the news came that one day, randomly, I was PREGNANT, it was more than just a shock. I hadn't been trying to get pregnant (still not ENTIRELY sure how it even happened, since his father and I always used protection) and had absolutely no plans to ever be a mother. In spite of all that, I knew instantly that his being was a fated event, though, and our synastry truly proves that- his Sun is directly conjunct my North Node (whose path I had been completely ignoring until he came along) and my Ceres is directly conjunct his Vertex. I don't know how to put the charts up like that, but I think this is a fascinating way to use astrology.
I have 3 kids, the middle child, the boy, is the closest to me.
We can communicate in complete thoughts non-verbally.
We both nearly died bringing him into the world.
When he was about 3 he had past life memories that he would tell me about, just outta nowhere. I wrote them all down and dated them, of course.
I've always known he is my soulmate, but when you use that word in reference to your child, people give you "the look."
So I just keep my mouth closed, but I know that I absolutely could not bear to live on this earth, should he leave it before me for any reason. IP: Logged |

I've always been fascinated with this particular branch of Astrology. The entire family can be seen in the natal chart, for better or for worse.
I've also found that there are very often ties between major luminairies and the lunar nodes, as well as Saturn. Very karmic points in the chart. It stands to reason, as these are lifelong relationships that have a profound effect on both parties, in most cases. My baby daugther's north node conjuncts my moon, her south node conjuncts my sun and mercury - and her father's north node conjuncts her sun. There are also numerous Saturn ties between her chart and both me and her father's chart. The ties that bind, as they say. IP: Logged |

My kids charts are stunningly connected to mine. My son's Aries Moon is tightly conjunct mine. My ascendant at Sag 13 conjuncts his sun and vertex and venus. My duaghters venus conjucts my ascendant. I had very sparse connections with my own parents. My children and I always seem intensely connected...(MayEve formerly LilyGirl) IP: Logged |

I have no kids, so I'll focus on me and my parents. I'm an only child, my parents divorced when I was 2, and I lived with my mom and saw my dad every other weekend. Dad remarried when I was 4 and had 2 step sons he considers sons. My mom re-married when I was 11 and divorced when I was 18.My mom and I get along fantastically; we are very similar in personality, though I'm more laid back (maybe because my Moon is in Gemini and hers is in Cancer?). Our senses of humor are the same and we rarely argue and if we do it's over with in a day, without even trying...we're just over it. Our interests and outlooks are very similar too. I'm pretty weird and don't know anyone like me...except her. we are best friends. Now when I was a teenager it wasn't so smooth (mainly because I hated my step-dad and he was a big strain in the house) but for the most part we've always gotten along very well. My mom's Sun and Ascendant are both at Libra 0 (she's 5'10 like I am and when she was younger she got stopped by a well known agent to be a model...and thought he was a fake until she found out too late). This trines/conjuncts my Sun at Libra 5 and my Ascendant at Aquarius 1. Her Saturn conjuncts my Sun by .25 degrees. Our Mercury's conjunct by 2 degrees in Virgo. Her Venus is exactly conjunct my Vertex (which seems kind of creepy), and her Mars conjuncts my Venus by 3 degrees (which is even more creepy!).  My dad and I are very different. He is into drinking and sports and I am into reading and meditating. I don't think he ever 'got' me or really wanted to (my step brothers are just like he is, so I was the black sheep of that household). he was very controlling and judgmental while I was growing up, and I really didn't like him much, and even felt afraid of him emotionally (though he was not emotionally abusive exactly). However, when I got older and more self-confident I stood up for myself, and don't feel this way anymore. We are closer, and I feel a lot of love and affection for him now even though we are still so different. However, I don't open myself up or even reveal all my interests, because it's pointless and he wouldn't understand and think I was crazy. But I try to meet him where he is while having boundaries and things are much, much better now. His Sun conjuncts my South Node by 2 degrees, and widely opposes my Moon by 6. His Mercury conjuncts my Neptune at .5 degrees. His Mars squares my Moon EXACTLY, which was really felt growing up. His Jupiter and Venus conjunct my Ascendant by 1 and 2 degrees, which is kind of creepy too! His Saturn Squares my Nodes by 1 degree and squares my Moon by 2.5 degrees. I've never been emotionally close to either parents. I have Saturn sq Moon (mom) and Neptune opp. Sun (father). Me and my dad are both lifepath #5, and my mom a lifepath #3. They we never married nor lived together, so I've spent periods of time living with both of them. Dad was easier to live with of the two. My mom and I share a Moon trine Moon, but by progression have Sun oppose Sun. My dad and I both have Venus conjunct Mars in our charts. His in Virgo conj. my Ascendant, and mine in Taurus conj. his Ascendant. Although my older brother is his favorite, he let it slip one day given the chance to do it all over again, he'd live his life my way...whatever Emotionally I was closer to my Mom's parents. My grandmother in particular. We're both Gemini with almost identical charts. Suns: Gemini - Gemini
Moons: Sagittarius - Sagittarius
Mercury: Cancer - Taurus
Venus: Taurus - Cancer
Mars: Taurus - Taurus People asked whether I was her only child, even though she'd already have five kids and three older grandchildren...and was 54 years older than me. IP: Logged |

I've always had a special connection with my mother. She pretty much is, as corny as it sounds, my best friend, plus she is only 18 years older than me, so in way, we do have more a sibling relationship than a parent-child relationship. Prominent synastry aspects between us: Her Sun conjunct my Venus (Gemini) Her Sun opposite my Asc. Her Moon (Virgo) is exactly opposite my Moon (Pisces) Her Moon squares my Jupiter (this makes sense, because I sometimes give her advice like a paternal figure would give). Her Mars conjunct my Chiron (this doesn't sound that great, kinda explains why I've been more of the healer). My Venus trine her Jupiter Her Saturn sextile my North node My Sun sextile her Uranus (this makes sense, its no wonder we moved around so much when I was a kid). My Mars opposite her Uranus An exact square of my Venus to her Pluto (heavy!) My Moon conjunct her North node (this aspect really seems prominent to me, and it makes sense why we both share a mystical side). We both share a fondness for our mystical side, and she got me into astrology, however I can't even talk to her about astrology anymore, since I just know way too much than a person should know, and like the other post talking about old school astrology, I sometimes have the problem of bypassing the basics when explaining astrology to other people. aerial, this is what initially hooked me permanently into astrology. there i was teaching myself to calculate charts and draw them (this was before computers) so i used the people closest to me, friends and family, and immediately noticed not just repeating positions by sign and degree but repeating patterns from one member or generation to the next. how could i not be bowled over?my daughter came along in a similar way to your babe's - i also had been told conception was unlikely and i practised mental birth control (ie i would not get pregnant till ready) for 8 YEARS with no protection and not a single glitch in my monthlies...until the day my partner said something that made me realise here was a man who would be a good father. i was pregnant within a month, and knew it before the test (and the first one was negative so i got another!). nothing on earth would have stopped me having her, though i never wanted another and didn't actively want her before she was conceived.... her chart manages to hook into both her parents' though she is an aries, dad a cancer and mom leo...she has multiple trines and difficult aspects to us both, and OUR COMPOSITE IS ECHOED by her chart to an eerie degree(pun)! My daughter's north node is exactly conjunct the ascendant of the composite of my new partner and I.In my composite with my daughter, the amount of NN conjunctions is kind of staggering...

I really hated my dad even as a toddler and my feelings towards him only became more bitter as I grew with him in the house. He treated me badly and I never felt safe around him. We haven't spoken in almost 10 years (my choice). When I looked at our synastry I found out that his stellium of planets squares my moon. That explained so much.IP: Logged | |
