The Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse takes place as the Moon rises in the early evening sky on the east coast of the United States. Use the saying "Take what works for you and leave the rest behind" on this Full Moon. Release. Release. Release. And if you can't release, no worries. It will fall away when it is ready to leave you over the months to come. Know that what you want to release is willing to go. That is enough to change it.

Eclipses are like can-can dances ~ the Sun, Moon and Earth all line up in a row and dance together, kicking up their heels. They also kick up our emotions, feelings and cause us to dance with either joy, fear or the sense of change. Eclipses seem to make things happen ~ they are juicier energetic events. Things hanging on by a thread break, snap or release. Hidden things come to light. Boils are lanced. Fights erupt. Changes happen.

All lunations are important as we are guided most profoundly by the two lights in our sky. However, eclipse lunations are particularly important. The cosmic lights are aligned with earth and thus our beings come into harmony or profound energetic transmissions with our purpose. Our destiny seems to shift and change on eclipses. The points in our charts that determine our destiny, the nodes of karma, are active and making major changes in our lives. It is as it is supposed to be.

This year we had THREE, instead of the usual TWO eclipses in our eclipse season. We had a Full moon eclipse on July 7, a new moon eclipse on July 21 and now we have a full moon eclipse near the World Axis. We started the eclipse season at the New Moon on June 22 and we officially end the season on August 20.

The final lunar eclipse or full moon eclipse ~ as the MOON's light gets blocked by the Earth's shadow moving across her face ~ is August 5, 2009. We are asked to release that which no longer serves us or helps us. We can expect to hear of many divorces, separations, moves, relocations, partings, endings, closings, terminations as well as deaths. The time to pull the plug is now. It is a cosmic wrap so to speak.

The point of the endings and releases is because we are about to move seriously and earnestly into Pluto in Capricorn. Yes, Pluto has been in Capricorn for a year and a half. But not really. Now he's ready to go. The situations, relationships and people that end or leave us now are not supposed to make the journey through Capricorn with us. They have a different path for the next chapter ahead. They are moving into a new or different life of their own. In the case of a death, we've finished the current life's physical karma with the person. Of course, we will continue to carry them in our heart and mind but we don't get to talk to or hang out with them. In the case of ending, separating or changing relationships, we have separate paths ahead. We will not be traveling down the same road in quite the same manner.

The point of the eclipses is not to "punish" you or take away something. The point is to help you get clear on what you need to include or delete in the next chapter of your life. Eclipses clear out stuff, including relationships. Eclipses change things that need to change. The relationship needs to change on BOTH sides so BOTH of you can have the life you were supposed to have.

Eclipses can and will bring you to your knees if you are NOT doing your work or agreeing to change and grow. In that way, eclipses can feel a bit punishing. Eclipses can also bring you to your knees emotionally in an area that needs to be cosmically cleansed. Think of it as a giant whooshing or sucking sound as the old energy spins around and goes down the drain. Soon the sink in your life will be clear and clean ~ ready to wash more dishes, rinse off vegetables, prepare dinner or rest until the next meal.

Eclipses bring things to light that we didn't know. The seeding New Moon for this eclipse took place in February 2008. It was also an Eclipse and the first New Moon after Pluto went into Capricorn for the first time since 1762. YES that WAS a long time ago! It takes Pluto 248 years to circle the Sun. Go read the New Moon column on this website or in my newsletter to see what that New Moon in February 2008 was about and for.

Eclipses happen when the Sun and the Moon join within 10 degrees of the transiting Lunar Nodes. Eclipses are known through out history to mark the beginnings and ends of cycles, movements, governments and leaders.

The seeding eclipse for the Full Moon was part of the 10 North series. According to Bernadette Brady's book, The Eagle and the Lark, the cycle began on April 25, 944 and ends May 27, 2188. "There is a strong emphasis on communication and at the same time, frustrating or inhibiting events may come into the person's life via news, paperwork or a young person. The person may feel tired and drained. Therefore it is a good time to take things quietly and work through the difficulties one at a time." Now, we find the Sun on the South Node as we reach the culmination of the New Moon from February 2008. We are releasing the things that won't be traveling forward with us on the next leg of our journey.

So how do you apply the energy of the eclipse to your life? I've been talking to numerous clients about casting out to the universe for their dreams on the upcoming eclipse. Take the time to meditate on what you'd like to manifest in your life. Give yourself and the universe a concrete, cardinal, and solid earthy list of what you would like to have come into your life. As always, be careful and clear about what you wish for. Working with eclipse energies tend to make things happen even faster than usual! Sit yourself down with the heavens and include representatives of the elements, air, fire, water and earth. Ask, out loud, and include the caveat of stating that your desires are manifested in service to and alignment with or towards your higher or greater good. Ask for things that you'd like to create as Pluto rolls through Capricorn until 2024.

And take a good look at what you want to release under the eclipse. I know you are probably exhausted by the two earlier eclipses and all the energy that has been swirling around you. Take time to breathe. Give yourself space to rest and recuperate. Press the pause button on your life for a moment. Or do nurturing and helpful things that help you recreate yourself and your vision of what you want.

Approach situations with the attitude of being a member of the audience with the Aquarius Moon. You are here to notice what is going on without feeling you have to take it home with you. You get to take it home in while. Right now, notice. Noticing things is where it is at. No judgment. Just notice. Notice and pay attention. It is to get you clearer on what is going on. The Aquarius Energy wants to notice.

The Leo Sun energy wants to play. Give yourself some creative and fun filled laughter or good times under the eclipse. Watch a movie that makes you giggle. Find a joke website and laugh. Dance around your apartment in your underwear with your air guitar. Sing. Paint. Celebrate. Play. Expand yourself with joy. Or make a plan or two to expand yourself with joy.

It is going to be a big eclipse! Remember, whatever happens, is for your greater good and moves you towards the next evolutionary step of your life. Pluto is firmly in Capricorn. He stations to go direct, on the world axis, on September 11, 2009. We are each responsible, good or bad, for where we find our selves in our lives.

Pluto in Capricorn points out the reality behind power. It helps us understand why power exists and what it does for the people who have it or don't have it. Pluto in Capricorn wants us to get real, practical, structured, responsible and be accountable, down to earth, take action, count noses and name names. Capricorn. It is a very large energetic shift for all of us and the world. The Aquarius Leo eclipse will show us how Pluto in Capricorn is going to appear in your life. It will highlight the areas that you get to grow over the years ahead. It is time for you to take responsibility for your actions. All of your actions. We are each a bit more grown up after the changes of the past few weeks.

The other feature of the eclipse is a cardinal cross with the two feminine asteroids, Venus the principle of desire and Pluto. There can be a sense of being betrayed, abandoned or lost around issues of nurturing, desire and caretaking due to power dynamics. Juno in Aries, Venus in Cancer, Ceres in Libra and Pluto in Capricorn all are arguing, fighting and talking with each other. It might have FELT like a partnership ~ and in some ways it is one ~ but there is also a hierarchy of power in it. Your structural relationship to power and her attendants might shift a bit. Juno asserts her rights as the primary partner energy ~ the cherished chosen one. Ceres asserts her rights as the nurturing energy ~ to nurture or to destroy in her energy as Mother Earth. Venus asserts her rights as the financial and desire energy to say what she wants or needs. And Pluto throws all three of them into sharp relief as he brings power dynamics ~ for good or evil ~ into the mix. The women are working on their power dynamics today with Pluto playing one against the other. Watch out.

Finally, Mars in Gemini is approaching a square to Saturn in Virgo. In some instances you are impotent to take action. In other instances, it is not appropriate to take action as you don't technically know what you know. However you DO know what you know but you aren't SUPPOSED to know it. Or if you say what you know, the other guy will have a good reason WHY what you want is not correct or why they can't or why you shouldn't. As I said, part of the purpose of the eclipse is to bring to light situations that have existed for a while but weren't being dealt with.

You have to deal with the situation(s) now. With the knowledge you have, you have to take actions to correct the matter. If you don't correct it, you will have to live like this for the next major chapter of your life. You have until September 11 to 15 to correct and fix the situations that you don't like or discover under the eclipses.

The time is now. Who you are is the result of choices you've made up to this point in your life. Where you are going next is going to be the outcome of the actions you start to take now, under these eclipses. Pluto is in Capricorn. Reality is here.

Now, that DOES NOT mean you have to quit your job, divorce your spouse, kill your sister or do any thing right this minute. It does mean you need to make a plan. It does mean you know you have to change and start to take actions or steps towards it. It does mean that you KNOW you have to do something about it. It does mean you have a plan and start to work your plan. It does mean the universe wants you packing your bag and getting ready to take your long awaited show on the road. It is time. It is your life.

Why are you wasting a moment more of your life on situations, people or stories that don't work, support, love and adore you any more?

Yes, they DID once work, support, love and adore you. Now, not so much. You are ready for your next chapter. Be brave. Chin up. Chest back. Smile on your face. Hair combed. No lipstick on your teeth or the male equivalent (fly closed?). Go for it!

Commentary: 'A Train Entering a Tunnel' shows the ability, in these modern times, to take the shortest and most direct route to a destination or an outcome. Years ago, we would have had to go the long way around a mountain, but now we can use many pathways, methods and "shortcuts" to get where we want to go quickly and expediently. Often, though, going into a 'Train Tunnel' can be a weird experience; the sunlight suddenly disappears, and it can feel as though we are hurtling through the earth to some unknown destination. This can be exciting, but also often rather disconcerting as the 'Train' speeds towards its destination or goal.

Oracle: You may feel the need to cut through any obstacles you encounter and to go straight ahead, regardless of any unseen hazards on your way. It may be necessary to examine whether you are operating at cross-purposes with someone. There may be a need to check the 'Trains' signals, to make sure that there's not a collision with people, or complications, coming the other way. This can be particularly true if this feels like a "one-track" journey. Perhaps the situation feels like it's never end going to end, like you're stuck in a 'Tunnel', but it's certain that it will. You are likely to have a great deal of drive and it's probable that others are with you, or people may be depending on you, so plough on through. However, this can be a lonely journey that you're on. It may feel like you're going through a dark 'Tunnel' all by yourself, and there can be a sense of isolation. Whatever the situation, there's a need to cut to the heart of the problem, without stopping to consider every single detail. If you feel that you're heading down the "right track", quickly adjusting, changing or making up your mind about some issue or problem can lead to swift conclusions and solutions. Commentary: 'Cherub-Like, A Human Soul Whispers Into Every Receptive Ear, Seeking to Manifest' is a Symbol of the desire to be heard and taken seriously. This 'Human Soul' is trying to find a 'Receptive Ear', someone who will listen to or agree with what's being said, perhaps to spur others to take some kind of action. Something that has been waiting to be 'Manifested', said, heard or realized could come out quite suddenly.

New Moon Solar Eclipse

The February New Moon is an eclipse! Eclipses happen when the Sun and the Moon join within 10 degrees of the transiting Lunar Nodes. Eclipses are known through out history to mark the beginnings and ends of cycles, movements, governments and leaders. Follow the degree of the nodes, 27-28 and the lunation, 17-18, of the fixed signs to see the areas impacted in your own chart.

It is interesting to note that the eclipse takes place at the same exact clock time as Pluto entered into Capricorn for the first time since 1762. All over the world, Pluto entered into Capricorn last week for the first time in our lives while this week the eclipse takes place at the same exact time in a 24 hour day. I think the Universe wants us to notice! On the east coast of the USA, the clock time for both the Pluto ingress and the Solar eclipse was 10:44. That time adds up to a 9, marking an karmic ending of sorts. Notice what time the New Moon Eclipse and Pluto Ingress took place in your neck of the woods to see what the time tells you about the energy. Further, break the numbers apart between hours and seconds, so for the east coast of the USA, the 10 is the 10th house or Capricorn’s domain while 44 adds up to 8, which is Pluto’s domain.Works for me!

Of course, because the two cosmic events were at the same clock time, the charts between the Pluto Ingress in Capricorn as well as the New Moon Eclipse are nearly identical regarding the planets zodiacal placement and the house alignments. Separated by only 12 days, a Jupiter number, we notice a very subtle shift of the very large stellium in Aquarius, Chiron, Mercury, Moon, Sun, Neptune, Vesta, and North Node moving into the 4th house of security and home from the 5th house of creativity and children. The balance of the planets, Saturn, Mars, Pluto, Jupiter, and Venus stay in the same houses they were found in during the Pluto Ingress chart.

The eclipse, as the first new moon lunar event after the Pluto ingress into Capricorn marks, describes and illuminates what we can expect the first part of Pluto’s journey into Capricorn to be about. Pluto starts his journey in Capricorn, but will back up into Sagittarius for a wrap up of the last degrees in late spring, over the summer and into early fall. Pluto doesn’t firmly commit to Capricorn until fall arrives. BUT we will see during and through this first pass of the Pluto Ingress and New Moon eclipse lunation a very clear message from the cosmos of what we are supposed to focus on here on earth.

There are SIGNIFICANT differences between the Pluto ingress and the eclipse chart. Since the Pluto ingress, both Mercury and Mars have stationed, shifted direction and started to move in new directions. Mercury in Aquarius is the ruler of the now forward moving Mars in Gemini. Mars in Gemini is still out of bounds (way out in fact) as he slowly starts to pick up steam. He’s moving SO SLOWLY but he IS moving forward again. With Mars going so slowly, it is like a slow, energy of trying to move a very full, full bookcase ~ slow inertia but once you get it moving, it will slide along the floor, rather rapidly, if a bit creakily. Mercury in Aquarius is moving backwards now. He’s been lurking in Neptune’s gassy inspiration and fog of hope. He’s going back into it. Normally Mercury in Aquarius is brilliant. He’s still brilliant but he’s also high on Neptune’s illusions so he’s not seeing things clearly at all. PLUS Mercury is driving the car of both Saturn in Virgo and Mars in Gemini while under the influence of Neptune so to speak so you need to watch him carefully. He’s not in complete command of his faculties. As Saturn rules Pluto, Venus and Jupiter, Mercury also has influence over them, and probably NOT a good influence. Or at least not a clear influence.

Look carefully at the period of time between Pluto’s entry into Capricorn and the New Moon, between January 25th to February 6th. That was an exceptionally turbulent set of planetary activity when our communication and our action planets were both stopped in the sky. Our planet guides are going over that section of time as well as the events with a giant bright pink highlighter! Make note of all events, big and small, that took place ~ keep a quick 12 day diary ~ record what and who you talked to about what and who as well as what you heard and saw. The heavens are laying out the next major part of your life. Also note the white parts ~ the parts that didn’t get highlighted. They are important too! The solution to the highlighted situations can lie in the unhighlighted parts.

The eclipse is part of the 10 North series. Therefore it is a good time to take things quietly and work through the difficulties one at a time.” It is a NORTH node eclipse meaning things ARRIVE in your life or appear to invite you to move forward into your life as the Sun and the Moon form their monthly union near to the north node of life’s direction, calling and purpose. The eclipse is partially visible from Australia and falls over the Antarctic suggesting changes in those parts of the world. As you can see, the eclipse cycle started many years ago, in 944 and is almost finished. It has marched from the North Pole towards the South Pole over the last 1,064 years bringing communication enlightenment as well as changes to the vision of who we are.

So how do you apply the energy of the eclipse to your life? I’ve been talking to numerous clients about casting out to the universe for their dreams on the upcoming eclipse. (Remember, Jupiter is still out there hammering away with his Capricorn hammer!) The chart completely supports “ask energy” as Mercury retrogrades back toward the Sun, Moon and Neptune and sparks a new beginning as he does it. I DO caution you to add to the “ask energy” the disclaimer ~ “as long as it is for my higher good!” During energies like these we tend to WANT stuff that might not be the best thing for our being or our soul. And then when the stuff we ask for arrives in the service of an eclipse (karmic shifts) it tends to have that “stick with us” kind of cosmic glue that nodes create. I call it that giant sucking sound. So ask, but ask wisely.

The other thing to remember is the eclipse has Mercury retrograde enmeshed in the middle of a muddle. It is a puddle of hard to work with, harder to see through and dark as night (it is a NEW moon not a full moon) energies. Mercury has Chiron to his left, Neptune to his right, and the Sun and Moon sitting on his head. Even exalted, fabulous Mercury in Aquarius will have trouble keeping things straight with this energy and that many planets talking to him. And Mercury IS going backwards! So he’s not in that great of shape. So pause. Pause. Pause! Especially pause before taking action. What ever you THINK you heard, double check that you heard what you heard. Ask three or four friends if THEY heard the same thing you heard. Lots of potential for misunderstandings and mistakes and miscommunications on this baby! Mercury in Aquarius often, always, positively, completely, thinks HE IS RIGHT ~ and 99.999999% of the time HE IS RIGHT! But not now. Not now. Mercury is SO PRONE to misunderstandings, missed signals, bollixed up interpretations right now but he still thinks he is right. Can you see the potential for major mix-ups? Caution. Caution. Caution. No taking action unless you are completely, completely, completely clear.

The Mercury placements remind me of that very bad joke that Catholics tell. A monk was interested in studying the original scriptures. So he studied the ancient languages for years. He received permission to comb back through the Vatican texts, scrolls and tablets, tracing the history of the scriptures to their original source documents. He worked on his project for years and years. He was old and gray, close to the end of is life. All of a sudden, the other monks in the abbey hear him banging his head on the table, pounding his fist and crying out “No, no, it can’t be!” They run into the library to see what is wrong. He cries out, “It was a translation error ~ it was supposed to be CELEBRATE not Celibate!”

If you hear something under this eclipse DO pay attention but recognize it could be a complete misinterpretation on your part OR on the part of the person telling you the story of what they heard. Don’t take action and go off half crazed. Encourage them to listen and wait and see. Pause. Think if what you heard even makes sense! Breathe.

Sualocin, the fixed stars, is joined to Mercury, Sun and Moon. Sualocin is a practical joke played by an Italian astronomer on the rest of us. The name first appeared in a catalog published in 1814 without explanation. Sualocin is Nicolaus spelled backwards ~ he was the assistant to the head of the Palermo Astronomical Observatory name. Sualocin is a multiple star in the constellation of the dolphin or Delphinus. Sualocin/ Nicolaus is a great example of the reversal energy active and working during the eclipse.

According to Ptolemy, Delphinus is like Saturn and Mars while the bright stars Rotanev and Sualocin are Mercury/Jupiter according to Robson. It gives a simple appearance, cheerfulness, dissembling and duplicity, love of hunting, and sport in general but little happiness. Little happiness and love of hunting would not apply to Rotanev and Sualocin because they are not of Saturn/Mars nature. There is a fondness for pleasure, ecclesiastical matters and travel, but danger of suffering from ingratitude. It is a small but ancient constellation that is easily located in the night sky. The Dolphin Delphinus helped the sea god Poseidon win the heart of his wife, the mermaid Amphitrite. In another story Delphinus helped the musician Arion escape from sailors who attempted to throw him overboard and steal his belongings. The god Apollo was so moved by Arion's music, he sent the dolphin to carry him to the shore. The constellation can be found to the east of the bright star Altair in the constellation of Aquila, the eagle.

That said, the Sabian Image is profound for the other side of the eclipse energies. It very well might be true! What you heard could be a very profound and extremely deep reveal on the part of the person doing the speaking! The energy of the Sabian image is that of masking and unmasking. Have you ever been to a Halloween Party where the costumes are scary? How costumes shifts the energy and allow folks to be “different” than they are in “real life”. Commentary: ‘A Man Being Unmasked at a Masquerade’ shows the inevitable outcome for anyone who is participating in a ‘Masquerade’. He can get away with wearing the ‘Mask’ for a period of time, but eventually circumstances will lead him to reveal himself sooner or later. This could happen voluntarily or involuntarily. He may decide that it’s time to reveal who he truly is in his own time, or he may be forced to lift the ‘Mask’ against his own wishes.

Oracle: Sometimes life uncovers ‘Masks’, intrigues, cover-ups and mysteries so that the truth may be revealed. Things may look better or worse in their true light. What is revealed may be beyond most people’s expectations with a very happy result.
