For years I used Placidus because that was the default on Astro.com and then I got a professional reading by someone who used equal house. It was like my chart finally made sense. Pluto moved from the 8th to the 9th, which is totally me and Saturn from the 7th to the 8th, which makes a whole lot of sense . Not to mention the major asteroids and POF that all moved over by one house. That was the real clincher because when I looked at them in Placidus they didn’t make one bit of sense, then in Equal house – it was me all over. Has anyone tried on the different systems? Which system is best for you? Why?

I use Placidus. I never had a problem with it.also I interpret planets in a certain house and close to the cusp of the next house as being influenced by both houses. This is especially so for the planets in cadent houses and conjunct angles. I have wondered about the whole sign equal house system which is said to be the oldest. Robert Hand uses it. Most Vedic Astrologers do too. It is used by classical astrologers too. Raymond

I think Placidus is fine and I use it, but I prefer Equal, though I sometimes forget to use it lol. For me it makes sense as well... my 6th house stellium gets 2 of its planets moved (Pluto and Mercury) into my 5th house, right next to my Sun, and my Jupiter moves into the 9th which makes complete sense since I love to move and travel so much lol! Also, I think when people are born in places where the chart looks wonky in Placidus... totally uneven houses if you're born in Norway or Ireland. It becomes more even with Equal. But the difficult part is when you do, say, synastry, and you want to see which house cusps conjunct what planets... so hmmm..... IP: Logged |

I do this too Glaucus - I have Venus at 0 degrees Leo between the 6th/7th house cusp, conjunct Descendant. My Leo 7th house cusp starts at 1 degree and that Venus is right on the edge. Even on the Astro-Click portrait is is interpreted in both the 6th and 7th house so I just say it is in both. I think it is interesting that it aspects every angle, conj. Dsc, opp. Asc, trine MC and trine IC although I can never find an interpretation for an IC trine. Guess that will be my next thread - the IC!

I have something similar to you. My Jupiter in 8'17 Sagittariius is in 3rd house oppose/conjunct the Midheaven/Imum Coeli axis in 11'14 Gemini/Sagittarius, and square the Ascendant/Descendant axis in 13'27 Virgo/Pisces.

Placidus. It even works on my boyfriend who was born in Lithuania and has lots of intercepted houses.IP: Logged |

I am troubled by the existence of different house systems. I use Placidus, but if I'm looking at a chart or synastry in depth, I'll check out Equal House too.In Placidus, my Pisces Jupiter is in the 2nd house...in Equal, it moves to the 3rd. Both fit. My Mars moves from the 8th (Placidus) to 9th (Equal)...the 8th is more accurate, I think. My Neptune moves from the 11th to the 12th...the 12th is maybe more accurate. I don't know. The existence of different house systems is one of the many things that brings up my skepticism about astrology. IP: Logged |

"I don't know. The existence of different house systems is one of the many things that brings up my skepticism about astrology."That's how Cosmobiologists feel. Their astrological system doesn't include a house system. Raymond

I use the Placidus. The psychological interpretations from Liz Greene for my placements I found on some free site (it offered hers as an alternate to theirs, hers was obviously leagues better) was dead on, creepily dead on.Also made me a huge fan of Liz Greene ever since...

I use mainly Placidus, and Equal to see the placement changes and then compare. I don't know but they both seem accurate to me. IP: Logged |

I have no problem using all systems overlappingly. They all make sense to me and nothing is clear cut.I don't trust too rigid systems anyway. In the Placidus system my Sun is in the 2nd house and Moon&Venus in the 3rd. In the Equal system my Sun is in the 1st house and Moon&Venus in the 2nd.
