I don't get it. Sure, I go to astro.com and fill out my birth time, but then I go to another site and get a Gemini rising. So if I'm confused about my rising sign, think how many other people might be mistyped for their rising sign! How is one sure???IP: Logged |

I know exactly how you feel!! I'm still struggling with mine!!Some websites will tell me that I'm a Libra rising... but then I go to astro.com and it tells me that I'm a Virgo rising... ugh and I don't know which to believe! I relate to both! IP: Logged |

maybe one or the other site is not accounting for summer time? or are you winter babies? i have never had this problem, comes out the same every time!edit: i tell a lie! when my chart was first done the friend who did it did not allow for DST - which gave me capricorn rising and jupiter in the first house. i refused even then to believe that i had cappy rising, and later learned to do my own - i am talking WAY before computer software did the calculations. i have made a ton of mistakes doing things longhand, but i have never entered the right info and come out with a different asc.... Astro.com is a highly reputable site. There are other factors involved in calculating your chart. You must make sure that you are typing in the correct data yourself. Also, there are different kinds of charts. For example, there are "Sidereal Charts" which will give you a different rising sign and Sidereal Astrology is recognized as a valid astrological process. I believe it was the first form of astrology. There are so many different types of astrology, but the most common form seems to be western astrology and I think most people use Placidus, Tropical or Koch houses as the most popular house layouts these days and all three of those will give you the exact same Rising Sign/Ascendant and Midheaven. Another thing to consider, were you born at Daylight Savings time? I was shocked 2 years ago when I had a client who was born on September 25th and she was born at 1:00 AM. My professional astrological software had a bunch of bells and whistles going off alerting me to the fact that I needed to find out if she was born at 1:00 AM THE FIRST TIME IT CAME AROUND or 1:00 AM the 2nd time it came around. She was born the first time it came around. Most important is that if you're serious about astrology, you'll be careful of what you're typing or writing out by hand. It's an age old issue for sure. Take great care not to treat astrology like a video game, ya know. IP: Logged |

mine has always been leo.astro.com so far is the best. it was once posted to try to get EXACT coordinates for the location you were born in, the exact address of the place if known: if you're very much on the cusp (less than 1 deg) this could change things. the person in question got their location coordinates from Google Earth and this changed their ASC. and there are no "cusping" ascendants: it's one or the other. Some more stuff:I WAS born in the summertime so the daylight savings time thing applies to me (August 14, 1988 at 12:14 PM). However, I put in my location correctly and GMT, and they still were completely different. I've never done longhand calculations in order to get my ascendant sign from anyone. IP: Logged |

Leodiva,What other website are you using when you don't use Astro.com? Don't put in GMT, just leave everything alone, it will automatically calculate it correctly for your time and location. IP: Logged |

Can i get just a little offtrack here? i tried getting a progressed chart with the natal on astro.com. It wasfine as long as I did not try to use the time and date of the progressed chart to get an independent natal.i.e I was going to use the progressed charts of two people for synastry comparison. So i used the progressed time and date to set a chart and the Asc went haywire. I was looking at 5.30h ahead of UT and it gave me all kinds of Asc. Don't know how to set it right.IP: Logged |
