Good Lord...I'm so oblivious sometimes. I've been wondering why I felt the urge to frantically clean my entire apartment today. Duh! I ought to ban myself from this forum for being such an astrological dum-dum sometimes, sheesh! It's the first day of Virgo and I'm a Virgo--of course I want to clean! I admit that I am not too crazy about Sun in early Virgo right now. It will be in a grand cross transit to my t-square of Moon in 3'11 Pisces in 6th square the opposition of retrograde Saturn in 5'08 Gemini in 9th and Neptune in 1'48 Sagittarius,Jupiter in 8'17 Sagittarius in 3rd. currently, transiting transneptunian/plutino/dwarf planet candidate, Orcus is in 0'31 Virgo.
Therefore, there is a Sun-Orcus conjunction going on in the sky right now. Whoever is born on this day and the day before will have Sun conjunct Orcus, and so Orcus prominent in their charts. So will be rather Pluto-like too with Orcus being astronomically similar to Pluto, and so astrologically similar to it too. people having solar returns on this day and a few days before and few days after will have Sun conjunct Orcus in their solar returns......so the themes of Orcus will be central in the 12 month period. Of course, they are also having transiting Orcus conjunct natal Sun. following keywords for Orcus from Philip Sedgwick. Orcus - A lord of the underworld. Orbital Period: 248.01 yr.
Positive: a person of one’s word, challenges broken promises, aligned with a spiritual creed, accountable for personal thought, word and deed Negative: hypocritical, fault finding in the ways of others, blame assigning, ducks responsibility for word and actions, unable to keep promises Mundane: contracts, oaths to organizations, religions or countries, creeds Ceremonial: declaring faith, writing creeds, channeling the latest cosmic downloads and formatting it into doctrine http://www.philipsedgwick.com/ Raymond

Happy Birthday fellow Virgos. Glaucus- Orcus is sitting right on top of my natal Venus. In my Solar return it's conjuncting my Sun in the solar return 7th. This just looks like a reinforcement of the theme. Joy oh joy. Are there any more in-depth explanations of Orcus? I'm just curious... IP: Logged |

enchantress, here is more stuff on Orcus, It has has a moon named Vanth, the Etruscan goddess who guided the souls of the dead to the underworld. http://planetwiki.planetwaves.net/index.php?title=Talk:Orcus
90482 Orcus is a Kuiper Belt object (KBO) and a likely dwarf planet that was discovered by Michael Brown of Caltech, Chad Trujillo of the Gemini Observatory, and David Rabinowitz of Yale University. The discovery images of this object were acquired on February 17, 2004. Precovery images as early as November 8, 1951 were later identified. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/90482_Orcus
Orcus was a god of the underworld, punisher of broken oaths in Italic and Roman mythology. He was more equivalent to the Roman Pluto than to the Greek Hades, and later identified with Dis Pater. He was portrayed in paintings in Etruscan tombs as a hairy, bearded giant. A temple to Orcus may have existed on the Palatine Hill in Rome. It is likely that he was transliterated from the Greek daemon Horkos, the personification of Oaths and a son of Eris. The origins of Orcus may have lain in Etruscan religion. Orcus was a name used by Roman writers to identify a Gaulish god of the underworld. The so-called Tomb of Orcus, an Etruscan site at Tarquinia, is a misnomer, resulting from its first discoverers mistaking as Orcus a hairy, bearded giant that was actually a figure of a Cyclops.
The Romans sometimes conflated Orcus with other gods such as Pluto, Hades, and Dis Pater, god of the land of the dead. The name "Orcus" seems to have been given to his evil and punishing side, as the god who tormented evildoers in the afterlife. Like the name Hades (or the Norse Hel, for that matter), "Orcus" could also mean the land of the dead. Orcus was chiefly worshipped in rural areas; he had no official cult in the cities.[1] This remoteness allowed for him to survive in the countryside long after the more prevalent gods had ceased to be worshipped. He survived as a folk figure into the Middle Ages, and aspects of his worship were transmuted into the wild man festivals held in rural parts of Europe through modern times.[1] Indeed, much of what is known about the celebrations associated with Orcus come from medieval sources.[1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orcus
