I was reflecting a bit on some things and noticed something extremely interesting. Oftentimes we talk about signs we don't like or get along least with but for me it has been more ironic. The people who treat me most vilely and I get along least with seem to be of a certain sign yet the people who treat me with the most unexpected acts of kindness fall under the same sign. I wonder if anyone else experienced this? Even signs whose qualities I do not get along with, I always find someone who is just so amazing.

^^ Your 33rd post - good fortune

I had a conversation with a close pisces friend of mine; we were at a bookstore, scanning the astrology section, and I couldn't help but notice how often modern astrologers try to condense the vast amount of insight on the chemistry between signs into very simple terms; many astrologers will say "Your sun sign gets along with this sun sign and doesn't get along with that sun sign" But I've always found that it is more personal than that. I am a natal Leo, and while I adore Sagittarians and Ariens (the signs that are traditionally said to be compatible with mine, I've found that Virgos have been captivating me my entire life. I would attribute this to my Virgo stellenium (Venus,Mars,Mercury), but haven't noticed the same pattern with other people.

As for your question, it seems history is always repeating itself when it comes to certain signs; others, like you've reported, surprise me, but never to the extent that you've described.

What sign are you talking about, may I ask?

The deeper you delve into astrology, the more you appreciate that we are so much more than our sun signs. Pop astrology does a major injustice to the science by flippantly saying Taurus and Leo can never be happy together, or Libra and Pisces just don't connect..etc... And to the lay person, who is a Libra deeply in love with a Pisces for example, this is just crap because they are living proof that it's not true. Thus, they decide, Astrology is BS.
I am also a Leo, and almost every major love in my life has been with a sign supposedly incompatible with Leo - a long list of Virgos, a Cancer, and now, a Taurus. In fact, I have never even dated a Sagittarius or an Aries....go figure. My very first boyfriend was Libra, but I found him to be so wishy washy, and a bit of a bore....My best freind is an Aquarius, my opposite sign. Alas, I have an Aquarius moon, and she has a Leo moon. I dated another Libra who annoyed the crap out of me - such a wind bag and a hypocrite..I almost punched him in the face - good in bed though...that was his only saving grace. That didn't save the relationship though.

But to address the original post, yes.... I find Capricorns to be the most level headed, and give the best advise...and if you have one on your side at work, you're golden. I can't trust Gemini's because they tell all, and then some...they're concerned and want to know what's up, what's bugging you, but then they use it as gossip fodder to anyone who will listen. So there you go. I could go on, but that's enough for now, I don't want to start a flame war or anything.

Milk- thank you. I definitely agree that the compatibility between signs is much deeper than that. Signs that I have been talking about are Virgos. I am a Gemini and generally clash with Virgos. Yet there are a few Virgos that have been so amazing, without any reason. Just plain kind and that is impressive. Most astrologers say I should get along with Aquariuses but my Scorpio moon fights against it. Especially against some Aquarian moons (mostly if they are an Earth sun), yet I have found some Aqua moons that aren't so cold and detached and also just plain awesome.

Lionseye - i definitely agree with you. My best friend and I also have that "exchange of signs" thing going on. I am a Gemini, moon in Scorpio, Libra asc and she is a Gemini moon in Libra, Scorpio asc.
Lol I know what you mean about Geminis. Though not all are like that but I definitely have seen a ton of that. One "friend" with a Gemini stellum waited a total of 5 minutes after I was out the door to dish everything that was said...and to strangers too...

There is also a marked difference between the males and the females of each sign. Also, when your talking about a sign, it is going to manifest different as a friend than it is romantically. Like, I have some male Sag friends that I adore, but would never date. Same with Aries, and Leo. I love the females of all these signs for friendship, but a romance, nope. I am attracted to Scorpio, Virgo, and Cap.

Horoscope Signs by Robert Hand gives a good explaination of the zodiac signs as "evovled" or "unevolved" versions of each sign.

Of course this a little classist but the point is, for example, each 12 signs can go either way, with the good or the bad traits.

I personally am not familar enough with all 12 signs to comapre the good and the bad qualties. But I when it comes to combatibility I tend to just gravitate towards my fellow fire signs and I'm a Leo Sun as well.

I also think the Moon sign is really overlooked for long term combatibility in astrology. I have Pisces moon and all my really close friends either have Pisces Moon, Scorpio or Cancer Moon. And the strangest part is in synastry with these people our Moons don't trine, but our own emotional nature is similar enough to be compatible.

To add a little synastry perspective, for me personally, I notice a lot of harmony between Uranus and the inner planets with my closest friends.

And now that you mention it, with my aries moon I've noticed that most of my inner circle is made up of Lunar Lions and Archers. My truest friends are ALL Lunar Librans, however~ Something to be said for gravity between opposites I suppose.

As far as conventional descriptions of sun signs are concerned, Virgo and Gemini are technically square, so it's not uncommon that you've discovered a strange connection with the Virgiteen court.

And Lionseye - what you said about people being turned off by inaccurate sun sign compatibility descriptions is basically EXACTLY what I said to my friend the other day. It's truly sad that astrologers aren't really interested in fostering harmony between the signs, don't you think?

Great thread!
I do think that it's really interesting about the signs in general... who is 'supposed' to get along with who, etc.
I tend to think in terms of the whole chart... like I think with my fixed T-square, the missing 'leg' to it is Leo, and I am a 5th house Sun, so I tend to like Leos a lot, feel I can trust them for some reason... same with Aquas to an extent (for friendships).

I think ultimately it IS supposed to be that we find admirable traits in signs we aren't supposed to 'get along with' according to sun signs alone... isn't that what human relationships are about? I'm reminded of Steven Forrest's 'Love Handles' article about synastry in general.

I don't know....I can always tell someone's sun sign when I meet them. I can't tell their moon, etc. The sun is very powerful in a person's personality. I find the descriptions are usually correct. To say it's not is to negate astrology, to a certain extent.

It is all important, the whole chart, but the sun makes up the bulk of someone's personality, imo.

My mother has Sun in Gemini, and my father had Sun in Capricorn......those signs are quincunx and are viewed as being incompatible

but

my mother has Moon in Scorpio, and my father had Moon in Pisces (same as my maternal grandfather and me).......their moonsigns were in the same element

My mother has only the Sun in Gemini

the rest of her planet/point stuff is

Moon in Scorpio square Pluto
Mercury in Cancer
Venus in Cancer
Mars in Capricorn
Saturn in Scorpio
Jupiter in Cancer
Uranus in Cancer
Neptune in Libra
Pluto in Leo
Ascendant/Descendant axis in Capricorn

also her Sun is in 12th
trine Neptune in Libra in 5th,and so very Pisces-like. Her Sun is sextile/parallel Pluto, and so very Scorpio-Like. Her Sun is also parallel Mercury, and puts emphasis to her Sun in Gemini. Her Sun is also parallel Venus,Jupiter,Uranus, and the Ascendant too.

I don't really see much Gemini in her. I would have thought it was the changeability in her moods, but I am convinced that's her Cancer stuff and even her Moon in Scorpio square Pluto.

“It is absolutely the perfect name,” Dr. Brown said, given the continuing discord among astronomers and the public over whether Pluto should have retained its planetary status.

In mythology, Eris ignited discord that led to the Trojan War.

“She causes strife by causing arguments among men, by making them think their opinions are right and everyone else’s is wrong,” Dr. Brown said. “It really is just perfect.”

Same here. I'm also a Gemini with my opposite sign, Sagittarius, as my favorite. While my trine, Aquarius, is the absolute worst matchup.

I agree about Virgo. Longterm we don't get along, Mercury is a shortterm planet, but initially, we're a good team.

Gypsee - I definitely agree with the male/female thing. I manage to deal with certain signs totally different based on Gender. I know 3 Aries Scorpios, 2 guys and one chick. Love the guys hate the chick.

Vertiver - I will definitely check out that book. Robert Hand is usually very good.

I wonder if this would also show the type of people we attract for lessons and stuff. Like if we dont like someone there is a reason...hm

i would think that everyone would get along with at least one person from each sign. i dont like this generalization that just because your an earth elment sign you get along better with other earth elment signs. thats bull.lol get it bull earth sign haha

anyways i also do think that male and females of one sign are like a coin its attached together but both sides of the coin are very very different.i get along better with most females on some signs then i do with men. but then other signs i get along better with males then i do with most females.

somehow i might be the only person who gets along with everyone. i attract everyone most of the time virgos a little bit more but i have met alot of people from all the signs. and so have alot of other people.
